Here, I think I have it straightened out

The last time this was posted I wrote a reply, but it’s been so long, I cannot find it.  I’ll try to remember some of what I said.

I’ve never heard Obama referred to as “exotic”.  I’d like to see the reference.  Even at that, that is a great compliment.  Who wouldn’t have loved to have the chance to grow up in Hawaii (blue waters, sandy beaches, and everyone’s dream vacation).  I’ve also not ever seen any reference describing her as a “quintessential American story”.  You have to admit that hunting moose is not your average activity for most Americans, but neither is growing up in the beautiful state of Hawaii.

Nobody is saying he’s an unpatriotic Muslim because his name is Barack.  We’re saying it appears he’s unpatriotic because he won’t hold his hand over his heart when the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem is being recited, and he has removed the American Flag from everything (only he and his family really know if he is patriotic or not).  He just also happens to have been a Muslim (again only he and his family know if he still is).  Besides, he should be proud of his heritage and not run away from it.  On the same hand no one has said that being a maverick has anything to do with what her children’s names are.

Nobody certainly has accused him of being unstable because he graduated from Harvard Law School.  On the contrary.  Most everyone states he is a very intelligent individual that graduated at the top of his class.  We applaud him.  As for your description of Gov Palins’ schooling, can you make it sound like she is any less because she didn’t attend Harvard, Yale, or one of the tops.  There are a lot of reasons why people go to more than one school.  In fact in Obama’s biography it says he graduated from Columbia first.  So does the article mention that Barack went to two schools?  My husband attended at least 7 different colleges.  All because they were either not offering the courses he needed or the location we lived in.  To put her down because of this is completely ridiculous.

Barack was a community organizer.  That’s it!  The term brilliant is how people describe him.  Some may think he was brilliant and others may not.  Seems the article is trying to make him more than what he really was.  Also if you read up about his time as President of the Harvard Law Review, it was a full time volunteer position that functioned as editor-in-chief.  And he was picked for the position because of his grades and a writing competition.  He also worked as a summer associate,  taught at law school, was an attorney, and is a junior senator.  As for all the other little piddly and volunteer things he did you can prop it up all you want.

Governor (that’s right Governor) Sarah Palin has had an outstanding career.  By the way the article you posted was incorrect.  She was not a “local weather girl” (quite condescending and that would be like calling you a “typist”).  She was a TV News Anchor and reported on sports.  She was a member of the Wasilla Alaska city councel for 3 years and mayor for 6 years (which she beat out a 3-term incumbent mayor).  She chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004, and she has been the Governor of Alaska for 2 years.  She has cut taxes, balanced a budget, fought against big government (and won!).  She has a 93% approval rating with Alaska voters and an 89% approval rating among all voters.  She cut back on pork-barrel spending.  She killed the bridge to nowhere project which saved millions and got a bill approved for AGIA.  There’s much much more about her great accomplishments but people can research themselves.  As for the size of Alaska…it’s more than twice the size of Texas, and the democrats should be careful about stating that Alaska was small, after all they were all for Howard Dean and his state of Vermont.

Now it gets into the topic of marriage and this is where the article loses any credibility.  Instead of comparing Obama with Palin, like it has been doing all along, it is now comparing Obama to McCain.  Wouldn’t you think this odd?  The truth is…

Barack and Michelle have been married for 19 years and they have 2 beautiful daughters.

Todd and Sarah have been married for 20 years and they have 5 beautiful children.

John and Cindy have been married for 28 years and they have 7 beautiful children.

As for John cheating on his first wife and leaving her because “she was not pretty” (one other poster stated that) you don’t know.  Nobody knows anything about the first marriage, and nobody knows what his first wife was doing to him while he was in war away from home.  Besides, out of the settlement his first wife was given 2 homes, all medical expenses paid, and she is the one who granted him the divorce and they have remained on good terms since.

Teaching young children in kindergarten about having safe sex is NOT responsible.  I don’t care what anyone says.  This is not the age we should be teaching kids.  Sheesh! Let them learn how to read first before teaching them how to have sex!  The fact is she did not advocate abstinence only with no other sex education option.  As for her daughter becoming pregnant.  Since when should she be responsible for what her daughter does.  Her daughter is old enough to know what she wants in life and if she wants to have a baby there is nothing her mother or father can do, but to put the responsibility on Sarah that her daughter is pregnant?

Nobody has ever said anything about Michelle’s family values.  The reason people said anything about Michelle is because she announced to the country that she has never been proud of her country.  ONLY after Obama started running for president did she become “proud”.  However the democrats are pretty good at attacking Gov. Palins family values because her daughter is pregnant and because she chose to have a baby with Down’s syndrome instead of aborting him.

And why was it was okay to be saying that Bill Clinton could be “first dude”, but now it’s not okay that Todd Palin will be “first dude”.  Utter nonsense.  Besides.  There is no title for the spouse of the VP.  Never has been.  But I guess the people who think it’s “kewl” made that one up.  Speaking of which we won’t even go into the “first dude’s” past history unless you want to drudge back up all of Bill Clintons past (after all you were all okay with him being “first dude”.  And so what that Todd didn’t register to vote until 25.  You act as though that’s a crime.  I don’t blame him at all.  With the choices we have had in the past I did not register and didn’t vote either.  And to pull up that he doesn’t have a college education.  Since when was that a requisite for being a spouse to the vice president.  That is the most egotistical statement I’ve ever heard.  So instead of sitting at a desk 8 hours a day, learning to be brainwashed by the instructors and become good at taking tests, he worked for a living to support a family.  He is a commercial fisherman, oil field worker, and a member of the United Steelworker.  He’s worked 18 years for an oil company in the fields.  I’d say a lot more important than sitting in a classroom with your fellow “dudes” while eating Doritos, drinking beer and “cramming” for the next test.

So, it that a little more clear now.
