My DH and I put out our

first garden last summer and it really saved us money and we are definitely doing it again this year.  At least we know where the vegetables come from and don't have to worry about Mexico.  We also get pork and beef from a local farmer we know so we know what the animals are fed, etc.  It is cheaper and gives us peace of mind.  In times like these, I'm glad I'm a hick and have these hillbilly resources.   

If things continue to be get worse, which I'm afraid it will, I'm going to have my mom teach me how to can stuff so we spend even less money on groceries.  I know that won't necessarily help our economy but a lot of people buy their groceries at Walmart and all that money goes to stimulate China.....so I guess I don't feel too bad about it.

However, if I can save money on groceries, I'm sure I will be more tempted to buy electronics and other stuff I don't need.  LOL!
