I listened to the same speech today
It is really disturbing. He's been listening to Farrakan too much. To think your the messiah is one thing, to say it out loud is another.
I listened to the speech. It probably sounded a lot like the one Obama..
gave at the dailykos convention. She stated twice very significantly about the Alaska constitution. That is the antithesis of secession. As governor she was recognizing a recognized party in her state. I don't think there is as much antipathy between parties in Alaska as there are in the lower 48. I see no problem in recognizing them. I am not willing to assume that Obama ascribes to the ascerbic smut from dailykos just because he spoke to them. I guess that makes me somewhat more broad-minded than you?

You mean something by "sambo?"
He gave a speech on the economy yestereday....
all the news sources you watch probably don't cover him. What difference does it make, actually? Your mind is made up...it doesn't matter what comes out about Obama or what he says or what he doesn't say. He gives a nonanswer and it is like gospel handed down from the mountain. Anyone on the other ticket gives a nonanswer and they are inexperienced buffoons.

All I can say is, if he is elected, I hope you are not experiencing severe buyer's remorse this time next year.

At least when he screws everything up I won't have to lament having given him the golden opportunity to do so. :)
McCain gave an eloquent speech
I felt sad watching his speech. You could tell it is a big dissappointment for him and all conservatives.

His speech was eloquent and sincere.
When Obama gave his speech tonight, I...

noticed the audience was made up of different ethnic groups.  What I also noticed was how they embraced one another - whites were hugging blacks, blacks were hugging whites, etc, etc.  Obama said he wanted to bring about change and he already has begun to accomplish that.  When he says, "Yes We Can," he is talking about overcoming adversity.

A lot of you may not have voted for Obama, but don't be bitter and angry because he won.  When you become bitter and angry, you only hurt yourself in the long run.

He gave a wonderful and gracious concession speech, as well. nm
n
Zell gave that speech exactly 4 years ago to the date... nm
x
Gore gave a superb speech today, very inspiring...
...though anyone addicted to Fox wouldn't know it. He really nailed the problem right on the old square head - best speech that's been given in years now. Naturally, the networks are too frightened to utter more than a peep about it, but maybe C-span is re-running it, if you get the chance check it out.

I'd almost forgotten how refreshing it is to see a politician really speak to an unrehearsed crowd without reading from a teleprompter or uttering gotta protect 'mericans and they hate us for our freedom and 9/11 every other line. Nice to know someone sees what's going on and is actually concerned about protecting rule by Constitutional provisions for a change.
I agree, doubt she would stoop to that. Maybe she needed a break. Or gave up hope. nm

I hope you saw his speech last night.

He was absolutely livid about the package not being passed yet. Guess he doesn't understand that some senators don't want a bloated budget any more than it already is. He actually scared me with his egotistical attitude.

What really gets me is he is blaming Bush/pubs for the bailout, but HE VOTED YES for it too. But many people seem to forget that.

And they thought last night's speech was
Funny thing about the truth. It has a way of no staing buried for too long....in this case, less than 24 hours. Thank you so much for posting this.
Hey BT - I thought his speech was excellent
And made perfect sense. I don't listen to Rush, lost interest in him a few years ago, but that was because I was leaning to the left and actually thought Olbermann and Mathews made sense. HA HA. I could not catch his whole speech. Only saw bits and pieces on Greta's show so wanted to read the whole thing for myself (he's also on youtube and you can catch it there).

He was very articulate and not hateful or spiteful. He really put into words what I feel. He told it like it is. By all means I do not believe that Rush is the front leader of the conservative party, but he is an excellent spokesperson and he is able to articulate what exactly it means to be a conservative and what conservatives want for this country and all of America. You are absolutely correct. He really hit the nail on the head with the speech and had standing ovations.

I also think that he was really right on, especially since the liberal media is up in arms about it and now trying to pick at him (to include Rham making the rounds to the talks shows trying to put him down). It's hard to argue with the truth. I think it's getting a lot of coverage because it was very well written and delivered.

Also, have you caught a show on Fox called Red Eye. It is absolutely hilarious. Politically based. The host is a riot. It's on at midnight but I've seen it on at other times during the day. My DH loves it and says this is a great time to be a conservative, we'll have lots of fun over the next four years at the rate this keeps going.
You mean like all the people in congress who just gave themselves pay raises
Pelosi, Reid and other people in congress that just voted themselves in a pay raise without so much as a thought to what is happeneing in the economy. "Hey Sam Smith just lost his job and he's got 2 kids, a sick wife to support, and his house is getting ready for foreclosure. Many Americans are finding themselves out of jobs and homes, hey I know, lets give ourselves another raise, $180K a year is not enough"
Good for Joe! I hope so. And I hope he sues...
the governor of the state of Ohio from now to next week. He should. They BIG time violated his civil rights. If this situation was reversed and he was a Dem who had asked McCain a question and a state had had him investigated, the ACLU would be all over this like ugly on an ape. Liberals only care about other liberals...they could care LESS what happens to conservatives. But yeah, they are all about civil liberties. Geez. Pull the other leg awhile.
Thought this was good so I thought I'd share

Down the drain?  Beware of Obama's plan to 'spread the wealth around'

By Betsy Newmark
High School History and Government Teacher/Blogger

If the McCain campaign can’t use this Obama quote to raise doubts about his attitude towards wealth and success, then they deserve the shellacking they seem headed for.

“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”

“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Plumbers of the country, unite! Forget about the work and effort you put into building up a business or the scummy work that you do that many of us don’t know or don’t want to do. If you have succeeded, you should be willing to give up more of what you earn to help those who haven’t had the great good luck that you have had to be a successful plumber. Remember how Obama is going to give 95% of all of us a tax cut even though over 30% of the population doesn’t pay taxes?

He might call it a tax credit, but what he’s really doing is his vision of “spreading the wealth around.” It sounds a lot like Huey Long’s 1935 plan to “Share the Wealth.” And when he finds that he can’t tax the top 5% of the population to gain enough wealth to spread to the 95% of the rest of us, do you really think that he’ll stop with that 5%?

Remember…This is the guy who said in the ABC debate during the primary season that his approach to raising tax on capital gains is not based on whether it would provide more revenue but on his idea of what is fair:

GIBSON: All right. You have, however, said you would favor an increase in the capital gains tax. As a matter of fact, you said on CNBC, and I quote, “I certainly would not go above what existed under Bill Clinton,” which was 28 percent. It’s now 15 percent. That’s almost a doubling, if you went to 28 percent.

But actually, Bill Clinton, in 1997, signed legislation that dropped the capital gains tax to 20 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And George Bush has taken it down to 15 percent.

OBAMA: Right.

GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.

So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?

OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

Just what we need in these fragile economic times — a guy who wants to raise taxes because he thinks it’s a matter of “fairness” and time to “spread the wealth around.”

That will be some incentive for other plumbers who want to work hard and build up a successful business.

But don’t worry - according to Joe Biden, it’s the patriotic thing to do.

OMG, I hope my post didn't look like I thought Obama did it
I know he didn't. He's a very decent person and respectful and when something is wrong he'll say so (and will have words with his people if they cross the line). I wasn't sure who did it. The news said they were going to tell us who is responsible but they never did (go figure). I just think its a horrible thing to happen to anyone and DH and I were talking tonight about when did all the nasty things like this start happening. I'm sure 100 or so years ago it wasn't bad like this. I just think it's a horrible world when someone is running for an office and people think its okay to do this. How low will they go?
McCain's speech was very good (sm)
He hit on many key issues and stated his case on crossing party lines to change policies.  I truly believe that he will lead this country into better times.  He hates war but will not run away if America needs defending, nor will he negotiate with terrorists.  More jobs, less taxes, less foreign oil dependency, school choice.  Bringing the government back to the people!  Isn't that who it belongs to?
Good for you - freedom speech
That's what I say! I'm not wild about Rush, and I can only take so much of Sean, but I do like a lot of conservatives who tell it like it is. Absolutely love Michael Savage (even though he is independent). I will also listen to Alan Colmes, Keith Olberman, and Rachel Maddow. I listen to them all and make my own decisions based on what I hear. I don't go with the party line telling me what I'm supposed to think and how I'm supposed to vote.
I hope once and for all that people can now see........sm
exactly what this man represents, especially those who voted for him. He's not the man we need in our highest office; in fact, he's probably one of the last men we need there.
I sure hope the uniforms look good and are
Perhaps something wrinkle-free and Scotchguarded so they always look sharp. I think it will be good for the MTV generation.
I hope she has a good excuse...
nm
Good for him. I hope they all show up to vote...
to offset the 3-5 million they say are coming over from Hillary supporters. Apparently all Democrats are not of the party unity above all else bent. Go PUMA. Doesn't matter who shows up at any arena...matters who shows up at the polls. Heck, if I was in Denver, I would be going...I enjoy a good spectacle. And I would venture a guess that that is what most of those 87,000 are...a chance to be present when history is made. Which is a wonderful thing. Let Obama have his moment, rock star stage or not. He is making history. I will certainly give him that.
Thought this was a good one....

In a local restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The
server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I
realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

It was so excellent I hope people keep posting
We need people like him in the US. Here they are all just a bunch of self-gratifying, money hungry mob-backed politicians who care nothing about the country or the people. Meanwhile they have everyone fooled into believing they care so much about us. That's why they are dragging the country down.
The DNC thought people would be so...
enraptured with him none of this would matter...and this board is indicative that a LOT of people bought into it. It does not matter what comes out about him...it is going to be rationalized or part of a vast right wing conspiracy or a "pub" smear job. AMAZING.
Good. Hope Israel can destroy HAMAS.
nm
And past the theatrics, I thought he did a good job...
and I don't want to get a firestorm started, but it was right down the Democratic line, same things I heard from Hillary, from Bill for his 8 years, Carter (and we know how that turned out)....it was not his usual "change" speech. I guess in deference to the party. I don't know.

But, I admit it, I disagree with too many Democrat policies to vote for any Democrat when they are hard-liners. There is no give there, no willingness to work with the other side...and frankly, we will NEVER go forward no matter WHO is President until politicians are willing to put the COUNTRY first, not the PARTY. And I mean that for both sides. In spades!
Good for you! Most people would not recognize good...sm
character if it hit them over the head, just sheep who follow along without thinking for themselves, believing the political pundit spitting out garbage.
I thought the same thing about people who voted for...
Bill Clinton twice. Takes all kinds I guess.
At first I thought these people pushing the b/c issue
were just plain ole MTs with inquiring minds, however, wrong they might be.  The poster above who said "put your money where your mouth is"  finally got a light bulb to come on in my brain.  These people have an agenda, whatevier it may be, but it is NOT the Constitution or they would have trampled Bush a long time ago.  I doubt they are MTs.  I believe they have an agenda that is way darker than the birth certificate issue and I am going to keep posting to their posts so that hopefully unsuspecting, well-meaning  MTs might THINK and see them for what they are.
People thought Bush was so bad, under Obama,
nm
I thought Brunson made a good point down below.
One of the reasons the antiwar protesters have not been taken more seriously is that they have personalized this against Bush and not against war.  I do think it is possible to separate the two.  But I also think that protesting in the streets puts our military at risk, in fact I know that it does.  The pen is a mighty weapon.  Senators and congressmen and women want to be reelected.  Sitting in front of the WH with a bullhorn and shouting obscenities and name calling to the President of the United States is not going to ever work.  And it shows a distinct lack of respect, if not for the man, then for the office and the White House itself.
I thought you guys DESPISED rich people and would rather they be
x
My mistake...I thought you only tolerated like-minded people....
hence Berkeley.
I thought hateful people were banned from this forum

Do I need some kind of motive to post what I thought was a good read..and your point is..
xx
Have you listened to their speeches? sm
Because Jr. and Sr. both frequently quote the New World Order.

The NWO is not a conspiracy theory. This stuff was discussed in my family for decades because my grandfather was a high ranking Mason and city councilman. All of them are Masons, and their symbols are everywhere.

Obama is not against offshoring. Have you listened to hm at all?
The global economy....citizen of the world...Didn't he say that the way to combat offshoring was better education so that our children could compete for those jobs? Basically saying that Americans were not qualified for a lot of jobs that were being offshored? Gee, I was SURE I heard him say that!!

Voting against Obama is voting against far left socialism. Voting against Obama is voting against changing my life in a way I don't want it changed. So yeah, I am most definitely, confidently, WHOLE HEARTEDLY voting against Obama.

If he REALLY wanted to stop offshoring he would STOP raising taxes on corporations so that we don't have the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. But if he did that, he could not pay for all his gimmes, now could he?

Yeah, that makes sense. No more tax BREAKS for those who already offshore, and tax them more. Yeah, that would make ME want to bring my business back to America.

That makes NO sense.

I've actually listened to what the Iranian president says.?
You said for liberals only, so excuse my intrustion into your world, but have you honestly not listened to some of the speeches he makes in his own country which usually begin something like *Death to America* etc. etc.? He's sounding all diplomatic right now, because he knows that his soldiers got caught in Hezobollah's forces, and he knows he has everything to lose. I'm going to watch it not because I think he's the best thing since sliced bread like some of you do, but because it's going to be real interesting when on Monday morning the free press rolls out all the hate/kill America speeches he's made, but you all will just believe they are fabricated too.
I've listened, watched and read
about as much as anyone and I believe the 95% applies to people who PAY taxes.  Common sense.......how can you give someone a reduction in taxes who doesn't pay taxes.  Nonsense.
nope. Never listened to Rush. No radio.

Hubby listens to him all the time.

BTW, used to watch Glen Beck all the time. Can't wait until he's on Fox January 19th. He was on O'Reilly last night and I did watch, but he was pretty toned down, probably cause it was Bill's show.

I listened to Bush speak last night. No light at the end of this tunnel. nm
nm
"kill him" speech is not acceptable free speech - it is against the law - nm

To gt and the other good people on this board

They're back, and they're back with a vengeance.  Their pitiful little lives must be going very badly for them, poor babies.  Maybe winter has arrived, and they realize they can't afford to heat their homes, and they're upset and angry.  Or maybe they're just basically hateful, vengeful people who have to evict all the old built-up hatred in their tiny hearts to make room for new anger and hatred to reside.

Either way, they just can't seem to leave us alone.  I suggest we ignore every single post -- don't even read it and don't respond to it.

There are some people for whom reason is beyond reach, and all we do is feed their hatred.

I say we ignore them until their current hate *wave* passes.

And lots of people are good at
POUNCING. ;-)
People pay good money to have their links

show up under a certain word search.  Do you actually think that this happened by pure chance, or because the google search engine defaults the word failure to immediately pull this POS site by happenstance?  It was paid for.  What's even more hilarious is how much this poor schlump parted with for that privilege.  You all seriously need to find some adult topics to talk about instead of thinking that google has a liberal's brain.

Being kind to other people feels good, too.
Bigotry in the name of religion - Que lastima!
Looks like the good people of Connecticut made the right choice. sm
In a conference call with reporters Wednesday night, Cheney implied that US Senator Joe Lieberman's (D-CT) loss to anti-war challenger Ned Lamont was a victory for al Qaeda types.

If Lieberman is neocon friendly, you want to definitely aim the Raid can in his direction.

Want to take a wild guess on who Cheney meant by al Qaeda types? Christianne Amanpour from CNN is comparing 911 truthers and liberals to al Qaeda and the alleged terrorist threat yesterday.
People are ignoring Sally, and for good reason.
nm
Yeah, it was, sorry.....I just don't think poking fun at sick people is a good thing to do....
and that was the thread. I think we are ALL better than that, much better things to talk about than that. So, I apologize...I will keep my indignation on the part of those who are the butt of jokes because of physical deformities to myself. I am better than stinging rebuttals myself..I will take my own advice.

Have a good day, vv, my friend.
You think people smashing store windows and setting fires is good?
if you codone that then you have serious issues.
