Problem is......

You're right, some won't be able to work until then because of disabilities. Have you ever tried to get disability? You obviously don't know the obstacles they put in front of you to keep that from happening, not to mention becoming practically homeless before you may or may not get it.

They couldn't care less that you have worked you're entire life and can no longer work. Disability isn't handed out just because you want it. You have to basically not work for a year or two to even begin to prove you can't work and then good luck. I had a family member disabled in their late 50's on the job, couldn't use one arm at all, barely use the other, and they COULD NOT get disability. Went through the so-called system and got screwed, nearly lost every penny he had worked for and saved just to pay the bills and eat. Disability isn't that simple and SS will do everything they can not to pay you. You better have a GREAT lawyer and then, if you're lucky, you MIGHT get it in a couple, three, four, or five years. Just try it.

On the other hand, I've seen some get SS disability and they go out and mow the lawn, ski, manage to be very active and I can't see where they can't hold down a job.
