In Reply to: I think they should go bankrupt. Unions didn't cause it - - greedy CEOs & bad cars caused it. (nm) Topaz

Unions are a huge reason as to why GM is going under.  I get so sick and tired of hearing about how GM was stupid for making big trucks and SUVs.  Well, car companies make what consumers want.  At that time, consumers wanted big trucks and SUVs.  It wasn't an issue until gas prices went through the roof.  GM makes very good vehicles.  I've owned and driven GM for years and will drive nothing else.  You will not find me driving a foreign piece of crap.

I agree that GM needs to file bankruptcy and restructure things.  There are several things involved in GMs going under.  Their legacy costs are huge.  They have allowed people to retire at younger ages and still receive large pensions, etc.  The union has sucked major money out of GM.  Both of these things were not a problem until gas prices went up and then our economy took a nose dive.  Now people aren't buying vehicles because they are losing jobs or are too afraid to buy cars and GM can't afford their legacy costs or the union costs because people just aren't buying vehicles.

For you to say that the unions have nothing to do with this.....that is just ridiculous.  Wise up!
