Here is some important non-pork spending news from your stimulus bill:

The deal provides $8 billion for high-speed rail projects, for example, including money that could benefit a controversial proposal for a magnetic-levitation rail line between Disneyland, in California, and Las Vegas, a project favored by Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.). The 311-mph train could make the trip from Sin City to Tomorrowland in less than two hours, according to backers.

Another Jindal Lie
Jindal also made up his story about visiting Sheriff Harry Lee. Bear with me:

Jindal said in his speech, "During Katrina, I visited Sheriff Harry Lee, a Democrat and a good friend of mine. When I walked into his makeshift office I'd never seen him so angry. He was yelling into the phone: 'Well, I'm the Sheriff and if you don't like it you can come and arrest me!' I asked him: 'Sheriff, what's got you so mad?' He told me that he had put out a call for volunteers to come with their boats to rescue people who were trapped on their rooftops by the floodwaters. The boats were all lined up ready to go - when some bureaucrat showed up and told them they couldn't go out on the water unless they had proof of insurance and registration. I told him, 'Sheriff, that's ridiculous.' And before I knew it, he was yelling into the phone: 'Congressman Jindal is here, and he says you can come and arrest him too!' Harry just told the boaters to ignore the bureaucrats and start rescuing people."

1. Sheriff Lee initially told CNN that he didn't find out about the insurance and registration issue until about SEVEN DAYS after the incident.

2. There is no evidence that Jindal was on the ground in Jefferson Parish when people were stranded on rooftops--up until September 3 at the latest. When Katrina struck on August 29, Jindal was out of the country. When he returned, he went straight to Baton Rouge where his family was evacuated. Jindal was interviewed by CNN on September 1 and talked about taking an aerial tour and didn't mention being on the ground at all. There are no news reports from that time period stating that Jindal was ever on the ground during the time that people were stranded on rooftops.

3. Jindal has spoken and written extensively about the red tape involved with the rescue efforts but never mentioned this story.

4. In 2008, Jindal talked to Human Events (conservative magazine) and implied that he talked to a sheriff after the fact about the boat registration issue but never said he was there personally.
What was Jindal talking about????

Watched the "State of the Union" and then Jindal's "rebuttal" - what the he!!???? Using KATRINA as a model?? OMG.......ending corruption? ....Scooter Libby, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay.......healthcare reform? Since when has the pubs EVER proposed healthcare reform? Alternative energy? Reduce big government and spending? WHAT DID THE LAST 8 YEARS TEACH US?? If Jindal represents the pub party - it is truly the day the music (dirge) died.

Bye, Bye republican pie, drove my Chevy to the levy and the levy cried - and good old boys were drinking Kool-Aid and rye, this is the day the pubs died.......

Why Jindal used Katrina as example
Jindal used Katrina as an example,a word picture, as an example of government not working. He was not talking about corruption in Washington D.C. but in Louisiana (which was pretty bad)So what if the pubs have not ever proposed healthcare reform - we are doing it now! Sorry, you are wrong! The spirit of the people in Louisiana because of Bobby Jindal is awsome! He is such a relief after years of corruption - trust me! I live in Louisiana!
Jindal goes to Disneyland

After Lying about High-Speed Rail Line From Disneyland, Jindal goes to Disneyland

After offering-up the latest GOP lie that $8 billion of the stimulus was line-itemed for "a ‘magnetic levitation’ line from Las Vegas to Disneyland" in last night's widely-panned speech, you'll never guess where Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) travels today:

After giving one of the biggest speeches in his time as a politician, Gov. Bobby Jindal is heading to Disney World.

Jindal's office says the governor and his family leave for the Orlando vacation resort today.

A perfect punctuation mark to the idiocy of last night's GOP response.

I suggest you look to Bobby Jindal...that's the way
in Louisiana. Republican government, that is.

Jindal's speech reminded me of....
those films we had to watch in 6th grade health class about periods.
*Gasp!* Jindal LIED???? LOLOLOLOL - thanks!!!

Jindal Admits Katrina Story Was False

Jindal Admits Katrina Story Was False

Looks like the game is up.

Remember that story Bobby Jindal told in his big speech Tuesday night -- about how during Katrina, he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with a local sheriff who was battling government red tape to try to rescue stranded victims?

Turns out it wasn't actually, you know, true.

In the last few days, first Daily Kos, and then TPMmuckraker, raised serious questions about the story, based in part on the fact that no news reports we could find place Jindal in the affected area at the specific time at issue.

Jindal had described being in the office of Sheriff Harry Lee "during Katrina," and hearing him yelling into the phone at a government bureaucrat who was refusing to let him send volunteer boats out to rescue stranded storm victims, because they didn't have the necessary permits. Jindal said he told Lee, "that's ridiculous," prompting Lee to tell the bureaucrat that the rescue effort would go ahead and he or she could arrest both Lee and Jindal.

But now, a Jindal spokeswoman has admitted to Politico that in reality, Jindal overheard Lee talking about the episode to someone else by phone "days later." The spokeswoman said she thought Lee, who died in 2007, was being interviewed about the incident at the time.

This is no minor difference. Jindal's presence in Lee's office during the crisis itself was a key element of the story's intended appeal, putting him at the center of the action during the maelstrom. Just as important, Jindal implied that his support for the sheriff helped ensure the rescue went ahead. But it turns out Jindal wasn't there at the key moment, and played no role in making the rescue happen.

There's a larger point here, though. The central anecdote of the GOP's prime-time response to President Obama's speech, intended to illustrate the threat of excessive government regulation, turns out to have been made up.

Maybe it's time to rethink the premise.
