Let's keep God out of this.

What I believe in is cooperation between nations, in terms of economic and security interests and in the realm of basic human rights. I believe if we can have a Department of War, we should also have a Department of Peace. I believe that no one ever wins wars, but every single person and nation benefits from peace.

I believe it is time that we renew our diplomatic initiatives to this end and that we do EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE to identify commonality to counterbalance ethnic, national and cultural division between peoples and nations on earth. I believe that the global economy is a reality and that global government is NOT a natural byproduct of that. I believe that civilized nations can and should live by example in an effort to establish credibility in terms of human rights and democratic rule. I also believe there is more than one viable economic system and that when one does not work anymore (especially when it becomes rife with corruption), it is only prudent to be open to others that may work better.

The US federal system of govt IS a supragovernment over a collection of member states, just as the EU. If it can work on that broad of a regional level, there is nothing to say that it could not work over an even wider geographic swath. It means coming to terms with developing and third world countries and Eastern super powers in ways that are beneficial to ALL parties involved, and not in ways that favor one over the other. It means the demise of the concept of super power. The time has come for that anachronism to take its rightful place in history.

These are IDEALs that we should always be striving toward. It is about the journey, not the destination.

The choice of the word "evolution" seems to have touched a nerve with you. What do you mean by "macro" and "micro" evolution? I mentioned the word in the context of PROGRESS being the natural order in a civilized world. My belief in God, how I use my faith and how I reconcile that faith with my concept of evolution is not an issue here and merits no further comment.

I think that giving in and giving up because our chances of evolving into anything better are "slim" is the coward's way out and that we as a people are better than that. Obama has not even taken office yet. He is simply in the process of selecting his cabinet and ministers...a political job duty as POTUS. It is wrong for you to judge him at this point in time and for that reason, I will reserve comment on your last paragraph..but I will give you my own guarantee that Obama IS the person who can and will restore global image and perceptions of the America as THEIR "beacon of light." He's already doing that without lifting a finger and before his official swearing in.
