That King's best friend, Ralph Abernathy, wrote in his 1989 autobiography that King was a womanizer? While he did not specify that he had actual extramarital affairs, he did not state that he didn't either. President Johnson called him a "hypocritical preacher."

While I will admit that King did a lot to further the civil rights movement in this country, I disagree with his stance that black Americans as well as other disadvantaged Americans should somehow be compensated for historical wrongs to the tune of $50 million dollars over a 10-year period. While I do not agree with slavery and think it was a horrible misdoing, I do not feel that the white Americans of today are in any way responsible for the misdoings of their anscestors some 100+ years ago and feel that King's views may have actually contributed to the chasm that is still felt today between blacks and whites in this country.

Sometimes people are not all that they appear to be.
