Get the facts - not fear - and for pete's sake stop being so nauseating

In Reply to: don't mean to make any - bluestraveler

you probably don't know who I'm addressing it to and I want to keep it that way.

It's good you support your candidate, but this rhetoric back and forth, mine is more experienced than your, you'll be crying all the way to the polls while I'm laughing, blah, blah, blah.

Truth is we don't know who will win. One thing I'm seeing is most don't like any choice, but you hate one so much that you belittle the other side to prop yours up.

Also I'm not seeing anyone do any research. It's just mine has more experience than yours but no facts to back it up. Again - yada yada yada.

To me none of them are overly qualified. Some I can't stand, but I don't have that "I love this candidate or that candidate".

I just say stop belittling others until you can come up with hard facts as to why one is more qualified than the other. (well even then don't belittle others - just state the facts).

Oh, for pete's sake, stop with the Palin bashing... sm
We know that you hate her. Big surprise.

The more you bash McCain/Palin, the better they look.

Makes Obama look bad, the way his supporters trash her continually.

oh for pete's sake
The far right is reading something sinister into this. Even your link acknowledges that Obama voted against this bill with an intentionally inflammatory name because of technical wording that would infringe upon Roe v. Wade but wasn't opposed to the federal version with different wording. He's not in favor of leaving babies to die. For pete's sake, no one is. These kinds of bills are thrown around all the time by both sides just so they can use it as ammo against the other side later, things like Women's Human Rights bill and Anti-baby Mutilation Act, so when the other sides votes for or against their opponent can say, "you voted against women's human rights," or "you voted in favor of baby mutilation."
Oh for Pete's sake, it won't work.

It will go underground.  Like it or not, it is tied now to big business.  You quoted it.  This will not induce responsibility.  You stand by your beliefs because you feel it just and it makes you feel good without much thought about the ramifications, the immediate and the future.

It is this kind of behavior that drives me nuts.  This is the same behavior of why we as the United States are looked upon with such scorn pretty much around the world because we keep pushing our beliefs on others because we feel it just and it makes us feel good without much thought or regard to the people and the possible outcome.  Not to mention, it tends to prey on the weak.

I think the method of abortion is what gets you all riled up.  Would it make you feel better if abortions were all done chemically?  Probably wouldn't be near as adamant about it, the vividity of it is what gets your attention.  Too bad the site of bloodied, mangled, bodies of men, women, and children of those who die during war doesn't ignite the same fire in your heart.

George Carlin said this back in the 70s and it always stuck in my head.  "Religion is like a lift in your shoe, just don't nail lifts to the natives feet".

Oh for Pete's sake. Why should this be an issue? sm
The one that springs to mind is John Edwards $400 haircuts.

I mean, really. Of course they want her to look good while she's on the campaign trail.

Why don't you ask who pays for Obama's , or Michelle Obama's wives wardrobe? Oh wait, maybe those were paid for by the gazillions of dollars he gets donated by anonymous donors overseas....or wherever.

This is really a nonissue for most people. You all are just trying to rile things up.
For Pete's sake, I agree. Let me say, CARE PACKAGES ARE A GREAT THING TO DO!
Let's all send care packages. I will check out the web site you provided and if it's legit my heart and pocketbook will lead me. Trust me, to your surprise I'm not a stingy old witch sitting here not willing to give a dime to the troops but yet preach about how much I love them. Don't believe that, well then it only rains under your cloud.

Where the disconnect is, is that you think that people are not allowed to be against this war, against this administration, and still be for the troops. When you come here and tell us what the troops are asking for in the form of care packages, it ticks me off even more with this administration for putting them in this situation, but you have reminded me that they are with needs and wishes and for their sacrifice we all should give to them.

In discussing this, our conversation can not be limited to care packages. Let me applaud you in all sincerity for being proactive and on top of sending the packages you have put together. I know you will make someone in Iraq's day brighter, a big hats off to you! I just happen to think they shouldn't be in this predicament anyway and on that we may never see eye to eye and that's fine.

nauseating, isn't it?
x
Because its nauseating
Didn't you understand my post. I'm glad your happy, as I will be happy when in 1474 days we will get someone else who will be American born. Now...here's my open mind. If they change the constitution that anyone in the world can run for president then yes it will be legal, but until then the last thing I read was the constitution said a requirement for being president is you need to be an american born and last I knew Kenya was not part of the US.

The childish countdowns are nauseating. I'm not stopping you from being happy, but in the same rights let me be happy to.

P.S. - what is "me thinks" and what is "doest" mean.

On a last note jj, I don't agree with many of your posts but I would like to thank you for the maturity you showed in your last sentance by saying "changing of the guard". That's what it is. At least you gave dignity to the office by saying calling it "the guard".
Isnt that just nauseating? SM

These people who support McCAin and his whacko side show Palin just make me so ill.  Its like they just crawled out of their backwoods society to make an appearance because for once in their life they have something brought to the table that you dont even need smarts to talk about... Racism.  It doesn't take a genius to be a racist....  These people are so shallow and closed minded.  Racism to me is nauseating.  It is something I just cannot even stomach....  In the same way I cannot stomach Hitler.

And the whole issue of patriotism....  America is all about multiculture.  Americans come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ethnicity...  YOu want to talk patriotism....  Then maybe you should support your "Native Americans."  If you want patriotism, then look no further than the purebreed americans.....  I mean if you are going to take it back to its roots.  Otherwise, get used to the fact that we are not all the same and get off your high horse, you stupid old white folk!!!!

And if I have to hear one more time about how Obama is going to be "Taxing us" I could just scream.  He wont be taxing me.  I for sure do not make over 250K a year.  And for people who are concerned about "businesses" being taxed and not able to hire people.....  When was the last time you encountered a company that cared about their employees anyway...  They have been taking advantage of their employees for years.... Cutting benefits, not keeping up with pay increases, outsources rather than hire you anyway.

Well enought ranting for me....  All I can say is God Bless Obama!!!!!  And if he doesn't win, we are all in for some deep doo-doo.

This is totally nauseating - see message
I just watched this and I am so totally nauseated by Obama, his radical viewpoints and what he stands for and what he has done and what will happen to our country if he is elected. I'm going to post another message above with a link that you've got to watch. I wished I had a voice like The Hon. James David Manning because that is how loud I'd be shouting. This is truly a terrifying time for our country. I just want to shout and scream - what is wrong with everyone. Why can't they see. Do we have that many Americans living in this country that feel the same way Ayres or Wright does and wants to vote someone like Obama in. I don't get it. I just don't get it and after watching these videos tonight I get sick just thinking what will happen to our country if he is elected.
Just following in lines of being absolutely nauseating
Since every single day when I get on I see a dem posting how many days left til change of office I too am following their lead and will post how many days until the next president comes in. If people don't like it then don't count down every single days how many days left until this change.

Oh, I hope Obama does a good job, after all I did vote for him in the primaries (I didn't vote in the general election), but I just wanted to show how absolutely nauseating and ignorant of the person who keeps posting how many days left til the change of this office.

I'm looking forward to GW finally being gone, but I am getting a bit nauseated (do you understand yet how sick I am of it) at the absolute ignorance and arrogance with people doing a countdown - hence, my countdown too. I'm very open-minded, hope all goes well and there are a lot of people in government I would love to see in office (always keep an open mind). I am always looking forward to the future.

As you said - just my two cents.
Fear Mongerer? Obama? McCain and Cheney were fear mongerer
and they STILL ARE !
Oh for the love of Pete...LOL nm

Oh for the love of pete!!!!

Nice spin on that one.  Sheesh.  I can handle my life quite well thank you but as a parent we all deal with sleep deprivation and I do believe I killed a spider in my bathroom this morning.

I guess you are right.  You might as well not talk to me about this because, unlike you, I would much rather try to save American lives and prevent another strike on US soil instead of worrying about a terrorist and whether or not they are comfortable enough in Gitmo.

I didn't know Pete had a brother. LOL!
God bless!
A *fear tactic* . . .What is to fear in a
bother you!
I hope for your sake

your brother or son are never on the wrong side of a divorce case that involves a politician.  To reach down from the Governor's office into a matter belonging to the trooper's direct superiors is nothing  but abuse of power and vindictiveness.  That should scare the blue right off your hair.

Oh for heaven's SAKE

What's next, that pie he was eating looked exactly like Elvis? Good grief.
Addendum for sake of clarity.
For the sake of clarity, the hearings on the The Imperial Presidency of GW Bush and Possible Legal Response are being conducted in the House Judiciary Committee, not the House of Representatives since, like the energy bill, Pelosi's position is one of "impeachment is off the table." Just how long she can keep it off the table is anybody's guess. John Conyers is skeptical by nature and, in the past, has been lukewarm and uncommitted one way or the other on impeachment. Evidently he has changed his mind when confronted with evidence he could no longer ignore. This was discussed by him during his interview on Democracy Now! in one of those programs back in June. Though he was not willing to comment on "an ongoing investigation," he did make it quite clear that he will exhaust all avenues in "getting to the bottom" of the issues that are being raised in this HDC process and take appropriate action.

For goodness' sake, where did critical thinking go?
It's an editorialized article that includes many statements and facts meant for the reader to consider. It's not something intended to be only true or not true. You're supposed to THINK about it and measure it against what you know and come to your own opinion about it, and if it jars you, check out the facts for accuracy yourself. What has happened to the right's ability to think soundly?
For heaven's sake, READ THE ARTICLE.
the part about charges dropped WITHOUT PREJUDICE. It means that the charges can be brought against him again AFTER the review has concluded and the new policies are in place. Also, pay especialy close attention to the part where it says that Abd Al-Rahim will REMAIN IN CUSTODY. Does that sound like a free pass?
I will not stop trying to stop the slaughter of the unborn in this country...
I never said you were a stupid wretch. What I said was, if you can watch that video below and not feel something, your heart must be seared over. If you can watch that video and advocate what you advocate, yes, I'm sorry, I find that cold. I am entitled to my opinion and all your ranting and name calling and belitting is not going to change that. Someone needs to speak for the child. You certainly aren't allowing it any rights, including the right to live. You are okay with that, I'm not.
No one uses "peahen", so I insist on the "Mr." for sake of clarity.

Facts are facts - sorry you don't like it cos it doesn't support your candidate
You can't change facts. That's what makes them facts. You may not like it but that's the way it is.

Facts are facts. No bash intended.
It will be this stellar record from which voters will be assessing her and her running mate.
If you're offended, too bad. Facts are facts...
I know Muslims in this country who have turned from the hateful evil beliefs that were forced down their throats. They did not have the freedom to learn anything else growing up. But after they gained their freedom and came here, they were able to receive the Word of God and they have told me that NEVER were they taught anything about loving others, just other Muslims, and that the God they learned about spoke of nothing but killing and hate... so if Obama is receiving large donations from those middle eastern countries, as you say, and he is grounded in Muslim culture, being taught this in school for years as a child, do you honestly think he doesn't carry some of those beliefs with him? He's never denounced it.

Facts, stick to the facts...sm
The subject here is the media and their treatment of Gov. Palin, which continues to this day, to this minute, by the liberal left.

Tthe media threw down their gauntlet as soon as she was picked on that Friday, and hounded her for almost a full week.

And you think she should have waved a white flag at them in her acceptance speech? She put them on notice, that she is above them. And continues to be, with grace and style.

She's not whining, and neither are we.

I just shake my head at your audacity.

The media is the one that started this with her, and you would do well to remember the facts in her case.

IN this case, the facts are the facts.........

Fear
Fear is a rational response when based on facts. It has enabled humans to survive throughout history, giving us the sense to run from something that is dangerous and encouraging us to use our wits to make good decisions to ensure our future survival. It was your fellow committed dems below who said their reasoning for not liking Palin is because "she creeped them out" and they don't like her voice. Is that the type of voters we want?
Nothing to fear
abide by the law. Why does that scare you?
I fear you are right.
They will be back under this administration. That, however, doesn't mean they are any good. it just means they will be there. Then we shall see whether they help or harm.
More fear??
I absolutely agree with you.  It seems that the harder Obama works to clean up the mess left by Bush the more ridiculous over-the-top the accusations get from the Repubs and Conservatives.  Really, it is okay to not agree with Obama but come on-if you need to b***h, at least make it real.  Trying to increase unemployment to wipe out capitalizism?? Puleez!!
Politics of fear?
Intrigued by what is scaring you and why. A few questions. Politics of fear. Which party embodies and promotes this concept? Why? Whose agenda does it serve? Who benefits? More importantly, who doesn't? Visions of terrorists licking their chops with itchy trigger fingers? Where is this coming from? Media? Party rhetoric? Bush/Cheney/McCain? If you think they will attack "no matter who the president will be" then the politics of fear and its manipulation is working well on you and we are all doomed to repeat that anguish. So you fight fear with more fear and leave that weapon in the hands of a hot head? Does that scare you more or make you feel more safe? Do you want to base your vote on a surrender to fear?

Now, how about that other conference table vision? You fear the Obama cult? What is it that they are following? Hope? Vision? A different approach? What does the alternative have to offer? An alliance of diplomacy?

While doing your research, it might help you to go to the following link and read it in it's entirety, including all the links embedded under At a Glance. Would be very interested if you are still having those visions and feeling as frightened after your research.
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/foreignpolicy/#diplomacy

My fear is that if we bail them out

what have they learned.  They obviously won't have any consequences to their actions.  We will be the ones to suffer for their greed and crimes.  However, what is to become of us if we don't bail them out?  I really don't know the answer to this.  I am just thoroughly ticked off that our government has allowed things to get like this.  Now they are sitting around crying and whining, pointing fingers, wanting special interests included in the bill, etc.  I'm just so disgusted.

The fear of Obama --

Why do some people think that 1 person can change everything?  I've read comments on various sites, injecting fear that Obama is the one they speak of in Revelations, that he is a muslim trying to infiltrate this country from the inside out.

I hope that if anything can be learned by this recent economic situation, it is that 1 person, even the "top dog", can't bring about a change unless everyone else is on board.  Pres Bush himself couldn't even get this bill passed.  If he's top dog and he can't make that kind of change, why the fear that Obama could?

Excuse me, but we should fear someone who has a

Fear mongering. Do you ever have anything...sm
positive to say? You are the one who is marching in lock step with the republican party. There are good, average and bad in each party. No one is all bad or all good. Get it?

Obama knows the fear everyone has
He knows everyone is so worried about the economy that many will ignore his associations, his true feelings and where they lie.  Unfortunately, many are doing just that.
I fear for his life.

I truly do worry about Barrack Obama for the simple fact that there are nut jobs out there who would rather he be killed than take the presidency.  We've already had one plot to take his life.  I hate to say that I believe there will be more.  I will not be voting for Barrack Obama and I do believe he is a liar and will drag this country down into the dumps, but I do not wish him any harm.

If, God forbid, something horrible should happen to Barrack Obama....I believe it will tear our country apart.  It will segregate us and racism will become even worse than it is now.  We could potentially have our own civil war started with all of this.

The only thing we have to fear is

I really think that this is a ridiculous fear. sm
Should it happen, feel free to say, "I told you so." But I really think that you are all being just about as ridiculous as those saying the Obama is the antichrist. Neither is very likely in my opinion.
