and since McCain has chosen Palin, I am starting to swing the other way. Like you with Obama, I do not trust her and do not share a lot of her values. And before someone calls me a baby murderer, I do not believe in abortion. It is many of her other issues, and I really don't want to get into an abortion debate.

John McCain is not my present choice among the Repubs, but I could swallow that much easier than Guiliani.

I feel like I'm still voting for evil, so I'd much rather put the vote somewhere else entirely or not vote at all. That was kinda my point, if more people voted honestly rather than defensively or for the lesser of 2 evils, maybe collecctively we could make a difference. Like I stated, it's not likely, I know.
I will not vote for the lesser of two evils...
...partly because I honestly do not know which of the government-approved candidates is the lesser.
I figure [Obama} is to {McCain] as [shoot me in the head, I die right away] is to [stab me in the gut, I am in great pain for awhile, then I die].
I am voting 3rd party again this year. I can only hope that enough people will do the same, and whoever wins does so knowing he has no "mandate."

That is why Gibson was chosen. He has a reputation for being less biased than others. Still, he staged the interview to be intimidating, he had the glasses on the end of his nose condescending thing going, and the Bush Doctrine question was a huge trap. When she asked him for clarification he refused to do it and left her dangling. That was orchestrated. I have heard Democratic commentators say that was unfair; that if you ask sitting senators about the Bush doctrine you will get all kinds of answers.
There is a reason Obama has refused until last week to sit down with an interviewer who was not going to to pander to him, and he has been doing this for 18 months. He still refuses to to participate in town hall meetings where it is not scripted. There is a reason for that also.
I'm voting McCain partly because he is the lesser
of two evils. I am not voting for Obama because I am completely pro-choice and completely against gay marriages. I know people who have had abortions and I know who people who are gay. I hold nothing against them, but I can't with a good consicence vote for someone who believes these 2 major things are okay. I am by no means judging anybody for their choice of lifestyle. I personally just think it's wrong. Also, being of the pentecostal faith, I am happy that Sarah Palin (also of the pentecostal faith) was chosen as his running mate. I'm simply voting with my conscience. 
I'm just voting for him because he is the lesser of the two evils who are running for presidency

In looking further into al-Marri's case, I see that he did have charges of credit card fraud and making false statements to the FBI (you just don't mess with those guys!) so apparently he was not held illegally. I don't see this setting a precedent for unjust arrests of American citizens just going about their business.
As to your second paragraph....ROFL!! Count your lucky stars!

Not picking a fight, truly curious
As a nonbeliever what do you think it is that makes you feel good inside when you do something good? I don't know much about atheists, always thought there wasn't much to know, except they don't believe in God and so I would assume when they die they believe that everything stops right there. I feel that there has to be a better life in the world to come so I am asking a sincere question which is thought provoking at least to me. If a loved one dies, how do you deal with it? What happens to them. When you die what happens to you?

She is picking at Old Testament stuff
which if she read the Bible all the way through she would know that the coming of Christ fulfilled all the Old Testament requirements and therefore we are not required to have a "fattened calf" for sacrifice, etc.

It is not the same at all, not picking on a specific group,race, or ethnicity....sm
as a matter of fact, some of my worst dictators are AMERICAN, they hate dictating and so act like little kids and speed talk, trip all over their words, slur everything together, mispronounce without correcting themselves, chew, burp, rattle papers and x-rays, etc., and then will correct several paragraps because they "forgot" this or that. At least foreign docs have an excuse, and many try to enuniciate clearly, spell things, out, etc. There is no comparison here...complaining about high percentage of difficult docs in your queue is not the same as drawing a "cartoon" that points directly in one direction, is poorly disguised, and is dispersed and disseminated in a national, hugely circulated newpaper.
I think actually picking up a book might require too much effort......easier to blather......nm

Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is still voting for evil. sm
The 2 main choices are horrible. They only offer a continuation of the status quo. Nothing on bringing the troops home (now not 5 years from now), no sound monetary policy, reinstating our civil liberties, etc. Third party candidates have better platforms. People should be voting principles over party, or you deserve whatever you get.
