I bet you oppose deer hunting too...huh.

I highly doubt that this would be allowed if there were few wolves.  It is like deer.  When people opposed hunting and the deer population grew so big that the deer couldn't find enough food and they starved.  I think I'd much rather an animal be shot and killed and used for leather, fur, or meat than starve in a low painful death.   These animals rights people amaze me sometimes.  Just like stating we can't use windmills for energy because something about the pressure would explode bats' lungs.  Okay...so lets just keep using oil from other countries and paying out the @ss for gas instead of allowing windmills because of those poor bats.  Give me a break!

I'm not for killing just to kill, but if an animal is used for meat and fur....I have no problem with that.

Just like the killer market.  When a poor quality horse was auctioned off, it could be bought by the killer market and used for meat and other things.  The animal rights people did away with this and now the horse market is full of junk horses.  The value of horses has plumeted.

I'm not one for cruelty but there is a difference between killing an animal and putting its meat, etc. to use than just torturing and slowly killing an animal and then letting the carcass go to waste.

Deer meat
My husband fillets it with not a trace of fat, and it's so lean! He did something different this year. He cut it into speedies and marinated it for a few days, then cooked it on kabobs on the grill in the garage (freezing outside). That was soooo good! My 13-year-old got that one with his muzzle loader.
mmmm deer meat
I'm still waiting on ours! Hopefully hubby will get one this weekend, can't afford to keep buying meat at the price it is at! Plus deer meat is so much healthier for you!

My mother also tans hides, so ALL the deer gets used :-D

I'm curious about how many other dems oppose
I think that if all they are required to do by 03/31/09 is to come up with a plan, then that is probably a reasonable expectation. The devil is in the details here. According to WaPo, "the companies would be required by March 31 to cut costs, restructure debt and obtain concessions from labor sufficient to report a "positive net present value," said Joel Kaplan, White House deputy chief of staff for policy. I am confused as to exactly what "sufficient to REPORT positive net present value" means. If by that they mean they should be in the black by March 31, that part most definitely does not seem feasible, but if the path to solvency is the short-term goal, then one would hope that management, the union and creditors would be able to comply with the cloud of pending bankruptcy looming.

However, my gut tells me that even that may be more than what the parties will be willing to do. It seems that if they cannot even come up with a plan by them, the repayment requirement is sort of a red herring, unless there is a way to make it a stipulation of the ensuing Chapter 11 proceedings, which I believe is what the act specifies. While I can understand the snag they have run into over the inclusion of the word "federal" versus the more far-reaching federal and state requirements for fuel efficiency (were the word eliminated), I am hopeful that they can get beyond that squabble by including the word, but phasing in the more stringent state requirements over a longer period of time.

Having said all that, I am one of those democrats who does not march lock-step on this issue, any more than I supported the original TARP bail-outs. While I do not want to see the automakers disappear, I do believe that they should go the way of Chapter 11 now and (I can't believe I am saying this) I would much rather see the republicans succeed in their filibuster!

Hunting
We would have an overpopulation of deer. Plus, it's not like they allow you to legally hunt all year long. Everything is well balanced. God did give us animals for food!
North Korea: Engage, Appease, Oppose

A little bit of history on North Korea and the dilemma. Read the rest of the article from the link below.

"So it's another step backwards again with North Korea.

In defiance of a Security Council resolution (1718) passed after its first nuclear test in 2006, it has now announced a second. It has also implied that it has solved some at least of the problems it encountered in the first.

The actual technical achievement remains to be examined. But the test itself represents a continued belligerency whose destination is unknown. "

It is not so much the actual hunting that I
am truly opposed of, it is the tactics used. If you are going to hunt them, then truly hunt them. Don't sit in a plane in the dead of winter and shoot at a defenseless animal like that. Get out of your friggin' plane, get on the ground and hunt. I come from a very long line of hunters and none of them would ever consider that truly hunting.

I am vegan, so I yes I am against the slaughter of animals. But, I do realize that sometimes it is necessary in certain circumstances to thin out a herd so they don't suffer in extremely harsh conditions.

I also realize that people hunt so they have food, that there are still people who get their primary meat this way and cannot afford to buy it in a store. I have had many different kinds of animal flesh before I quit eating it, and I do not pass judgment to those who hunt for food. I do oppose using the term "hunt" for the mass slaughter of animals. If you are truly against cruelty, like you say you are, then you would realize that aerial hunting of these wolves is cruel. Did you watch that video and see how the wolf is suffering? That is cruelty defined.
Enjoying hunting as a sport

is not a crime the last time a checked.  Sometimes I think animals have more rights than use human beings.  Sheesh.

A Republican response to all that oppose Bush and admin....Dems are a bunch of Nuts...

but read Lurker and Imagine! Just IMAGINE!

Palin supports aerial hunting of wildlife
Even if I preferred McCain (which I don't) I would use my vote to keep this thug out of office.
It's hunting season here. We have no problems getting ammo. Sounds like a silly rumor to me. NT

Author of this link is an acid-mouthed witch hunting hate monger
has made a career out of spreading division and hate. She makes Michele Malkin look like a Marxist comrade. She is Anti Obama, Anti-Hillary, Anti-Democrat, anti-liberal, Anti-McCain (he's too "liberal", Pro-Palin and (gt this) Pro-Bush. She positively worhips the guy.

I reviewed the titles of her newspaper articles and WITHOUT EXCEPTION she publishes these types of articles. Some of her more notable titles:
1. Obama's Contempt for our Constitution.
2. In Palin-Gibson Throwdown--Gov Get A, Media F (I am SO SURE).
3. Where is Obama's TESTICULAR Fortitute? (little trash mouth).
4. Ding Dong, the With Is Dead...referring to Hillary's defeat in the primaries.
5. Barack Obama's Snake Oil.
6. Is Hillary Mentall Ill?
7. Hillary's Slapped-Around-By-Men Problem Bodes Ill for the Presidency.
8. The STELLAR Legacy of George W. bush.
9. The Rest of the World Loves President Bush (this woman needs some serious antipsychotic drugs).
10. Liberals Don't Support Our Troops. If she were in the same room with me, the only way I could control my urge to deck her would be to remove myself from her presence over this outrage.
11. Pathology of Liberalism.
12. Hillary: Typical Actions of an Abused Woman.
13. The 7 Deadly Sins of Liberals.

You see, this is why citing sources matters. Credibility....NOT. She is a fanatic hawking a hateful agenda. No surprise there that she would be onboard with this BC lunacy.
