In Reply to: I agree, but afraid the country - is too divided now.

And could break into song if it would make everyone less afraid.

Folksy sayings

To start with:

1.  I'm fixin' to carry (Ms. Smith) over yonder.

2.  The sun doesn't shine on the same dog's behind all the time.

Gotta get busy but I'm sure I can think of more later.

Two sayings come to mind lately:

1.  Promises were made to be broken...

and my father's favorite:

2. Don't do as I do, do as I say.

endless war - msnbc
Good article under world news MSNBC online site.  Frightening.  Michael Scheuer, ex CIA analyst states "rather than move forward towards solutions, the US took a big step backward by invading Iraq".  He states the US has a willingful blindness to what needs to be done:  Withdraw our troops from the Middle East, end unqualified support for Israel, sever close ties to Arab oil state tyrannies.  Bruce Hoffman, veteran RAND Corp specialist fears an endless war and dismisses talk of Al Qaida's back having been broken by the capture of some leaders.  He and a half dozen other terrorist experts say the worlds richer powers must address the underlying causes - lessen the appeal of radicalism by improving economies, political rights and education.  Bush, et al, you have entered into a predicament that has no good outcome.  If this isnt a reason to impeach him, I dont know what is.  He ought to be tarred and feathered in town square.
More than endless, Viet Nam X 100
I am an army brat.  What gets me is all the rebulicans, which I chose to call "pukes", support this idiot president.  They are young, stupid, and swaded easily.  Army recruitment has reached an all time low.  I guarantee you, when their rich sons, grandsons, nephews, what ever have to go, they will get a hint about how stupid Dubya is.  The draft will have to be reinstated soon, are you stupid pukes still gonna support this so called president when your son, grandson, daughter, has to go, your money will not protect them then.  Yes you can keep them in college and avoid it for awhile, but one of your loved ones will die over there.  Thank you Dubya, for getting us into an more worse situation than Viet Nam.  Hey American Girl - how many purple hearts does your dad have - my dad has 5.
Are you just as indignant of McCain's endless
invasion of his privacy? Just curious.

Supply and Demand
What gives you the right to impose your beliefs on others? Ever hear of supply and demand? Do you really believe that it is only those of other religions that are participating in the sex, drugs, and violence to which you refer. Since Christians are the majority, according to one poster, there must be plenty of Christians who are living the lifestyles you want to suppress. There are all kinds of Christians. Which Christians do you want to be in charge of all of our lives...the fundamentalists, the KKK, the Aryan Nations?
ANWR would only supply us for six months...

at our current rate of usage - it's basically a drop in the bucket.  And to get all the equipment in place to extract it and refine it would take approximately four years or more.

And that "desolate wasteland" is one of the last pristine areas left in the world.  Does man really have to desecrate every square foot of this earth to satisfy his own greed and consumption?  Guess so.

Oklahoma alone has a huge oil supply. sm
When I worked at the University, I was told there was so much oil in capped off tanks, it would astound the populance to know how much.  The oil is here.
With all the supply and demand stuff...
...I'm guessing the price of tea may have increased since yesterday.

I noticed yesterday that several food items went down in price.  (Maybe others went up in price and I didn't know it because they wouldn't be items I would normally purchase.)

Things like butter being $2.00 (last week was $2.68), bread $1.12 a loaf (last week was $1.36 a loaf), American cheese $2.38 a pound (last week was $3.36) -- stuff like that.

The polls that supply that electoral map are just that....polls...sm
Polls mean less than nothing to me. Polls intimidate and mislead the voters, in my opinion. Thanks for asking.
