I have to weigh in here as someone who aborted a fetus sm

in what you would all consider late term; I had an anencephalic fetus and aborted at 30 some weeks. Am I a murderer according to your logic? I did what was right for my family and myself. And I thank GOD that I had a courageous provider who would do this for me.

Thought I'd weigh in
I am pro-choice. The thought of abortion makes me physically ill and I do not think highly (to say the least! Have to keep it clean!) of women that use it as a form of birth control. However, I think that in some circumstances that right needs to be there - especially in rape cases and when it endangers the mother's health. Who would get to decide on a case by case basis which woman should be able to have an abortion and which one shouldn't? That is why I believe the laws need to stay the way they are. It would be way to difficult to split hairs if abortion were made completely illegal except for specific circumstances.

I'm torn on the death penalty. I hear cases like the one with the little girl in Florida where the guy raped and buried her alive (sorry can't think of the scumbag's name) and feel like I could easily beat that guy myself. On the other hand, I can't even kill a spider without feeling guilty, so I'm not sure I could really do it. Overall though, I think the main reason I'm not totally for the death penalty is mainly for one reason - I feel like life in prison is much better torture.

As for assisted suicide or something similar - that's a tough one too. I had a health scare recently where ALS (or something similar) was in the differential. The fear of slowly wasting away was unbelievable. How could one not think about assisted suicide in a situation like that. However, in general, I think that it's a bad idea. I think there are many illnesses that people can have, like cancer, or maybe even these poor soldiers that come home missing limbs, where the condition may be survivable, but the depression may cause someone to take drastic measures.

Just my 2 cents, though. Have a good night everyone!
Why no funerals for aborted fetuses?
answer that one Foxy
wow -- that's as sad as 1/2 aborted babies being left
nm
They are much more than 2 merged cells when they are aborted....
you obviously have a brain...use it.
You don't think you might hear the cries of aborted babies....
where were you? Why didn't you help me?
Is the new legislature talking about stem cells of aborted fetuses?...sm
Because I am a pro-life liberal. I don't rattle any cages about what other people chose to do with their bodies because I believe 90% of the time a person who choses to abort will not be a good parent anyway and will probably do worse to the child once outside the womb. Yes, I do believe a horid life can be worse than death before full development. The child will more than likely be in abject poverty, social and mental deprivation, and on and on. But more importantly, I think people should be more responsible to not get pregnant in the first place when they don't want kids.

Having said all that we do live in an age where abortion is legal, and like I said if they are going to dispose of the fetus anyway, why not use the stem cells to give hope to a Christopher Reeves of the world.

Now, when you talk about cloning and reproducing parts and such I'm not agreeing with that. That's taking it too far IMHO.
The fetus belongs to God, before and after...

Do you hear yourself? Fetus? Embryo....?
This was a living breathing infant no longer connected to the mother even by the umbilical cord. You "understand" why he took the position? The most horrific and inhumane "position" that allows a poor child to suffered alone in a dirty linen closet for 45 minutes until it dies?? I'm sorry...that is abhorrent on SO many levels. How can anyone "understand" something like that, or support someone who actually is willing to let infants die due to lack of care because someone might say it gives the infant rights?? The most innocent among us? And he says he cares about people? Please.
Wrong...when the fetus could live on his/her own outside (sm)
the mother's body and is aborted and either killed or left to lay there and die, it is most definitely murder.
Injury to fetus...........and abortion

While a fetus remains a part of MY body, is sure
And it will never be yours, or anyone else's.

Do you religious freaks only care about the fetus and not of
the woman that got raped, the real VICTIM?

How about ASKING HER what she wants to do with this fetus of a rapist and let her decide. Last not least it is HER body and her FETUS (at least half of it, the second half is that of a rapist), who belongs in prison!
I'm sorry, but are you comparing an embryo, fetus to a turkey?!?!? And you think it is funny?!?!

I wonder if I'm the only one who finds your idea of a joke offensive.  Just when I was ready to be offended by "blob of tissue" you chime in with your turkey joke.  I'm stunned sometimes at the callousness of some people.  I don't know why I would be stunned considering the world we live in, but I still am from time to time.  Thank my Heavenly Father!  I wouldn't want to be so cold.

Those "blobs of tissue" have heartbeats.  Those "blobs of tissue" have such beauty and such potential.  Those "blobs of tissue" are alive.

Carrying a hydrocephalic fetus doesn't put the mother at high risk. Please.. nm
