I agree excellent post! One that has to make one think.
I own Mississippi Burning. Good movie.
Excellent post and very well said. I couldn't agree with you more. nm

I wholeheartedly agree.

Well said! Agree wholeheartedly!

After the Bush years, he is a welcome change, in all ways.  Americans have to grow up about race issues, and I'm a white middle-aged woman who believes Obama may be our greatest president since FDR and JFK.  As you say, he brings no sense of partisanship, but he also talks of the Constitution, that it needs to be reinstated into our government.  Remember the Constitution?  Would be great to do away with the Patriotic Act and all of the criminal policies that King George would like to have in place permantently, like wiretapping, torture.  It is my opinion that if Obama is not elected, the middle class will be in a world of hurt.

I agree wholeheartedly
That is where the rubber meets the road. THAT is integrity.

I wholeheartedly agree with you

All I can say is no matter who wins, I will still have to get up tomorrow morning and deal with doctors who dont know enough NOT to dictate with food in thier mouth. Yippee.
I agree wholeheartedly!
Mrs. M's posts are intelligent, thoughtful, tolerant, and much appreciated by many of us. The racial slurs, smears, and downright lies have all come from the rabid right.
I agree wholeheartedly

Here is what the very best police force can do for you:

1.  Come to the scene of the crime and draw a nice chalk outline around your body.

2.  Investigate the crime and maybe make an arrest.

3.  Go to a prosecutor and see if s/he wants to try the case.  If it seems a slam-dunk, they might.

4.  Go to court and have every thought, deed and act of the entire investigation and arrest microscopically dissected by the defense.

5.  Wait for a verdict by a jury of the perp's peers.

6.  If the offender is convicted, follow the appeals process.  You may or may not even be notified or asked to testify in an appeal.

7.  Go draw another chalk outline around his newest victim if he wins his appeal, or when he is released after 'rehabilitation.'

IT IS BETTER TO BE JUDGED BY 12 THAN TO BE CARRIED BY 6.  However, remember the guy in Illinois who was exonerated for a self-defense shooting, but convicted for illegal possession of a firearm in the state, and Obama refused to support a change in that law.  This is a really catch-22 for those of us who don't want to be dead, but also don't want to be in prison.  (And I'm just too pretty to go to jail!)

Agree wholeheartedly
He's a Gutless Wonder.
I wholeheartedly agree that he didn't consider

the Constitution at all when running (not walking) into Iraq.  In fact, there are a multitude of things he didn't consider.  It seems the ONLY thing he considered was his potential legacy as a *great leader* and he *needed* a war to be seen as a war-time *Commander in Chief.*

As far as an article being left leaning, in case you hadn't noticed, you are posting on a predominantly left-leaning board.

As more facts concerning this President's outrageous behavior begin to surface, I believe the true character of this man will be revealed to those who are willing to see the truth.

Have a great evening.

Then I agree wholeheartedly with your point...
I would like to see it also. I would like to see the declassified document from the CIA where Joe Wilson (Valerie Plame's husband) supposedly corroborates Bush's speech about Saddam trying to buy yellowcake from Niger. I am sure that is something the Democrats would rather not make public knowledge. I would also like to know what they think they have as proof on Bush. Not guess, not innuendo, but hard proof that he lied. And I think if they had that, they would go forward. There are just too many questions that would be raised that Congress themselves would have a hard time answering...and I don't think they want to open Pandora's box. That is why I think it is political posturing because they viscerally hate the man (the Dems). And I have NEVER understood the degree that goes to. All that being said...I agree. They should make it all public, every last bit. I just wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

I agree wholeheartedly with you oldtimer -
My child struggles every week to pay her bills, her childcare, buy groceries for the kids - all on her own because at $10 an hour she makes too much to get any kind of help, but at the same time the doctors she works for are all driving nice new Hummers, Range Rovers, building million dollar buildings. And of course, they will be the first ones to complain about having to pay higher taxes.

I don't think that because she is their employee that she is working any less than them. Of course, they deserve to be paid good, but I think the "little people" who make it possible for you to run your business should get something along the line.
I hear ya and agree wholeheartedly

with booting them out.

We need new blood in there that are not tainted by money and lobbyists. We need representatives that ask 1 question when a bill comes up for vote: "What do my constituents think of this?"

We need the government to be "by the people, for the people". Not "by the government, for Wall Street."

Excellent post. Thank you. NM

I couldn't agree more with everything you wrote, right down to getting rid of Pelosi!  Bravo!
Excellent Post.
One of Clinton's major mistakes when he took office was appointing people with little or no experience.
Excellent post - Thank you
It gets so frustrating to have to repeat this over and over and over. The people (or most) that voted for him knows this to be true but they don't care. They don't care that the possible next prez is not US natural born. They don't get it and they don't care. They don't care that our constitution is being violated. Having him in there is going to open a lot of flood gates from people all around the world to now apply for the position of Prez. His staunch supporters knows this and to get around it they will call us sore losers, sour grapes or any other derogatory comment they can think of. For me it's not that I wanted McCain in cos I didn't. I just want the constitution to be followed and a US Citizen to be picked for our president. Then you've got the O strutting around trying to ignore the facts and get away with it. If he is elected by the electorates coming up in a couple weeks, then our constitution and laws mean nothing. Anyone is going to be able to do anything they wanted. Heck, I didn't want Hillary, but at least it's legal if she gets in. Then there is Kucinich, Clinton, and the others who ran. They are all US born, but has to make you wonder why the O skirted up so fast without having to prove anything. Really makes you wonder why he was picked and who was on the COB that picked him.

Thank you for your well thought out post. I'm glad I'm not alone in knowing something is just wrong with this whole thing.
Excellent post....(sm)
I noticed she has several more on there.  I'll have to go through them when I get a chance.  Thanks.

Excellent post, sm!!!

I couldn't agree more with everything you wrote.  I hope you keep writing posts like this.  It's one of the reasons I keep visiting this board.

Hope is something that's been lost for some of us for almost a decade now.

I admit that I'd lost mine, but now I do somewhat have it back.  I want to keep it, and that depends on MY actions and the actions of other Americans who also believe in hope.

I think yesterday's plane wreck in New York into the Hudson River is an excellent example of what truly patriotic Americans do when faced with a deadly situation, and it makes me seriously wonder what some on this board would have done if faced with the same situation.

WE need to change this country if we want change.  We will soon have a President who actually knows "we" exist and that not all Americans are billionaires.  We will have a President who can easily tell you how many homes he owns.  We will have a President who will treat the rest of the world as if they are human beings, certainly something they haven't felt in the last eight years and the main reason why the USA was so hated under Bush.

It was "us" who voted Obama into office.  I'm (hesitantly) hopeful and happy, and I'm glad I was one of "us," because from what I read on this board, being one of "them" must be a very sad and dreary existence.

Either way, we are ALL Americans, so we can all either get together and help make this country a better place, or some of us can just continue to moan and groan and complain about how bad things will be under a President who has yet to even be sworn in.

I never complained about Bush until he did things to deserve it.  The same with Clinton (and, yes, I DID complain a lot about Clinton's actions which I felt were very disrespectful to the Office of the President).  I will not complain about Obama UNTIL I truly have something to complain about.

He will be the first black American President, and as such, he has a much higher burden to haul than any white guy if there is ever to be a second black American President.

I'm willing to give him the chance.

Excellent post!

You nailed it again!!!

Excellent post! (sm)

"Insults in, insults out."  You nailed it.

Earlier today, I finally got sick and tired of all the insults, and I started firing back.

Then I realized that I had sunk down to their slimy level and became someone I normally am not.

I think if religion is removed from the Politics Board and is put where it belongs, on the Faith Board, this might be a more meaningful place to discuss political ideas.

However, for me, it's become too toxic of a place.  I can't believe these self-described "Christians" harbor so much hatred and rage.  It's really quite frightening at times because I'm not sure there's a limit to what they are willing to do to get their way and overturn the will of the American people.

I think I'm much better off leaving this board for a while and letting the goodness and happiness of life flow back into me because each time I visit here, it really brings me down.

I feel sorry for these people.  I hope they someday can look into their hearts and souls and feel some happiness and joy.  You are right that their hatred isn't contagious, but neither is joy and happiness.  That has to come from within, and I suppose, with all the rage and hate they possess, there just isn't enough room for goodness and light to enter.

Your posts are great.  Please keep posting.  As for me, I just can't take this hatred any more and need (at least) a break.

Here! Here! Excellent Post!!
Very well stated! I'm with you!!
Excellent post!
Thanks for taking the time to respond to the OP.
Excellent post
Very well said. I actually don't know where I fall politically. I'm not in any party. I just consider myself a patriot. Loved my country enough to join the service and protect it if we went to war (back when Reagan was president). I don't hate Obama and I don't love Obama. I didn't hate McCain and I didn't love him. I think each had their own qualities. Both had ideas they wanted to present to get the country out of the mess we're in. Both loved our country enough to want to make it a better place. There were a lot of other candidates who I felt were much better for the position (R. Paul, D. Kucinich, B. Richardson, and D. Hunter). I think each of them had excellent ideas and qualities. Unfortunately the better ones were pushed aside and this is what we were left with. No choice.

I too do not like being lumped in any political category. I'd like to be able to state how I feel about a topic without being jumped on and called names.

My biggest problem now is that everything is being controlled by one party. My understanding is the government is supposed to be working for us, but unfortunately that is not happening. They are working for themselves and making themselves richer while they destroy the economy along the way and they just don't care.

So it would be nice if we could speak how we feel about an issue on this board without being called names. I'm a person first. A person with very strong feelings and beliefs and it has nothing to do with party affiliation, it has everything to do with being true to my beliefs.

I'm glad there are people like you on this board and all the people that replied to you stating they feel the same way. At least I know I'm not alone.
Excellent post!!!!!

Thank you. Nancy Pelosi needs to be right up there as #1 co-conspirator.
Excellent post. . . . you are so right on
There is nothing enchanting going on in DC. It is time for us to speak out against all the double standards. It is time for the government to fear the people and the people to fear God instead of denying Him and putting their faith and trust in the government!
That's excellent- I agree with poster below
you should write an article.

The only info from my DH's grandparents were that his grandather said his family couldn't afford shoes and his feet were always cold, and my his grandmother said she was always hungry.

I did buy a cookbook of the great depression era and there are a lot of stories/recipes from people of that time.
Excellent post, Reader.
You really hit the target:) And of course, you are absolutely correct. MT has no credibility here, she blew it herself.

And I totally agree with you about lying - that is one thing liberals on the whole despise, but something you'll NEVER find the Cons stating that they hate. They can't, because it's just too easy to prove that lying is a Con way of life and they know it. So they attack us instead:) It's all they've got.
Excellent post, Starcat. (SM)
I suggest we don't feed the trolls.  They thrive on it.  I personally don't want to encourage them.
Excellent post. Thanks, Lurker.

Fear and ignorance.  The only way Bush knows how to lead.

Excellent post! You're 100% right.

Liberals run in tolerant circles.  The thought of others letting them *get away* with their own personal freedom of speech doesn't even occur to them.  They don't demand that every single American follow in step and say the *right* words...or else.  They promote truth and honesty and detest dirty tricks and lies that are designed to benefit the rich, while the poor work harder and get poorer.

I remember once upon a time when people like that were called Americans!

Excellent post, Teddy!
Thank you for your eloquent post. Hopefully, the trolls won't come out to tell you that you are guilty of treason and should leave the country because YOU are not willing to avert your eyes and do not pretend we do not commit atrocities.

You are in good company:

Bravo! Excellent post. (sm)

And 100% accurate.  I was reading the same posts you were reading.  Anything -- and I mean ANYTHING -- they could do to obstruct, they did, just as the Congressional Republicans are doing now.

Obama has kept his word about bipartisanship and has tried to include the Republicans -- meeting with them several times -- but it's a waste of time because they're more interested in obstructing everything Obama does instead of working together with him.

It seems as if some Republican governors are at least giving Obama a chance and trying to work together with him, or at least the Republican governors who care about the citizens they govern do.  I think most people can see the pathetic tantrums thrown by Congressional Republicans for what it is.

As far as Bush, I never voted for him, but I wasn't against him, either, at first.  In fact, the day he stood in that rubble at "Ground Zero" with that megaphone, I actually began to respect him.

However, that was short lived because once I realized that he was incapable of telling the truth, I lost any trust for him that I had had.  It was his ACTIONS that made me feel that way, not his party affiliation.

The PALPABLE hatred for Obama is overwhelming on this board and has been since well before the election.

(Obama now has the same powers that Bush had.  Perhaps THAT'S the problem!)

Excellent post and observation
You saw the same thing I did too. The Queen would never be so low class to point out one's error in front of others. MO should not have put her hand on the Queen's back, shoulder or touched her anywhere. She should have shook her hand and that was it.
Wow! Excellent and Intelligent Post
This is a very well written post. It is very refreshing.

I couldn't have said what you said better - this is perfect. Thanks for posting!
