Buffett, 3rd richest man in world, pays lower

Even he see the unfairness here.  Some conservatives are fond of saying that Democrats want to tax the wealthy unfairly, but what I would like to see is the wealthy taxed equally.  "Mr. Buffett said that he was taxed at 17.7 per cent on the $46 million he made last year, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes, while his secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30 per cent."  Here is the entire article.  It's a great read.  Trust me.

Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary

Warren Buffett, the third-richest man in the world, has criticised the US tax system for allowing him to pay a lower rate than his secretary and his cleaner.

Speaking at a $4,600-a-seat fundraiser in New York for Senator Hillary Clinton, Mr Buffett, who is worth an estimated $52 billion (£26 billion), said: “The 400 of us [here] pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter. If you’re in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.”

Mr Buffett said that he was taxed at 17.7 per cent on the $46 million he made last year, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes, while his secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30 per cent. Mr Buffett told his audience, which included John Mack, the chairman of Morgan Stanley, and Alan Patricof, the founder of the US branch of Apax Partners, that US government policy had accentuated a disparity of wealth that hurt the economy by stifling opportunity and motivation.

The comments are among the most signficant yet in a debate raging on both sides of the Atlantic about growing income inequality and how the super-wealthy are taxed.

They echo those made this month by Nicholas Ferguson, one of the leading figures in Britain’s private equity industry, when he criticised tax rates that left its multimillionaire venture capitalists “paying less tax than a cleaning lady”.

Last week senior members of the US Senate proposed to increase the rate of tax that private equity and hedge fund staff pay on their share of the profits, known as carried interest, from the 15 per cent capital gains rate to about 35 per cent.

Lloyd Blankfein, the chief executive of Goldman Sachs, acknowledged in an interview yesterday that there were justified concerns about the huge profits generated by private equity firms and that he worried that income inequality was “poisoning democracy”. He also said that he would be voting for the Democrat candidate at the next election. Mr Blankfein is the highest-paid executive on Wall Street, earning $54 million last year.

Mr Buffett, who runs the investment group Berkshire Hathaway and is widely regarded as the world’s most successful investor, said that he was a Democrat because Republicans are more likely to think: “I’m making $80 million a year – God must have intended me to have a lower tax rate.”

Mr Buffett said that a Republican proposal to eliminate elements of inheritance tax, which raises about $30 billion a year from the assets of about 12,000 rich families, would broaden the disparity between rich and poor. He added that the Republicans would seek to recover lost revenue by increasing taxes for the less prosperous.

He said: “You could take that $30 billion and give $1,000 to 30 million poor families. Or should you favour the 12,000 estates and make 30 million families pay an extra $1,000?”

Because he keeps dropping it lower and lower
And soon my $30 or $40K is going to be considered rich, hence my taxes will be increased!!!!!!
Warren Buffett is paying less tax, personally and corporately, than anytime time in his life.
He was interviewed by Charlie Rose last night - excellent interview - but by the time the show was over, my stomach was in knots. I find this very stressful.

I do think that the tax cuts to the rich and corp. America should be reversed. John McCain agreed with this as well early in the summer but I guess his base swayed him to change his stand.

In Buffetts's office, the cleaning lady pays more taxes than he does, he stated.

pays her own kids way? I think that Alaska pays her kids way! nm

Of course it has to go lower. How else...
can we get it all the way to the bottom where it can start up again?
Nobody pays that much -
They may be in that tax bracket, but after all their deductions, they never pay that much - in fact, since they can afford to pay a good accountant, they usually pay less than the rest of us.

Also, with Obama's tax plan, even if you add the 3% he is talking about, that's what? Another 7500 - after you figure in your deductions, that ain't gonna be nothing.

And as far as their paying higher sales tax, that is a state tax - not a federal tax. And they choose to buy those more expensive items so that tax is their choice - they don't have to pay it.
MQ still pays more for ASR than other

companies.  There was one company out there advertising 3 cpl for ASR.  Their add said they need MTs who can "hit the ground running."  It was on MTdaily a few days ago.  There should be "ASR control" where they can't continue to lower our pay.  Remember years ago when people voted for "rent control" and won?  Time to sign those petitions for "ASR control."

Imagine what these companies are making off ASR.

Who do you think pays for the electricity in
the gov. mansion? Who paid for the upgrades to the electrical system in the mansion?

That may be true about the rape kits, but I don't see any other mayor or former mayor saying that they are a maverick and running for VP.
The government pays for nothing....

...we have hired them to handle certain management tasks with OUR money.

We have grown too large to defend the country with just a militia. We have high-rise buildings and can no longer get by with volunteer fire departments.  We need street crews because we have too much roadway, highways and freeways, and no longer can simply neaten up the road that runs past our property.  We produce far too much trash to simply take it out back and burn it (if that were even still legal in some areas.)  Some elements of modern life have grown just to large and complicated to handle on our own.

We have a system of compulsory schooling now that is doing SUCH a great job educating our children.  Kids were far more literate and better educated when the bulk of their learning occurred in the home.  Read anything written by John Taylor Gatto - Weapons of Mass Instruction is his most recent book - about the origins of public education.

I quote here what was in an earlier post:  *If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until the government gives it to you for free.*  What the government dispenses, the government rations.  Do you really want a government bureaucrat in control of whether you get surgery or some diagnostic test your doctor says you need?  Bad enough you have to fight about it with your insurance company now.  You really want to turn this over to the government?  Really?

Right! O says he will lower taxes, which is really

Why should he lower himself to explain any such trash?

If you want a lower rate -- refinance it
If you're credit score is that good, you should have no problem securing a lower rate.  By the sounds of things, you've got it pretty well paid down.  Depending on the exact amount you owe, you could refinance it into a home equity loan, rather than a new mortgage, and end up only paying about $100 in closing costs.  Check with your current lender.
Who pays for these procedures? My guess
would be that if the minor doesn't have the money, mommy and/or daddy will be billed and expected to pay because the child is a minor.
Just think of all the yummy taxes he pays.

MQ pays tons for those taxes of Obama's

They certainly must for so many MTs to be all atwitter over this plan.  Fred Thompson said it perfectly last PM.

So those "moneybags" need to stop griping about MQ and how crappy it pays.  You think you have less in your pockets now?  You think this crap he's promising is free?  How ignorant!

you do know the rich pays 80 percent of the taxes?
and I'm far from rich, but being a self employed MT, you do know how much taxes I pay I am assuming? 40 percent. 40 PERCENT. 40 PERCENT OF MY INCOME THAT I WORK MY ASS OF FOR GOES TO TAXES!!! You think that should be raised? I make under 50K a year ... please give me a break, you're using the same talking points of the liberal party "only tax breaks for the rich" PLEASE. when my 600.00 stimulus check came for the first time in 10 years i got money back and i was jumping for joy! You can't tell me something like this post and expect me to believe it, cause i've lived it...
Instead of trying to move the lower income levels....
out of those levels by incentivizing them to work instead of stay there, he wants to move the upper income levels DOWN closer to them. Socialism. Makes absolutely NO sense. If he really cared about lower income levels, he would be trying to figure out a way to help them OUT of it, not keep them IN it and bring others DOWN. That is his idea of "economic parity." Misguided, to say the least.
I see the new middle class has dropped from 250,000 to 120,000 and could be lower.

Very, very contradicting to me.  Obama changing a lot of what he said lately and it gets worse.  He wants us to vote early and take off from work Nov. 4th to help him win.  Fox news also reports Obama and his campaign lays out plans to kill expectations after win because of concerns that many supporters are now harboring unrealistic hopes of what can be achieved.  What the heck?  Now he says, "it will be hard to achieve goals and will take time."  He says one thing and then says another.  I want to know where these unauthorized credit cards came from for his campaign.  I want to see his birth certificate that he cannot cough up and there is a petition out and he is under investigation if he was truly born in the good ole USA.  Call your State Department and they will tell you there is an investigation and they trying to get this resolved before Nov. 4th.  So much uncertainty.   Hope I do not offend anyone, but just like a bumper sticker I read

I'll keep my God, my freedom, my guns, and my money, you can keep THE CHANGE.  VOTE FOR MCCAIN/PALIN.

Aren't we NOWat the bottom? How much lower can it get?
Therefore we need CHANGE.

'You don't seem to understand.' Favorite sentence of McCain addressing Obama.
My at-home pays half what my inhouse job did.

My insurance pays for birth control.

Well, maybe the dem congress didn't lower my earnings...sm
But that is the timeline for my taxes that increased, and my take home being lower. I have made less in the last two years. First six years of Bush
administration were great.

And the Clinton years were crap....I still was inhouse and taxes were skyhigh...yuck.

Anyway...whatever the cause, if you're talking Bush years, Clinton years, and when Democrats are in control of Congress.....things for me monetarily have always been way worse under Democrats.

Just the facts for my case.

Who do you think pays the salaries of the Sens and Reps?
Our tax dollars pay their salaries, so under Obama's thinking, we should be able to cap thier salaries. Think that's ever gonna happen? That's right, they just got a raise - so much for not being rewarded for failure.
Smaller government, lower taxes...

if you want to preach, go to church, I know better than you, see my lower posts...nm

I know I just took an inhouse job that pays me half what I make at home -
I am getting desperate to ensure that I have at least some income. My home-based job line counts are so low lately and I know it is because people are staying home. I am the only money maker in the family and I have to do something.

I am in college to get a degree to get out of this education, but have at least 3 quarters more before I am employable, and then who knows if I will be able to find a job then or not; with the way things are looking, more than likely NOT...

I wonder how it is going to help/hurt the economy and the illegal alien problem - I mean, will it make them go home or will they just draw more benefits off our government? If they go home, does that hurt or or help us?

I am being serious here - not trying to start an argument - just doing some thinking.
I'm glad you wrote bible with a lower case
Because there are a million bibles out there...bible simply means book. But the Holy Bible there is only one of, of which there are thousands of manuscripts, and of which authenticity was proved (again) by the manuscripts found in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

I've told you a million times that I do not make that call, Jesus Christ does. All authority has been given to Him. I'm just one of many messengers.

And since you have no idea who I am, don't confuse yourself with thinking I am in a little locked-in box. You have no idea the kind of life I have led, the things I have seen, and the things I have done. I spent six years trying as hard as I could to disprove Jesus and Christianity. To this day I still doubt many things, but doubting is good, it makes you search for the truth that much harder. I question points all the time, but i do so in sincerity, not facetiousness. Therefore God reveals the answers to me. However, He didn't do so until I honestly asked Him.

GOP Pays Legal Bills in Vote-Thwart Case

By JOHN SOLOMON, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Republican Party says it still has a zero-tolerance policy for tampering with voters even as it pays the legal bills for a former Bush campaign official charged with conspiring to thwart Democrats from voting in New Hampshire.

James Tobin, the president's 2004 campaign chairman for New England, is charged in New Hampshire federal court with four felonies accusing him of conspiring with a state GOP official and a GOP consultant in Virginia to jam Democratic and labor union get-out-the-vote phone banks in November 2002.

The Republican National Committee already has spent more than $722,000 to provide Tobin, who has pleaded innocent, a team of lawyers from the high-powered Washington law firm of Williams & Connolly. The firm's other clients have included former President Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros.

Republican Party officials said they don't ordinarily discuss specifics of their legal work, but confirmed to The Associated Press they had agreed to underwrite Tobin's defense because he was a longtime supporter and that he assured them he had committed no crimes.

"Jim is a longtime friend who has served as both an employee and an independent contractor for the RNC," a spokeswoman for the RNC, Tracey Schmitt, said Wednesday. "This support is based on his assurance and our belief that Jim has not engaged in any wrongdoing."

A telephone firm was paid to make repeated hang-up phone calls to overwhelm the phone banks in New Hampshire and prevent them from getting Democratic voters to the polls on Election Day 2002, prosecutors allege. Republican John Sununu won a close race that day to be New Hampshire's newest senator.

At the time, Tobin was the RNC's New England regional director, before moving to President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.

A top New Hampshire Party official and a GOP consultant already have pleaded guilty and cooperated with prosecutors. Tobin's indictment accuses him of specifically calling the GOP consultant to get a telephone firm to help in the scheme.

"The object of the conspiracy was to deprive inhabitants of New Hampshire and more particularly qualified voters ... of their federally secured right to vote," states the latest indictment issued by a federal grand jury on May 18.

The Republican Party has repeatedly and pointedly disavowed any tactics aimed at keeping citizens from voting since allegations of voter suppression surfaced during the Florida recount in 2000 that tipped the presidential race to Bush.

Earlier this week, RNC chairman Ken Mehlman, the former White House political director, reiterated a "zero-tolerance policy" for any GOP official caught trying to block legitimate votes.

"The position of the Republican National Committee is simple: We will not tolerate fraud; we will not tolerate intimidation; we will not tolerate suppression. No employee, associate or any person representing the Republican Party who engages in these kinds of acts will remain in that position," Mehlman wrote Monday to a group that studied voter suppression tactics.

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Thursday questioned Mehlman's commitment to the policy. "This is just another example of his say one thing, do another strategy. Ken Mehlman tells crowds his party is against voter fraud and intimidation, while in the backrooms he supports Republican officials who engage in these dirty tricks," Dean said.

Dennis Black and Dane Butswinkas, two Williams & Connolly lawyers for Tobin, did not return calls seeking comment. Brian Tucker, a New Hampshire lawyer on the team, declined comment.

Tobin's lawyers have attacked the prosecution, suggesting evidence was improperly introduced to the grand jury, that their client originally had been promised he wouldn't be indicted and that he was improperly charged under one of the statutes.

Tobin stepped down from his Bush-Cheney post a couple of weeks before the November 2004 election after Democrats suggested he was involved in the phone bank scheme. He was charged a month after the election.

Paul Twomey, a volunteer lawyer for New Hampshire Democrats who are pursuing a separate lawsuit involving the phone scheme, said he was surprised the RNC was willing to pay Tobin's legal bills and that it suggested more people may be involved.

The new development "really raises the questions of who are they protecting, how high does this go and who was in on this," Twomey said.

Federal prosecutors have secured testimony from the two convicted conspirators in the scheme directly implicating Tobin.

Charles McGee, the New Hampshire GOP official who pleaded guilty, told prosecutors he informed Tobin of the plan and asked for Tobin's help in finding a vendor who could make the calls that would flood the phone banks.

Allen Raymond, a former colleague of Tobin who operated a Virginia-based telephone services firm, told prosecutors Tobin called him in October 2002, explained the telephone plan and asked Raymond's company to help McGee implement it.

Raymond's lawyer told the court that Tobin made the request for help in his official capacity as the top RNC official for New England and his client believed the RNC had sanctioned the activity.

helping the lower class and middle class will NOT
Giving handouts to those that do not work certainly does nothing to help their situations; it only encourages it. Middle class are your working class, the support and backbone of this country. Obama's interference in their lives is just that, interference. The democrats have always felt they have the right to interfere in our lives by taxing us to death. What does that do to help us? It only makes us MORE dependent on the government......nothing about MORE government is helping us in any way.

I'm glad you think crime is JUST a biproduct of poverty, not race, which proves you obviously don't live in an area where that would prove you wrong. I live in an area where I know that every BLACK has the same opportunities as whites, the EXACT same education and FREE two college years....FREE, FREE, FREE.....all they have to do is finish high school....not all As or even any Bs, just finish high school. Now, a lot of young people take advantage of that but MANY do not. What do they do instead? Stand on the street corner, run around with their pants hanging down to the knees, steal for drugs, sell drugs to make money so they can buy expensive hubcaps for their souped up cars, buy their expensive shoes and ugly pants, and make MORE BABIES, which by the way, I SUPPORT with my taxes. No, I don't want to hear all that hogwash about their poverty. The media has made so much of that garbage, those that don't live in or near it, don't realize many blacks have the same opportunities; it's just that a lot of blacks, especially in my town, have grown up generation after generation living off the taxpayer and see no reason whatsoever to change their situation. They make more babies.....I'm forced to raise them so that generation can make more babies. Do I wish their situation would change? ABSOLUTELY! Do they have plenty of resources available in this town alone to change that? ABSOLUTELY! Do most of them take advantage of that? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! Yes, the majority of crimes in our town is committed by blacks but it AIN'T because of poverty; it's because THEY WANT TO COMMIT A CRIME!! We have poor whites as well and the majority of those do not feel they have the right to steal what belongs to others, kill someone over drugs or a stupid girl, or whatever else one wants to use as an excuse.

Obama will do nothing to help those that feel entitled and look to Obama as just a bigger free paycheck. You don't help anyone by giving them free handouts. If they don't want an educate, won't help themselves, and continue to feel ENTITLED to MY money, Obama certainly won't change that by encouraging laziness and lack of worth ethics.

Making the middle class dependent on the government is in no way helping them; if anything, Obama will be the end to the middle class as we know it today.
What in the world are you
talking about ???  Oh, wait, I get it. The writer above said his mother said If Roe v. Wade is overturned, that's it for me.  Out of that entire article that one sentence is what jumped out at you??? Our country is in a really really big mess both domestically and foreign policy-wise. The full and total attention directed towards the empire the Bush administration is so desperate to build will be what finally does us in and Roe v Wade is the most important issue on the table for you??.  Prioritize, and by the way, we are killing babies, ones who are already here, the unborn ones in Iraq, in their mothers' wombs when their mothers are shot, men and women, American and Iraqi, British, Italian, etc. right now.  Killing is killing is killing. It is what it is.  It is not wrong in the US to kill the unborn but just fine and dandy in Iraq.
World War III....sm
With the news of Israeli conflict, Iran's missles, Iraqi War, I feared we were entering WWIII, so when I read this article today it confirmed my suspicions.
I don't know how in the world...
you turned this article which is about the major cheerleaders for the Iraq war, the neocons, into something that maligns the left. The only thing left about this article is me and the fact that I posted it on the liberal board. This article says neocons are upset. Neocons think the current administration is incompetent. Neocons regret what they have done in the past and would not do it again. None of this has anything to do with the American left or all those worldwide who thought attascking Iraq was a farce from the beginning. We have not turned on public opinion. We have been anti-war since before it started. Public opinion was very much against us in the early days of the war, in this country anyway, but some of us knew this would turn out to be the disaster it is. I myself was flabberghasted when I read what these neocons said. I never thought I would see the day Richard Perle or David Frum would have regrets and voice them to the public.
Just in your little world....
you are rather ad nauseum in your hate and bile...keep it up, you'll help her get elected....
How do you know what my world is.....
You make that assumption when in fact, you know nothing about my life. I come from a home where we were dirt poor but it was all I knew, so I didn't know we were poor. And there was no 2 of us as in your home. There was a single mom with two children. She worked a factory job where ladies there were treated horribly, making very little. We grew our own food when we could and I ate the same stuff over and over until I was sick of looking at it. But it was ours. No one said it was easy to get a job but my uneducated mother found a job and because she had no college education, she worked her butt off for very very very little. My clothes were homemade and not store bought like the girls I went to school with. She worked 2 or more jobs to have something under the tree at Christmas. She took a cheese sandwich to lunch everyday (and nothing else) and went to work burning up with a fever because as far as the boss cared, they could find somebody else to put in your place. My mother gave and gave and hasn't gotten anything financially to show for it to this day. Work is all I knew. I applied for a PELL grant to go to college (and for the poor, they can also get those, even those that aren't really considered poor can get them). I worked more than one job, went to classes, and then went to work again. I didn't know what a free ride was and never knew anything about welfare, etc. My mother NEVER took a dime from the government. I bought a piece of a junk car to get around in...seemed good enough for me, because that's all my mother had as well. You just prayed it kept running.

"we are just not buying into the mentality that we should just be lucky to have jobs and we should just work hard for our money" That is called entitlement mentality. Our community is packed full of those that feel entitled. Have another child, feel entitled. Too good to flip hambugers?, no problem, feel entitled.

"I totally disagree with you and I am not all that intereseted in what people who have money think or what their opinions are about what to do with my money." Really? Obama is rich and feels perfectly at ease telling you what to do with your money and what he wants to do with your money! That doesn't bother you? I have no problem with a social program for those unemployed who needs food/clothing/shelter until they get back on their feet. That is not what happens....it becomes a way of life for millions who get very used to not having to do anything but feel "entitled".

"I am talking about rich people who do not pay taxes and get all the tax breaks and credits while I pay higher in percentage of taxes on everything, such that I cannot even survive on what I am making now." Obama is one of those.

I don't know where you live but there are PLENTY of help for the disadvantaged in my community. Taxpayer dollars have built new low income housing, single family housing at that, to the tune of millions. While my mother still lives in a home over 100 years old, those living in a brand new home (complements of taxpayers) at a reduced price, while they are able to ride around in a brand new vehicle. They have 24 hour security protection even though I am already paying for that once by the name of local police.(I don't have private security protection). They have ellaborate wrought iron fences that surrounds their little estate that costs taxpayers to the tune of thousands and thousands (I don't have a wrought iron fence around my home). Like this is going to keep out any unsavory people. Right!! THey just drive right in.

In addition, the people who really need this are the single moms and elderly who are struggling. This type of housing takes any incentive away to do anymore than they have to to to live there. After all, just one spouse has to work so they can say they don't make anymore than they do, and this affords them free housing, food, healthcare, and free babysitter by the name of Head Start. Why isn't the other spouse working? Because they may hit that magic number by a couple of dollars that put them over the "entitlement" line. My mother's highest grossing income ever was 11,000 dollars and she NEVER took a handout. She is now of Medicare age and living paycheck to paycheck. If I offer to help her pay bills, she will not accept it. I have gone in and taken her electric bill and just went down and paid it before she knew it.

"have you ever had to decide whether to buy groceries or to pay the electric bill that is going to be shut off" You make 40K a year and can't pay your electric bill? I'm certainly not implying that's a lot of money, but sister, my mother's total for the year is $10,800 and she pays her electricity, buys her groceries, pays home insurance, pays gas bill, small phone bill all with that. And that's on top of her health care bills and medication. She has just underwent breast cancer and mastectomy and still has managed, so don't tell me you can't afford to live on 40K a year. My husband and I raised two children on less than that and he didn't want me working for a lot of those years so I could be there with the children. And there are two of you working. Mother drives around in a jalopy of a car without air conditioning and we are in the humid south. She now has watched her beautiful neighborhood turn into HUD housing (also paid for by me), loud obnoxious children who manage to walk around in Tommy Hilfiger and other such expensive clothes but their two parents can't afford to pay their own rent? Same parents have new model vehicles sitting in their front yard while mother drives around in a wreck. Nobody paying for her house.

My daughter and her husband didn't make that until just recently and they still managed to put money away for hard times just in case and good thing, he lost two jobs back to back with downsizing and mergers. They never went to a movie, ate at home every night, no newer vehicles, just what they already had.

"the republicans just seem to want to get rid of dead weight and just use people as servants" (Where have you been?) When Obama gets through taxing you to death to pay for his own "social programs", just who do you think will be dead weight. Who do you think will be servants then? How in the world could you possibly think you will be better off financially by being taxed more to pay for more garbage programs? You will then definitely be a servant....to the government!! That's what welfare states are....that's what our public education system is.....they can't turn a page in a book without the government telling them it's okay. They can't teach what needs to be taught unless the government tells them what to read, how to teach. This didn't start with Bush...it started a long time ago. Public education is completely dependent on government funds and that is what has turned all the students in them into servants. It's a reality now, not after the next election. It's been a reality for several decades now.

As far as crime is concerned, even our local police chief (who is black) said the people committing crimes are and will continue to be just plain thugs, criminals. They have no excuse. Honest hardworking people do not just start going out and committing crimes because the economy is bad. What happens is little Johnny can't get his $200 sneakers and $80 jeans anymore (which is the parent's fault in the first place), so he feels "entitled" and goes out and robs, steals, and kills for money to buy them. Those who will do those things will do them regardless. It has nothing to do with the economy.

I'm not saying it is easy but if my mother can live o less than $11,000 a year, I feel 40K a year is doable, unless for some reason you have out of control debt through no fault of your own (credit cards, expensive vehicles, luxury items, etc.). I know unexpected medical bills can put many right over the top and I understand that. My husband's medical bills due to a chronic condition is growing every day and that is a concern for us but I see people with things they want but don't need and they complain they don't have enough money. I was listenign to a cashier at WalMart the other day griping about how she just didn't know how she was going to buy her baby's Bday present, and yet, she had hair braids that cost $180 to get done (I asked her, while she went on and on about how long it took to get it done)and salon nails to the tune of $50 a pop and yet she couldn't afford her baby a birthday present?!!

How in the world
can they compare the republicans to Hitler.  I do believe that McCain wants smaller government.....not bigger government.  A  comparison of Hitler and Obama sounds much more feasible.
Why in the world does he need one
Is he running for office too?
How in the world
can you say the economy was doing great before the Dems took control of Congress?  Bush has borrowed, borrowed, borrowed and now he's borrowing even more so his cronies can take billions before he leaves office.
What in the world

is this country coming to?????  For goodness sake!  I did not vote for Obama, but the man is human.  I was nervous.  Good grief!!!  He is about to take a very big step in his life with responsibility that most of us in our right minds would not take.  He looked nervous and excited to me coming towards the steps, and I am sure he was very nervous when he was being sworn in.  I wish you people would just grow up.

Many of you sound like high school girls - - did you see Michelle's dress.... blah, blah, blah.....  Bush had an embarrassed look on his face..... blah, blah, blah.....

GROW UP!

In a PC world, you

have to be politically correct at all times.  Many people are sensitive about their children with disabilities.  I could see where his comment could be offensive.  However, it does not personally offend me and I have an autistic son myself.

I think a lot of people need to simmer down.  Yes, it was a bad joke and he probably should not have said it, but his main point was that he sucks at bowling....nothing more.

Political correctness has really hurt our country.  Any time someone says anything about color, sex, or race.....certain people will jump up and scream about it.  Being the president, you are under a much bigger magnifying glass.

It is my opinion that he probably shouldn't have said it....but it isn't the end of the world.  However, I'm sure if this had been Bush's goof.....the liberal media and dems would all be screaming about it.

So what? Not everyone in the world wants to become
N/M
How in the world is

this going to boost the economy?  Joe Biden said yesterday that he would tell his family not to go anywhere in confined spaces like airplanes, subways, etc.  The White House had to back peddle and rephrase what he said but I personally agree with Biden.  You won't see me flying anywhere, etc. until I know for sure how serious this is.  Less people are flying.  No one is flying to Mexico.  Do you know how devastating this will be to airlines, etc. if more and more people don't fly because of this?  The airlines are already hurting.

Blame Mexico?  It is true that this started in Mexico, but things happen.  I don't hate Mexicans.  I'm just tired of paying for illegal ones.  I don't blame them for this flu.  It could have started anywhere, etc. and as much as people travel...something like this was bound to happen some time.

I think your post sounds more like a conspiracy theory and I don't get into those.  Besides, we have no vaccine for this.  Money may have been given for research into a new flu vaccine but there is currently no vaccine for swine flu.  So I really don't see where you get that we got a vaccine and now all of sudden....boom....everyone has the swine flu.

This is something that cannot be blamed on the current administration.  I personally don't like the idea of Obama having been in Mexico with this all going on but we didn't know at the time.  I personally feel that Obama has handled this swine flu thing well.  He has tried to be informative yet to keep people from panicking at the same time.  I personally do not feel that this is something we can hold over Obama by saying he hasn't kept us safe because the swine flu is in the US.  I think that is just insane to say.   Besides, the normal flu strain kills thousands of Americans each year and no one thinks a thing about that.

Why in the world would say
something like that?  I know for a fact that these people take their religion very seriously.  I don't think we should be making rude comments about other religions.
Why in the world would they
create such a program when common sense tells you that you have to give people more than what they paid in.  Did they really think this was going to be sustainable?  I'm sorry but free Viagra?  I can't even get birth control covered by any health plan I've ever had and Medicare is making sure old farts can get a hard on for free.
