I am proud of strong, intelligent women... sm

In Reply to: No, its just that you are so "proud" of the people - dislike or hate her -turns me off about liberals.n

Expressing their opinion and speaking out. Just because they're not infatuated with SP and disagree with her idealogy doesn't mean what they're saying is hateful. I've seen much more hateful things here on this board than on that blog.

You (and a lot of people) seem to be taking any negative comments about SP very personally. Is there no critism of her you'll stand? Come on. McCain wants her to be the VP and no one who thinks otherwise can say anything about her w/o it being "hateful" ? How ridiculous.

I don't agree with her views on the issues. It's not personal. I'm sure she's a lovely person, I'm just not convinced she's the best person for the job. In a nutshell, that is my problem with McCain's choice of her for his VP.

You don't think there are strong, intelligent women...
who express their opinions in favor of Palin?

The conservative posters on this board are no more sensitive about Palin than the other side is about Obama.

It is not personal for me either. I'm sure Obama is a nice person...and I am personally sure he is not the right man for the #1 job. He has a socialist agenda and socialist policies and I think that would be disastrous for America. That in a nutshell is my problem with him.
What happened to women sticking up for women?

Still going strong.
Wow, I think we should put you in charge of the AARP euthanasia project. He has few years let? Did you happen to see his MOTHER at the RNC?

And it's kind of silly that you equate your not being able to lose weight with someone else's inability to be vital at 72. (Here's a tip - more calories out/fewer calories in - guaranteed to work every single time. If it's something you still want, don't give up. But, please, stop superimposing your defeatist attitude on the man, will ya?)

I'll flip the coin for you.

Obama is still wet behind the ears. He has less actual executive experience than the guy ringing up change at your local Pizza Hut. Why doesn't he wait until he's lived a little, learend a LOT, and can contribute something to the Oval Office?

My sympathies on the imminent loss of your grandfather, since obviously 72 is death's doorstep. Shame on you.

The union was also very strong until

the economy started really going under after 9/11.  At GM, if you were "laid off" you still received 95% of your pay.  They would get the regular unemployment benefits and GM would supplement the rest.  This was in their contract, which to me is GMs fault, not the employee.

If it was a permanent layoff, then you went to the job banks, where you would sit for 40 hours a week, receive full pay and schooling if you wanted it.  They only allowed so many people in the job banks, but it was numbering in the thousands at one point.  These people also had the option of volunteering in the community instead of just sitting there.  I know 3 that went on to get their degrees in other lines of work and about 10 that waited there until retirement.

This was set up in the 70s when the first massive layoff hit.  This guaranteed that GM would hire back the employees that were laid off instead of hiring people off the streets.  Another union thing.

I think Amanda is right from below.  They made a lot of money over time and now that things are bad again, they didn't plan ahead and budget their money.  No one is going to bail me out, pay my mortgage, feed my family, electric bill, etc.  I know that having them go down is going to hurt many people and that is not what I want, but the bailouts that have already happened have not shown the execs to be responsible in any way.  My father will be one of those losing their health benefits as well and he has medical conditions too as well as my mom.  My husband works for one of their suppliers so we are affected as well.  My husband busts his rear day in and day out for $17 an hour with no benefits.  Overtime is not allowed.  I guess I just want them to show responsibility.

Palin is strong, secure.
nm
She's threatened by a strong woman, that's why.
How typical of women. To call each other 'stupid' and get catty and snipy at the thought of a woman getting farther ahead than the rest of the pack.

Palin is doing a fine job of governor. Do you think YOU could handle that? I doubt it. You sound more like the sit-in-her-kitchen-and-paint-vegetables type of gal. Yeah, I'm sure that takes a MENSA brain.

Pathetic.

Them's strong words Mr Dean!

John Dean on MSNBC: Dik Cheney may be guilty of "murder"

Investigative reporter Seymour Hersh’s bombshell earlier this week that Vice President Dik Cheney controlled an “executive assassination ring” continues to reverberate throughout Washington, with Nixon aide John Dean going so far as to accuse the former VP of murder if the charges are true.

Went to a tea party yesterday of 11,000 strong.

What an event!  Gives me hope that there are still plenty of us in this country who are not afraid to stand up and be counted.

Wow!  I just love being called a "rich" person funded by Fox News as the only participants as CNN would have you believe who would show up.  My tea party was strictly grass roots, funded by $5.00 contributions, not an event hosted by George Soros at $1500 or more a head.

I'm an MT.  I sure as heck ain't rich.  I work for a living, and I don't want to pay for your mortgage, your education, your health care, or helping your fanny reduce your carbon imprint.  I want my grandchildren to have all the opportunities I have had in living in this country with the rights to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.

I'm going to D.C. on July 4th.  I love my country.  I'm standing up.  How about you?

It's time to take our country back and give the boot to Onuto.

Economy is strong according to McCain today....sm

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/15/mccain-defends-economy-comments/#comments

Please people think twice about voting for this OUT OF TOUCH man!!!

Could he have picked a worse day to say this.  Major companies going bankrupt, record unemployment rates, retirement nest egg going down the drain, gas at $5.00 a gallon, energy costs rising, groceries through the roof....on and on....

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...This man doesn't know a bad economy if it slapped him in the face.

What, a strong, conservative woman scares you?
nm
I'd venture to guess a strong majority, just like the ones
You seem to be a bit hostile toward popular mandate, majority rule and other such precepts on which our countr wsa founded.
It's pretty obvious her strong points are not selling herself.
and this country.
Me, sexist? That's laughable, being a very strong independent woman myself, but
I am afraid of a woman who has some sort of God complex and has nothing to lose.  We should all be very afraid by somebody like that!
6.5% is a pretty strong margin for "such a poor choice"
and any pretense on your part to know why someone did or did not vote for him is pure speculation. As for me, not only was he the best choice by a long-shot, but he hold the promise of being a great leader...in Colin Powell's words, a "tranformational figure" at a time when the country needed it the most.
I'm not proud of it
just trying to use your formulas for determining aid to people which translates into dollar signs.  You really can't have a beef with Bush, because he's throwing as much or more.  I don't think throwing more and more money is going to solve the poverty woes of this country which are mostly rooted in moral deprivation.  Money will never be able to fix moral deprivation.
I never said I was proud.

Bush has made mistakes.  I will not disagree with that at all.  However, you cannot solely blame him for this economic crisis when there are so many things that factor into this and it includes many other people besides G.W. Bush and I'm frankly more concerned about the solution to these problems and not who to point to for blame because I don't have that many fingers to point blame to all who were involved in this.

Very proud indeed!
Yes, I'm proud to have roots in Israel.

Whoopdie-doo if your heart bleeds for Palestinians. They brought it all on themselves, and they're still bringing it on.

You have a very short-sighted view of history. My history goes back thousands and thousands of years.

Your seems to begin whenever it suits your purpose.

Palestinians are SQUATTERS! Just because you only recognize history after the Muslim INVASION does not give your Palestian pals claim to the land. This isn't a matter of 'finders keepers.'

And, who blasted the first rockets after the cease fire, braniac? They came from Hamas! From Palestians! So if you want that river to stop running red, maybe you should work on knocking some sense into the Hamas terrorist leaders.
You have every right to be proud of your son.......sm
It is very apparent he is proud of his country.
Yes, right, because all of the women who
have abortions are simply sluts who can't keep their legs closed. Nobody has an abortion because they were raped and victims of a horrible abuse.

I'm not for abortion but I don't have to be pro-life to see the ignorance in your post.
All I can say is Hollywood would be proud...
Quite an acting job. I call it *cheerleading.* Trying to push people into an emotional frenzy. There are many that think pushing someone into an emotional frenzy will get them to make a decision for the Lord. Trouble is, that just confuses people and when the emotion wears off the *cheerleaders* are gone, the person who has made the *decision* is confused, does not know why all the emotion left and begin to question, and have no place to turn. I personally believe the choice for God is not made in the heat of an emotional moment but in a moment of quiet, clear clarity built on a solid base of faith. I do not mean to cast aspersions on anyone's choice of faith. It is just easier to get through the every day if you have that quiet, strong knowledge of faith and not expect to slide through life on an emotional freight train. That does not mean I do not have my emotional moments, because I do; usually associated with music because that is one of the ways God speaks to my heart. However, those who make an emotional decision not based on faith and knowledge of God's word get disenchanted when the *cheerleaders* are gone. That is why counselors are present at the Grahams' gatherings, so that people can talk quietly with someone and understand their decision before it is made. That way they have something concrete to hold onto when the emotion goes away. Just my two cents worth.

God bless!

Nasty and proud of it.....obviously. And...
definitely not someone who should be calling someone else ignorant. But, since your opinion means les than nothing to me...knock yourself out.
You seemed pretty proud yourself
Like the other poster said, own up or take cover. Defend your candidate's views and positions or bash, slam ad slur to an audience of 1.
I bet you have. Your mother must be so proud. nm

Great. Be proud. I'm not saying...sm
Not to be, and I'm not saying she hasn't accomplished anything. But that doesn't make her qualified to be the VP. Her resume is tissue-paper thin, and the McCain camp trying to inflate it is starting to backfire. The whole thing is just ill-advised. Pure pandering on McCain's part.

That's what I meant above when I said some women are taking her nomination too personally, like this is our one and only chance to ever have a woman in the White House, and there will never be another! LOL

It will happen, and when it does, I want a woman who is qualified, not a woman who, IMO, is blinded by ambition and is being *used* as a shill by right wing MEN. This is no great thing to be proud of for woman. Don't fall for it.

Are you proud of Bush's
"accomplishments?" You keep defending him. If he hadn't given those big tax cuts to the wealthy in the first place and hadn't started an unnecessary war in Iraq, we wouldn't be in this big financial mess. You don't cut taxes in a time of war...oh...unless you're a pub. They always seem to have it backwards. Everything they do is the opposite of what should be done. I'm sick of it and can't wait for a fresh start. It'll take time, but after Obama gets elected, he'll turn this country around.
Did she not say she was not proud to be American...
until now with her husband running for president. I think that says a lot. And since you don't know one thing about me either, do not go making assumptions my race, nationality, religion, my political affiliation, my attitudes, intelligence or anything else
I'm proud of Arkansas s/m

Arkansans, typically Republicans, kicked Mike Huckabee to the curb and elected a Democrat, Mike Beebe.  He's straightened out the mess.

I am proud that RW is being allowed to
been convicted and knows in HIS heart to be right without fear. I hope there has been no compromise or deal in the background made and I do not believe RW is of this character. I am afraid that you are right, the people who elected Obama will not be listening to what RW will have to say because they do not know who he will be talking to. I know this is just something for you and a lot of others to just laugh off, but one of the saddest days of this election was the day the Billy Graham Ministry resigned as as pastor/counselor to the the president since serving in that capacity since Eisenhower. They resigned just a few days after Nov 4.
So right, I am not proud of our country either but
nothing to do with O.
Proud to be an American again
Hooray for Obama. He has given America back its hopes and dreams...
why in the WORLD are you proud of this???
you are PROUD of this spending bill? you are PROUD that your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren are going to bear the burden of this disgusting act of social programs that are thrown in to further the dems agenda? i dont know how they have a conscience passing such a thing. During the election campaign didn't Obama speak in disgust about Bush's spending?? and he turns around and whips out the BIGGEST SPENDING BILL EVER!!!

i feel sorry for you for backing your party just because you belong to it.

If this was truly to help the economy this much money wouldn't be needed.

our country is in BIG trouble but wants a quick fix. something needs to be done, but THIS?
this is too much
and it is very scary

wake up!!!
You must be so proud of your research
I'll stick by my kool-aid comment, however, that was not in this post and I'm sick of people calling me ignorant because I believed both countries were in the middle east. These wars have been going on for so long I'm sick of it all.

As for reality I have a pretty good grip on it. You know for a fact there are people who voted for Obama just because he's black! That's reality sista. I know because my brother and his friends boasted on how they didn't know his policies and they didn't care. He's black, we're black so therefore we have to vote for him because he's black. Sorry you don't like to face reality. How about the people interviewed that said that if Obama was president they wouldn't mind Sarah Palin as VP. Oh yeah, those people really understand Obama's policies. How about the people who were told McCains plan and they said yeah, that's why I'm voting for Obama, those plans there you just said. How about the thousands and thousands of people who kept boasting about if Obama gets in office that our troops will be coming home from the middle east.

I'm in touch with reality here, you are not!

And for your information. I did not attack anyone who replied to my post here but plenty attacked me for my beliefs and questions.

WEll then, be proud of your friend's son! nm

Both are very beautiful women. nm

Right back at ya! Come over here where women....
are not dissed by their party. Our door is always open! :)
No, I don't hate women....
....and I don't necessarily hate dems, either. Hate is too strong of a word, and not worth the effort.

But I sure do dislike a bunch of women, and most of the ones I dislike happen to be democrats, who want to be taken care of by the social democrat party.

So much for your women libbers and feminists. I never could quite understand how feminists could be dems, as they sure don't want to be taken care of by men. Then why would they let the government try to take complete control over their lives. Explain that one for me, please. I just shake my head at you all, I really do.

And by the way, do you have some crystal ball that you know exactly why McCain chose Palin to be his running mate? I sincerely doubt any women will come running over to his side to vote, but you can sure bet he shored up his conservative base, which I believe was his intention. And it's going to work, too.

Obama/Biden don't stand a chance. Just wait and watch.

We will....and so will a lot of women out there in America...
who identify with her. THere is a reason Obama said to leave her alone.
embarassment to women?
I'm a woman and not embarassed, that would be your opinion. There were plenty of more qualified democratic candidates also but look who we got, Barack Obama.
Sure, most all women who believe in murdering
@
Seriously. Why do you suppose women
The onus of birth control is not gender specific. My own son learned this lesson when he was 9 years old when his only cousin was diagnosed with HIV. He takes precautions and asks the right questions. He does not have sex with women who are not willing to show him the pill or discuss openly with him how they would respond to an unwanted pregnancy...and he makes his own views plainly known in no uncertain terms...that he does not feel he is ready for the responsibilities of fatherhood and that he ALSO has the right to make this decision without moral persecution.

Most women share the news of a pregnancy with the father in the hopes that he will take on the responsibilities of fatherhood. The ones who do not more than likely already know what the answer will be. Unwanted pregnancies have a way isolating the mother, blaming her for having gotten pregnant in the first place in much the same way you have inferred in your parting shot (as though the father has suddenly become canceled out of the equation) and giving all sorts of folks license to condemn and weigh in on the decision. In the event that support is forthcoming, most women WILL have the child more often than not.
What about the thousands of men and women
who lost their lives in that "mistake" that Bush made.  Maybe that should be in that post too.  I bet their families feel like they had plenty of courage.
So, it's okay with you for women to not receive....
equal wages for equal work.  Maybe you would be okay with us just going back to the stick at home and support your man theory.  Maybe we shouldn't think for ourselves.  Why don't you come to the rescue for Obama, or anyone else for that matter?  She is a politician by choice, and we all know the scrutiny and criticism that comes with that.  I don't plan on treating her with kid gloves just because she has a vagina.  You, on the other hand seem to have a double standard, and that double standard does not help with the cause for equality for women.
So are you saying that all women should be pro-choice or
they are an insult to women as a whole?
When you say Wounded Knee is nothing to be proud of....
You primarily mean the original Wounded Knee, right?
