Whenever I post on here, I try to pretend like I'm talking to my best friend, who, BTW happens to be an extremely liberal democrat while I'm a semi-conservative republican. We get along very well because when we do talk politics (and we actually do, quite frequently), we have enough respect for each other not to call each other names or attack the other personally. Sometimes I see her point and sometimes she sees mine, but we almost always agree to disagree.
While we're not face to face here, there's really no need to attack someone personally for how they think about something. Maybe it's way off base from what you believe, but at least respect the poster enough to try to engage in debate, not name calling.
I know, sometimes it can be really hard and there are times that I have to just shut this page down before I write something really mean. But if I step away from it for a minute and think what I would say if I was having a debate with that person face to face. I either don't write anything at all or I try to come up with a better way to say what I'm feeling.
I think we could all respect each other's opinions a little better if there weren't so much hatred.
