My dad was one of the "fat cats." And he earned

and deserved every penny he made.  Sometimes he took naps at work, sometimes he played cards at work, but that was the nature of his job.  They wanted the skilled labor guys there in case they were needed.  If they weren't needed, then oh well.  You act as though they were goofing off and not doing their job.  The reality is they were there to do their job when it was asked of them.

The guys and gals on the assembly line weren't doing their jobs half the time or were drunk or drinking when they came in and worked.  Building cars while drunk.  And if you want to know what the problem is with auto industry you don't have to look farther than Americans buying foreign made cars and the SUV.

LOL...about your cats :) sm
No, they shouldn't put the poor cat to sleep, but the owner needs to be more proactive so people won't complain. Can you tell I don't have any pets?

It's not that I don't like them; my husband doesn't want one until we move in a few years. I got dog bit when I was a child, so I am scary when it comes to mean natured pets. I want a chiwawa, but I hear they are territorial and aggressive too.
dogs and cats
Well, sometimes I feel animals are given more rights than humans. But that said, we are talking about dogs and cats that are alive and viable. An 8-week fetus is hardly viable on its own, and again, I don't believe it is alive and I question the pain issue anyway. When looking at that research, it is more than a bit biased.
Respect has to be earned...it is not a God-given right!
You cannot demand respect, you must earn it! I have the right to respect or not to respect whomever I want! If you are one of the people I do not respect...too bad! Apparently, I do not feel you are worthy of my respect, which is my right!
if he was a farmer and earned sm
money from it he must have paid taxes and paid into SS somehow. If not, she would not be eligible for SS benefits.
DH and I have worked hard and have earned everything

that we have and WE should decide who to give it to, not Nobama. We are living the American Dream and will be penalized for it. If your child got all A's in school and the teacher told you that some kids got C's and B's and your child would have to give up some of their A's so the others would be on equal ground, would you object? Probably so. There is no incentive in socialism to work hard to acheive things when you can have the gov't provide everything for you. Don't you people know that you are playing right into the hand's of more gov't? You are being fed a bunch of lies and you won't even realize it until it is too late.

I think he has earned a bit more respect and credibility
so sue me.
okay - what do you think earned income credit is?
My sister pays no taxes - she has no taxes taken out of her check every week - she works a full time job, but she still every year gets back $5000-6000. Now why do you think that is any different than what you are talking about now? It is the same thing...
Obama won't. Bush has earned
NM
AS IF BUSH EARNED RESPECT???
Oh now that was funny....thanks for the laugh, I needed that!!!!
But Bush is soooo bashable and he has earned
No matter how hard he ties to rewrite history and author his own legacy, he is destined to trump all previous contenders for the dubious distinction of the WORST president in history. You watch.
Respect is earned. John McCain can....
respect him if he wishes; I will respect him when he earns it.

I do, however, respect his accomplishments. He has truly lived the American dream. That is one of my problems with him. He knows that you can, through ambition and hard work, go anywhere you want in this country. No one helped him, no one redistributed wealth to help him. He should try to guide people to take the path he took, not take from others to pay people to stay where they are. THAT I would respect.

There was a lot about McCain that I did not like...however, I did trust him and respect his lifetime of service to this country.

Only time will tell (to quote OP) what an Obama presidency will do to....or for...the country.
sorry, he has not yet earned my respect and blind faith ..
I did not decide who to vote for until 3 days before the election.

This blind faith people are espousing for OBama scares me as much as SOME (not all) of OBama's ideas!

My biggest concern -- so many promises .. that always is a red flag to me.

We should by nature be hopeful but wary at the same time.

HE will have my undying blind faith and support once he earns it.

He has my respect for being in the office of president, and I will try to honor his wishes and comply with what he "changes" ...

Respectable? Hah! He hasn't even earned trust yet!

Give it a few months for the media orgy/love fest to end then the scandals will begin (quite a few already). The dems are already at each other throats....this is gonna be good!

Yes, earned income credit, we pay our taxes....
Whaddya you make? 7 cents a line? LOL. You call that paying taxes? HAHAHAHA!
No, it's more than jus the earned income credit and kids.
This is adding in things like tuition and related school expenses, but not claiming the grant money they've recieved to pay for that - which you legally have to do. That's what makes me so mad!
Sorry, earned income credit, I have to pay taxes.....
I have no dependents, alas. I don't get food stamps or Welfare, either. Unlike you, the prophet, I will wait and see what direction our President takes us. You might be disappointed or I might be disappointed, but, obviously, it will all roll out in the end, won't it? Yes, I know about gas. Unfortunately for you, it has no escape route because you are too full of $hit to allow its escape. Sorry about the blockage.........honest, it isn't brain matter - it is fecal.
Time to stop the earned income tax credit
No more WELFARE period. Everybody can plant a small garden - even in pots. Go fishing and deer hunting for your meat. Tents are cheap - can walk or hitchhike to warmer climates so you're more comfortable. Live off the land! And let govt get smaller - no more handouts to ANYONE! If we did that, we wouldn't need roads or bridges - end that spending habit. Get rid of government completely. Everybody arm yourselves and live like they did in the old west. We are already well on our way to being a 3rd world country (even airports are dingy). Everybody is on their OWN. Consumerism would end. Who needs TV or iPods or computers or anything else? We're all gonna die anyway. Some sooner than others, but there's no way outta that one. If you don't make any money - you won't have to pay taxes.
Sing it sister!! Earned income tax credit most defintely is welfare.
But I bet very few people who receive it think of it that way. They just happily cash that refund check.
