from combining pedi- (foot) and egress (to leave).  Means to run like the devil out of a place.  I believe first use attributed to the great linguist Norm Crosby.

Could we all just agree not to pick at one another's little typo errors? After all, we are doing this on the fly, sandwiching it in between other activities,  and do not have spellcheck here.  How about we cut one another a little slack?
