Marmann's just proved it.

"It's all Jed Clampett's fault"...sm
In an exclusive interview granted today to the mass media at a press conference, the 87-year-old Beverly Hills banker, Mr. Drysdale, reveals to the world the real reason behind the oil crisis and the state of our economy today.

"It was all Jed Clampett's fault," said Mr. Drysdale in the crackling voice of a man who has lived under the stress of keeping a secret for 40 years.  "Had he not sold his oil to foreign interests at an obsene amount of money, we would have had enough oil to run this country for the next 200 years."

When pressed for further details regarding the state of the overall economic picture of the country and the government's failing coffers, Drysdale replied, "Mr. Clampett, despite my urging, refused to pay income tax on the money he received for his oil sale to foreign countries.  Instead, he deposited a pittance in my bank and the rest in overseas bank accounts with untracable numbers."

"What Mr. Drysdale says is true," confirms Miss Jane Hathaway, his secretary for over 40 years as she pounds on dusty old ledgers that she said had been locked away in an undisclosed location for these past 40 years.  "The proof is all right here.  The CIA and FBI had these sealed until after the passing of Mr. Clampett and the subsequent 'disappearance' of Jethro and Ellie Mae along with all the money."

Critics are saying that Drysdale has come forward only out of bitterness that his Beverly Hills bank was not one of the ones bailed out, even though it was at the top of the list for aid from the federal government and that Miss Hathaway is just harboring ill feelings toward Jethro for never having married her.
Yeah, and guess who he'll blame the whole four years....yep...bush...nm

I did not intentionally call Obama "it." I'm not sure why I typed "it"
but I certainly meant "he."
9/11 Bush's fault
9/11 scenario being rewritten?  LOL, in your dreams.  We had many warnings about an attack but guess where Bush was??  On vacation.  Well, actually he is on vacation 24/7, if you ask me.  A FIVE WEEK VACATION, OMG!!  This administration failed us with the attack on 9/11.  A captain goes down with his ship.  Bush is the captain of this administration, hence, he takes the blame..Not Clinton, not the democrats, BUSH.  OMG, we were being attacked and where was Bush, reading a childrens book in Florida and then flying around, too afraid to land when we the people are vulnerable for attack.  But, my concern right now is not 9/11.  That has already happened.  My concern is the terrorist country Bush has created with his illegal immoral criminal invasion of Iraq.  Now we have to worry for decades to come due to his and Cheneys actions of invading Iraq.  What really makes me shake my head in disbelief, is that so unbelieveably insane Cheney is still trying to justify this war and link it up to 9/11.  This country is in a sorry state.  Im ashamed, concerned, frightened and disillusioned by America right now..and dont use the republican argument, liberals always blame America first..I blame whomever or whatever is the cause of the problem and right now America has caused this major global terrorist problem, our major deficit with billions going to Iraq monthly, our thousands dead, tens of thousands of Iraqis dead, disrespect throughout the world and a nonending war for the future, not to mention at home outsourcing of jobs, which Bush says is a good thing, gas prices going through the roof, millions going without health insurance..but hey, Bush is a good president, hun?....NOT.  This situation Bush has put us into will haunt us for decades to come..
So then how is that Bush's fault?????
Doesn't make sense.
It's probably Bush's fault! nm
//
It's Bush's fault...
//
Oh, no. Everything is Bush's fault. I have never
nm
They will probably still say "its Bush's fault".
nm
That the Obamanites will say it's Bush's fault!
I'll hold my "I could have told you so" remarks until later in the year, too. I am HOPING for the best, but have my doubts......I don't think there are *any* politicians any more who are worth their salt. Sad, sad, sad..........
If you think the economy was Bush's fault....
Remember this. In 1933 President Roosevelt regulated the banks to prevent another depression, by limiting what the banks could invest in. The collapse of the banking industry was caused by whom? BUSH? Guess again. The banks were deregulated by Clinton in October of 1999. It just took some time for the bank's bad investments to do them in, just like it would us.
Bush's fault for NO? Get your facts straight..

In regard to the Herald editorials and toxic letters to the editor from the hard left blaming President Bush for everything that went wrong in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina:

If the above writers had done a little research they would know that FEMA is not an agency of first responders. It is not the agency responsible for bringing bottled water or fresh food or removing people from harm's way. It does not have law enforcement authority. First responders are the responsibility of local and state government. FEMA is a federal agency providing funds to local government after the problem arises. It helps the locals respond and rebuild. FEMA's Web site states, don't expect them to be there with their aid until three or four days after a disaster strikes.

The National Guard is under the command of each state's governor not the president. The president can federalize control of a state's guard on his own order, but doing so without a governor's consent to deal with an intrastate natural disaster would be an extreme insult to the governor and the state. Also, using federal troops for local police actions is against the law.

President Bush declared the entire Gulf Coast including Louisiana and New Orleans a federal disaster area days before Katrina hit in order to speed federal aid.

Now let's get down to the real problem. The president got on the phone two days before the hurricane blew in to plead with Governor Blanco to order a mandatory evacuation. She didn't act.

Even Mayor Nagin could have ordered an evacuation. He didn't act. The city's own evacuation plan required the city to provide transportation for those without vehicles or with disabilities. Yet hundreds of school buses just sat there unused and were ruined by flood waters.

Let's place the blame where it belongs. Democrat Gov. Kathleen Blanco and Democrat Mayor Ray Nagin.

It's not our fault...At least, I didn't vote for Bush. LOL!nm

It's Bush's Fault...You made me laugh..sm

Does anyone recall during Clinton's 8 year presidency, the opposition constantly chanting IT'S CLINTON'S FAULT !!!..???...))) Have a good one.

My roof is leaking - it's Bush's fault
I'm sure I'll find a lot of other stuff to blame on Bush
My porch has a crack in it, it's Bush's fault.
x
I have an ingrown toenail, it's Bush's fault.

Wah wah wah

So now the health care is Bush's fault? Hummmmmm....sm
I seem to recall that someone named Clinton ran largely on a platform to redo the health care plan, but of course, no one on the left ever remembers that.   Bush is suddenly responsible for every sin including original sin.
Gotta laugh at the morons who think everything's Bush's fault too
x
snicker....Bush's fault-itis...started already.......sm
One thing's for sure. Obama won't get rid of all the Bush executive orders...he'll keep the dictator one, fer sure.....it's Bush's fault, after all.....
You're right. It IS Bush's fault. He belongs in jail,
.
All Bush's fault....good grief....talk about denial...
Fannie and freddie? Ring a bell? BarneyRubble on the finance committee who said (on video) why there is nothing to worry about! Fannie is sound...and even if it wasn't, the government wouldn't bail them out....ROFL. DEMOCRAT. Bush Admin and John McCain in particular years ago telling them a crisis was looming but BarneyRubble and his crew not only did nothing, they encouraged Fannie to loan even more to people who had no prayer of paying it back...with credit rating less than 0. So tell me again how it was Bush's fault...do you realize how silly that makes your post sound? Get real???? COME ON. LOL. Obama is trying...trying what? To turn us into a welfare state for sure? Yup. Throwing us down the slippery slope of socialism? Yup. Not only trying, people like you are helping him. Well, enjoy is all I can say. Glad I didn't vote for him. This is all you folks. :)
Oh, I'll be here with bells on. Waited 8 long years for this day....
Don't forget your smelling salts, cold rags for the forehead and be sure to pack a few anxiolytics while you're at it.
mmmm....and in 4 years I'll have to subscribe to the weight watcher channel
If they have one.
8 years under 'Herr Bush' can do that
Heil!
You mean 16 years - Both Bush AND Clinton
Disastrous!
Bush = 6 years before Dems took
a tiny barely majority in Congress, but not enough to override his vetos, and the damage was already done by then, so yes, BUSH and the republicans are completely to blame.
ZERO years. He's done no harm. Now BUSH,
*
Buck up!! We got through the Bush years, and how
did that work out for you?  Oh, that's right, we're still living with the consequences of his two terms because of his economic and foreign policy disasters.  Whatever Obama does or doesn't do cannot be any WORSE than what Bush has DONE.  Bush has brought the US to its knees, and while on your knees, PRAY for this new prez.
Absolutely! If you want 8 more years of the Bush Admin! nm
nm
Bush had a republican congress for 6 years and,.sm
for the last 2 years we had a republican president, who was always threatening to veto, and a democratic congress by a very small margin. You can't blame everything on the democrats for the last 2 years.
The economy was great for 6 years of Bush until
nm
Look to the leader of USA for past 8 years GW BUSH nm
n
That has been an ongoing tradition for years, not just Bush (nm)
x
gee, and it was okay for Bush to be the elusive target for the last 8 years??....s/m
...and probably beyond.....that wasn't unhealthy????? from the DNC, liberal democrats, and the liberal media???

and you haven't had enough of being trampled by Bush for the last eight years?

Bush Presidency - eight years in eight minutes

I watch Olbermann.  Sometimes I agree with him.  Sometimes I don't.

However, last night he hit it into the park with his attempt to review what Bush did in the last eight years into eight minutes; he ran over time a little bit because there was so much to say.

I would strongly urge anyone who is not too busy whining, moaning, groaning, hating and raging about Obama -- anyone who is truly interested in the future of America -- to watch this, from beginning to end -- especially at the end (since this is done chronologically, not by matter of importance).

THESE are the reasons people voted for Obama.  THESE are the reasons that Obama supporters cannot understand why Bush worshippers still support him and reject the man who might undo the wreckage of Bush.

BUSH is the man who claimed to have a direct line to GOD.  Obama never claimed anything of the sort; if he had, I probably would not have voted for him for that very reason -- because it creeped me out so much when Bush did it.  So the assertion that Obama supporters are "worshippers" is ridiculous, when, in fact, it seems that those who still support Bush (the closest thing to the Anti-Christ that I'VE ever seen) are the ones who seem to think Bush is some sort of god.

Please watch every single SECOND of this video.  It will give you just a taste of the grueling task ahead of Obama in trying to correct all the damage that Bush has done.  We may, in fact, never know the full extent of the damage because Bush (as is mentioned in the video) has "exempted" himself from the Presidential Records Act.

THIS is why every truly honest, patriotic, honorable American who voted for Obama is so relieved he won.  Not so much "happy" -- but RELIEVED -- hoping (yes, HOPING) that our country may once again resemble the USA that once held respect throughout the world, the USA where hard work was once rewarded, the USA where families could afford to feed their children, and the USA where one's ability to obtain something as basic as healthcare wasn't only limited to the wealthy.  I'm not naive enough to believe this can all be fixed in four (or even eight) years, because Bush has been like a four-year-old sociopath that was armed with Daddy's credit card, an AXE and an arrogant giggle, each of which he used to its full capacity, and that's a LOT to clean up.

Bush just casually reverses 5 years of rhetoric. sm

How many more lies before everyone wakes up?

Editorial Toledo Blade:  Another lie on Iraq

WHEN President Bush declared last week that nobody has ever suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a large segment of the American public must have been very surprised.

They would be the die-hard supporters of the war in Iraq, the one-quarter to one-third of Americans who, according to opinion polls, believe to this day that Saddam was somehow involved in 9/11.

No one likes to think that their President is lying, but for Mr. Bush to casually reverse five years of rhetoric is like Bill Clinton claiming I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.

No, there is no DNA evidence that we know of to indict Mr. Bush for perjury. But the public record includes repeated statements by the President, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and other administration officials that linked responsibility for the 9/11 attacks to Iraq, both directly and indirectly.

The alleged connection was the administration's strongest selling point for the war, slaking the American people's thirst for revenge for the 2001 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C.

As Mr. Bush put it on Oct. 7, 2002, We know that Iraq and the al-Qaeda terrorist network share a common enemy - the United States of America. We know that Iraq and al-Qaeda have had high-level contacts that go back a decade. … We've learned that Iraq has trained al-Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases.

Here he is again, in his 2003 State of the Union address: And this Congress and the American people must recognize another threat. Evidence from intelligence sources, secret communications, and statements by people now in custody reveal that Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of al-Qaeda.

And in his Mission Accomplished photo op, May 1, 2003: In the war on terror, Iraq is now the central front.

Mr. Cheney was even more specific: In 2003, the vice president claimed that the government was learning more and more about links, before 9/11, between Iraq and al-Qaeda. This came even after the CIA had debunked any such claims. In 2004, the veep said flatly that Saddam had long-established ties with al-Qaeda.

Now, you can argue all day about whether faulty U.S. intelligence misled Mr. Bush, or about what the meaning of suggested is, but this much is clear: The administration relentlessly blurred what was a clear distinction between the militantly secular regime of Saddam and Islamic extremists like the 9/11 hijackers so as to create a laser-beam connection in the public mind that they were one and the same.

So for Mr. Bush to now claim that nobody has ever suggested that the Sept. 11 attacks were ordered by Iraq, as he did last week, is yet another lie in the chain of mendacity that shackles the Bush presidency.

Bush lost the respect we held for him years ago.
and in no small measure is responsible for the divisions that we all find ourselves grapping with at this very moment. The election is over and the time is here for us to move on into the new age our fellow Americans have delivered to our feet.
If it Clinton screwed something up - why didn't Bush fix it? He had 8 years!

As much as you want to blame Bill Clinton......don't forget who held the reins for the last 8 years......who let them run amuck? Why was nothing done?

Check out the mortgage failures.
Tell me which failed more, prime or subprime
Tell me what is the rate of failures under the CRA or even Bush's ADDI (which i attack alll the time)
Once again, REALITY AND THE DATA doesn't fit ya'lls claims.

Basically what happened was.. we reformed bankruptcy laws.. so that people who ran into dire straights could not restructure.

We packaged the loans into commodity derivatives. These are sorta mirror bets on the loans. Sorta..as the same loan will be sold many times in many derivative packages.. that's why the housing derivatives are worth more than all the real estate in the US. Derivatives are actually not that bad.. when a market is stable and only has to deal with natural forces. The housing market was bubbled.. partially due to low interest rates that encouraged everyone to buy, even the rich, and partially due to the CRA and the ADDI.. which did add customers to the market (helping form the bubble was the extent the CRA and the ADDI had in this mess)

All it took was a few failures to pop the bubble..and make real estate prices drop,. and mind you, it was mainly prime loans (READ not loans given to poor people and not loans under the CRA) that failed. The derivative market.,.which like I said, is really mirrors of the same loans.. cause the defaults to explode with ten times the ferocity, because one loan could effect the price of dozens of derivatives.

Really the poor and even irresponsible people .. simply did not have the economic ability to cause this mess. Pool all their money together and waste it on hookers.. it would have zero effect without help from the rich elites and their magnifying packaged derivatives.

THE CRA and ADDI both had stricter requirements than loans you got from normal banks.. both required income data.. where many prime loans did not.. they also greatly limited you on how much home you could purchase..whereas private banks did not care if you tried to buy something you could not afford.
Don't believe me?.. Look in the phone book.. call your own housing authority - you can get a loan for 106% the purchase price of a home even today.. if you're poor enough.

Ask to hear the red tape and hoops you must go through.. Heck, it is probably easier to just get a real job and earn real money than go through the FHA.

I stated 8 years ago that Bush' foreign "Policies"
,
Hello?! 8 years of Bush cratered the country & caused this
nightmare in the first place. They are all frantically trying to keep us from another Great Depression caused by Bush & republican control. I personally think the damage runs so deep that it can't be stopped in time, but at least they're trying! Maybe next time the idiots will remember what Bush & his cronies have done & will be smarter than to vote republican...
Spoken by someone who posted about Laura Bush's accident about 40 years ago. sm
But I guess we were supposed to forget about that, too?
They towed Bush's line for 6 long years. Ask any progressive
better still, branch out and listen to opposing media views, including progressive radio and newspapers...those guys have yet to get mainstream coverage. To get any kind of decent international coverage, one is forced to go to media source outside of our own country. You might be REALLY surpised at what you find there. Get real.
It will take YEARS for repubs to recover from PALIN AND BUSH AND FOX NEWS... sm
Because they have demeaned themselves and truly hurt the republican party.
We'll discuss that crime when Bush et al are done with their trial.
nm
"it should never have

happened"  . . . deep, real deep.

"It" --- not "I" ! (sigh....)

I'm afraid we will find out all too soon what "it" is.
I don't think "it" is what all his loyal supporters think "it" is.
Sorry that don't cut it and as they say "it aint gonna fly"
Blaming Bush for the trillions that the O is spending??? Excuse me, but the O way outdid anything Bush did in 8 years, it took the O less than 90 days to make it triple worse. You didn't like that Bush spent money, but your okay with the O spending triple the deficit Bush had????? That is not Bush's fault and sorry but that "aint gonna fly".

No they are not trying to "frantically keep us from another great depression". How does giving money to CEO/executives, authorizing millions upon millions in bonuses (then trying to take it back when they hear Americans are not happy - they (the crats) are the ones who authorized it to begin with). Then there is bailing out companies and not enforcing them to use the money to help the company but instead they pocket it and ask for another bailout and they give it to them again, and saying we're giving money to the American banks but instead having it go oversees to bail out other countries banks, and letting our jobs go overseas and telling the people that they are giving the jobs to "oh well those are jobs that Americans don't want anyway". How does drafting kids 18-24, bowing to the S.A. King then lying to us about it, telling other country we are not a great country, but Americans are selfish and irresponsible (among other things he has said), and the other things he has done to destroy our country and who knows what he has told our enemies about us. Not to mention the lies he told us during the campaign like how he was going to pull the troops home, but instead he is sending more to war (a war that he said was "unjust"), how he was going to not increases taxes for people making under 250K, I mean 200K, I mean 175K, I mean 150K. Then we have the FM/FM situation which was caused by the crats in the congress (B. Franks, C. Dodd, etc) and they are the ones who benefited the most, along with your lord the anointed one, which by the way began long before Bush got in there. It started in the Clinton presidency. Lets see...there was how he was going get rid of the patriot act, yet he signed it and it's even worse than when Bush was in. How he was going to tax only the 1% wealthiest, yet my taxes are going up (and I'm by far no where near $150K mark) along with other people who are making around what I make, yet his wealthiest few friends (those 1%) are not paying taxes, and his cabinet is filled with people who don't pay their taxes but that's okay, and he promises change but he fills his cabinet with left-wing Clintonites (no change there). The only changes we the people are seeing are more companies laying off, more people losing houses, more jobs going overseas, etc, etc. He boasted of being the only one to be able to bring the two party's together (you know that nonpartisonship thing), yet there is no equality. He has chosen what...2 or 3 republicans in his cabinet (and yet they vote more democrat than republican). The rest are crat stooges that don't know what they are doing. Uh, tell me, how is all that going to keep us from a depression. And sorry you don't get to use the "This is all Bush's fault" excuse. That aint gonna fly anymore. You cannot blame Bush for the depression the messiah is putting us in. I'm hoping next time the idjits will remember the damage the anointed one and the crats are doing to destroy our country and vote sensibly. I'm hoping a third party will emerge from all this destruction and work for the people. There is no difference between the crat/pubs they all work for themselves. We need real leaders who will work for the people of the country, get us out of this recession/depression, re-establish our once was great nation, and restore credibility to our country. It's not in either parties that are currently in there that's for sure. So, once again, sorry, but the "It's all Bush's fault" is lame and not true. This is all the anointed one's fault and nobody can take that away from him. He didn't have to do this. He could have said no, but he didn't. He could have said I'm going to live up to my campaign promises of transparency and no pork in the spending bill. I need time to read through this. I'm going to get some top economists on this and look it over and get some advice from them. No instead he listens to unqualified people who are only out for themselves. So, sorry but no you don't get to use the "it's all Bush's fault" excuse anymore.
I just get tired of hearing "It's my body, I can
do what I want to with it."  I had a second child totally unplanned for and totally not expected (my first only being 7 months old when I got pregnant), but the thought of abortion never crossed my mind.  That baby was a human being, not just a fetus to me.  That child is now 26 years old and expecting her first child.  She has brought so much joy into my life that I can't even bear to think what it would be without her.  Had I chosen to abort her, I would have missed one of the greatest blessings I had ever been given.  It wasn't just my body that was involved.  The only choice I made was taking the risk for an unwanted pregnancy.  If I didn't want to be pregnant, I probably should have been more careful.  Now, I'm so happy that I wasn't very careful.  She is a beautiful young woman that I treasure dearly.
