FL and MI

I agree that the whole reason this is being looked at again is because the DNC doesn't want to alienate voters from MI and FL in the fall, even though the fault for this whole mess lies at the feet of their own state convention leaders, not the national DNC or even the candidates. They pushed up their primaries knowing full well they would be invalid if they did so mainly because they wanted more attention and to be more important than waiting until Super Tuesday and getting lost in the shuffle with all the other states. That is my understanding of it. Maybe they thought the rules would be overlooked, I don't know.

I think Obama's name wasn't on the ticket in MI because they knew it wouldn't count so they didn't bother. Clinton put her name on it anyway for the symbolic victory. Then again, they were both on it in Florida and they knew that wouldn't count either, so I don't know. Maybe it was up to the states themselves.

I think the only fair thing to do would be a revote in FL and MI or just stick to the original rules. Hillary is saying she has the popular vote right now by including FL and MI (and not giving Obama the "undeclared" votes in MI) and also by discounting some caucuses because in her opinion they should hold as much weight (conveniently since they are in favor of Obama), so she has some funny math going on. I just don't see how you can seat the MI delegates as is where she was the only one on the ballot. Florida, maybe. Then again, a lot of people stayed home and didn't bother to vote because they knew it wouldn't count, so that could have influenced the vote. It's just a mess. I think the DNC is going to end up seating some of the FL and MI delegates, but not all and not in a proportion that would really make a difference anyway.
