Changes I would like to see...

I would like to see transparency and accountability in government. I want my leaders to put their country and their service to the people who put them there before any party. I would like to see a balanced budget. But most of all, I would like to see a Congress that does not divide along party lines and will work together for the people...for us. They need to remember they work for US. My candidate is the only one who has said he will seek that and will put persons of all parties on his cabinet. Until they can work together, Washington will stay broken. Until they put country first, Washington will stay broken.

I would like for people who quote the Bill of Rights regarding religion to use the whole quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The Constitution provides for the free exercise of religion. I would like to see a change where people who do not believe do not discriminate against those who do. I would like to see an ACLU that protects ALL religions, including Christianity. They will go to court for a Muslim's right to wear a head covering but will go to court AGAINST a Christian who wants to wear a cross. That is discrimination. I would like for the attitude to change that just because some professes to be a Christian that means they should be "nowhere near the White House." That is discrimination. The founding fathers were devout Christians. This country is built on Christian principles. The majority of Christians are not "fanatics." There are also fanatic leftists...that does not mean all liberals should be judged by them, just like not all Christians should be judged by what some do in the name of religion. Too many in this country have lumped all Christians into the same barrel...not fair. As far as Christians leaving people alone, some are compelled the share the gospel. That is not intended to make anyone feel guilty or uncomfortable. All it is intended to do is share the information, and people can do with it what they like. We as Christians do believe in an eternal life after death, and want everyone to share in that. To those who don't believe, have a little tolerance. Like on this board. Just listen and move on, or tell the person you are not interested. Don't condemn an entire group of people. That is unAmerican. That is a change I would like to see.

I would like to see a country again where people from rural areas or who have abiding faith are not chided and ridiculed as "nascar" or "stupid." Basic human kindness needs to make a re-emergence and we need to ee the person...not their color, not their politics, not their religion. I would like to see the politics of personal destruction fade into the past, never to return.

I would like to see welfare reform where, unless a person is truly mentally or physically disabled, any kind of assistance is tied to a work program or education program to move them out of the lower bracket instead of keeping them there. I would like to see government reward American ingenuity instead of stifle it with taxes, taxes, taxes. I would like the government to live within its means. I especially like the idea of one year with no new programs while the new administration looks at existing programs, stops the ones that aren't working and shore up the ones that are. My candidate says he will do that. It is sorely needed.

And last of all, I would like to see America back to the place we were in the aftermath of 9-11...I do not mean another attack and disaster, I mean a country united. There were no Democrats and Republicans and Independents, Libertarians, et al. There were only Americans. That is the change I would like to see happen. Then perhaps this country will see the glory days of years past instead of the bitter partisan divide we now have.

I am a Christian. I should not be discriminated against because of that. This is my country just like it is the agnostics or atheists' country. There is nothing wrong with prayer. The Senate opens with prayer, has a chaplain, as does the House. God is on the currency, in the founding documents, on the walls of Washington buildings. That is the history of this nation. It is not a history to be ashamed of, it is a history to be proud of. And we who are Christians deserve to live in this country without discrimination and ridicule.

I would like to see some change in abortion laws so that it is not a convenient method of birth control. Phase in some responsibility. Do something to cut down the staggering number of abortions every year. Start somewhere. Start making it about not only the mother's life, but the child's life. This is America and it is a democracy, and the people's will should rule. and that is why it should be put to a vote of the people, not a few activist judges who, by that same Constitution, are forbidden to do so. Roe vs. Wade is unconstitutional and should be struck down. Then either the United States Congress should craft an abortion law or the individual states should do so, and the supreme court should stay out of it. This is a decision that should be made by all the people of the United States. I am sure the US Congress would foist it off on the states and we all know that probably NO state would outlaw it completely, and that many states would leave it wide open just as it is. Some would limit it. And that is how it should be. All of the people should have their say in this. Every American should be able to exercise "choice."

I want to see change in the health care system. I want insurance to be able to cross any state line and be available nation wide, not limited to certain areas. I would like to see competition in the marketplace so that costs can come down. I would like to see legislation that prohibits physicians and insurance companies getting into cahoots to try to monopolize the market. Physicians should have to take whatever insurance the person has, and insurance companies should be regulated to be sure they provide the coverage needed. I would like to see programs centered on wellness, for childhood obesity, preventative programs. I would like to see more clinics aimed at the lower income families so there are alternatives other than crowded emergency rooms. I do not want to see socialized medicine which will severely impact the quality of medical care available and will ultimately result in higher and higher tax burdens.

There is so much more...but no more time.
