What is she chose Obama as running mate?

Posted By: mt on 2008-01-09
In Reply to: I hate to say it but I think if Hillary wins the nom - we will end up with a republican president

Do you think that would be beatable? Not sure either one would go for it, but sure would make an interesting race!

Biden was chosen Obama's running mate

for the following reasons:

A.  He's had his face in the public trough for half a century and so has lots of connections and many favors he can call in for his boss.

B.  He has zero charisma and so cannot challenge Obama for the worship of the masses.

C.  He is a complete dips**t, and so poses no intellectual threat to his boss either.

The guy is the perfect ''second banana''.  And I love that during the primary campaign Biden kept insisting that Obama had insufficient experience to be president.  Now Biden, with a straight face, has to work for the man.  That must really chafe, but at least he caught the bouquet!

Yes....she is his running mate.
His VP.....she is NOT running for president.  Barrack Obama is.  And even saying that.....at least she has run a state and had to make executive decisions.  She has been successful in her job as governor and has a high approval rating.  What does Obama have other than the unique ability to flip flop on everything he has ever said and voted for.
I would prefer her as HIS running mate, but...
I would be fairly happy with either!  I have mixed feelings about Hillary, but like I've said, I'm sure she would do a fine job.  I just happen to reeeeally prefer Obama.
It's funnier that his own running mate

Pick McCain's VP running mate!

MSNBC has a "Veepstakes" where you get to make picks on who McCain will pick for VP, and that's kind of fun.  I have no idea who he will pick, but here are some names that are bounced around:

Bobby Jindal (I think too young at 36, but religious right seems to like him, which is more than I can say for McCain, so maybe that would help him there).

Charlie Crist (McCain totally owes him for helping him boost to front runner affter Florida, but he's kind of liberal for base's tastes).

Mitt Romney (the favorite in the "Veepstakes."  Would help McCain in some places like Michigan, could hurt in deep south).

Mike Huckabee (may help in the south, but I can't see any other benefit).

The running mate will be an important factor
I think McCain really needs a good running mate. I really liked Tancreda when he was running. A lot of my viewpoints aligned with his. I also like Ron Paul or Colin Powell (not sure if Powell is Dem or Rep), so if he picks a decent running mate who is "on the ball" about foreign and domestic issues (I think McCain is going to need all the help he can get) he may stand a good chance of winning, otherwise it's going to be hard to know who they will choose to be president.
Barack's running mate - Biden

I am totally relieved to know he finally announced his VP choice.  Just got sick of the Hillary-lovers pushing for her.  So am relieved she's out of the picture.  Also relieved it's Biden.  I actually wanted Biden to win the presidential nomination when he was running.

I am very relieved mostly because Biden will bring the experience and knowlege that Barack needs.  Barack looks up to him and will definitely listen to him and follow is guidance.  I think it's an excellent choice and believe the democrats have a better than average chance to win.

As for the McCain camp - understand they are pretty upset about the choice.  I knew they were pushing for Barack to choose Hillary.  Has to make you wonder, why would the republicans be so rigid in their constantly pushing to have Barack choose Hillary - I can tell you why and its so obvious...they want to win.  Plain and simple.  If Barack chose Hillary it would be a definite 100% chance of loss (okay maybe 95% chance).  Also, do you really think the republicans are going to try to push for Barack to choose someone who is a good candidate?  So now will be interesting to see who the republicans choose for their VP.

Who is Palin's pick for running mate again?

Be careful what you wish for -

there are so many scenarios how this could play out.  I think republicans (the men) need to watch their backs with this person.  they are infatuated right now but this person after all is a self-described pitbull (with lipstick).

I heard someone call this play by the republicans a 'hail mary' like in football, but no matter which party you side with, it was very worrisome watching that little baby be passed around like a football throughout the convention last night...it almost made me sick.

Why I think Palin was picked as VP running mate - sm
I have this feeling that somewhere near the end of this campaign, McCain had second thoughts. I think he changed his mind about wanting to try to lead this mess of a country for the next 4 years. He's no spring chicken. I think Palin was plucked from practically out of nowhere to become his running mate because she was such a joke, so inept and incpable of handling the job of being a US vice-pres., that he knew he would lose, but didn't have to stop running and be viewed as a quitter.

Any thoughts on that?
One reason is because Sarah Palin's his running mate
x
And Obama chose to be Christian,

is he's not trying to push his religion down everyone else's unwilling throats.

You want to be in everyone's bedrooms, whether it's for gay marriage, birth control, abortion, etc.

You want everyone to walk in lock step with you on social issues, and this is exactly why the Republicans are in the toilet.  Americans want to choose their own paths and not have these things forced upon us by a group that claims that only THEY hold the exclusive keys to heaven.

By the way, did you know that Muslims believe that Jesus was a messenger from God (via virginal conception) who had been sent to guide the children of Israel??

And I certainly don't want Obama running it
After what I heard at the debate, and his viewpoints on the bailout. Don't trust him.
Thought of that, but Obama is running for the top
nm
Obama should not be in the running for the highest
nm
Who cares - she is not running. Even Obama said
Out. For some reason you seem to think Gov. Palin would have been able to stop her daughter. If you want a baby bad enough your going to find a way (place) to get pregnant. Her daughter didn't consult with the parents. This is not Gov. Palins fault and even then it's not a "fault". Her daughter wanted to have a baby and so she got pregnant. End of deal! Leave the spouses and kids out of the hatred you hold for the candidates.
Obama is running for president of what
xx
Ever heard of Barack Hussein Obama before he started running?
that argument doesn't play out either! and she's the VP not the president!
So if the intent is solely to mate and
did god create infertility and is it against god to undergo fertility treatments?
I don't know how any of them chose one,
but I think Bosnia had something to do with US connection to Russia or Germany (my history is rusty on this. Ie debated US involvement in Bosnia when it was going on.)

It's all anyone's guess.

Why did Bush chose Iraq in retaliation for 9/11?

Why do you think Clinton ignored Rwanda?

You certainly can chose with whom
you have sex.  You just cannot choose with whom you WANT to have sex.   Lucky for you that you want to have sex with a man, and that's more socially acceptable.   It's not to your credit, and it's not to a 'homo's' discredit that they feel the opposite. That's the hand God deals you, and just as immutable as race.  It is generally frowned upon for blacks to wish they were white, try to make themselves white, try to cure themselves of blackness, disassociate themselves from other blacks.  That would be considered a pathology.

It is generally frowned upon for blacks to wish they were white, try to make themselves white, try to cure themselves of blackness, pray to God to remove their blackness, disassociate themselves from other blacks.  That would be considered a pathology.  That being said, being black should not prevent anyone from seeking the same RIGHTS as whites, from associating with whites, and it does not mean God loves them less for giving them a harder row to hoe.

Maybe that's why he chose the kid's playroom...
so he could have a See N Say shoved up his nether region - and the sheep says "Baaaa Baaaaa" ---- he could be a naughty, naughty little boy - instead of a stepford husband getting worked out like a tennis racket.
Those people chose to have that job...
The military gets paid very well. It is such honorable job. They get paid to fight wars so no one messes with the USA!!! Police officers die everyday here and it seems no one gives a CRAP!!! Add up all the firemen, police officers, etc and those numbers for the same years in this war is FAR FAR LESS. I wish people would stop complaining. IT IS THEIR JOB!!! My brother in law is in the Army and I wish he was sent over there. Maybe it would make him more of a man then a wife beater.
Not that you are owed any explanation for what we chose to post...sm
because anyone who wants to come on the liberal board and post liberally and respectfually can. From your tone, I would think you were not a liberal.

FYI, we have discussed the Gitmo decision, and you or anyone else is welcome to post *important legislation* coming up. I'm sure there will be in response to the Gitmo judgement.

The firing off of misses by North Korea is a few days old and I'm waiting to see how the government reacts. I mean we went into Iraq for so-called stockpiles of WMDs and yet N. Korea is test firing their missles and the White House says there is no threat, so this tells me one or two things. #1. There was equally no threat in Iraq. OR #2. We are more ambivalent to fight in N. Korea than we were in Iraq, especially since our troops are already spread out.

Thanks for your input new blood. Feel free to open a debate of your own if that's what you want to see happen, but if you are a conservative here to stir the pot spare us and yourself the annoyance.
Bush could have snagged 100 Taliban but chose not to.

I wonder if the neocons will make a movie about this, and I wonder how many thank you notes Bush has received from terrorists in the last five years.  :-(

U.S. Declines Taliban Funeral Target

Sep 13, 6:29 PM (ET)

By LOLITA C. BALDOR

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. military acknowledged Wednesday that it considered bombing a group of more than 100 Taliban insurgents in southern Afghanistan but decided not to after determining they were on the grounds of a cemetery.

The decision came to light after an NBC News correspondent's blog carried a photograph of the insurgents. Defense department officials first tried to block further publication of the photo, then struggled to explain what it depicted.

NBC News claimed U.S. Army officers wanted to attack the ceremony with missiles carried by an unmanned Predator drone but were prevented under rules of battlefield engagement that bar attacks on cemeteries.

In a statement released Wednesday, the U.S. military in Afghanistan said the picture - a grainy black-and-white photo taken in July - was given to a journalist to show that Taliban insurgents were congregating in large groups. The statement said U.S. forces considered attacking.

During the observation of the group over a significant period of time, it was determined that the group was located on the grounds of (the) cemetery and were likely conducting a funeral for Taliban insurgents killed in a coalition operation nearby earlier in the day, the statement said. A decision was made not to strike this group of insurgents at that specific location and time.

While not giving a reason for the decision, the military concluded the statement saying that while Taliban forces have killed innocent civilians during a funeral, coalition forces hold themselves to a higher moral and ethical standard than their enemies.

The photo shows what NBC News says are 190 Taliban militants standing in several rows near a vehicle in an open area of land. Gunsight-like brackets were positioned over the group in the photo.

The photo appeared on NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders' blog. Initially military officials called it an unauthorized release, but they later said it was given to the journalist.

NBC News had quoted one Army officer who was involved with the spy mission as saying we were so excited that the group had been spotted and was in the sights of a U.S. drone. But the network quoted the officer, who was not identified, as saying that frustration soon set in after the officers realized they couldn't bomb the funeral under the military's rules of engagement.

Defense Department officials have said repeatedly that while they try to be mindful of religious and cultural sensitivities, they make no promises that such sites can always be avoided in battle because militants often seek cover in those and other civilian sites.

Mosques and similar locations have become frequent sites of violence in the U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they have often been targets of insurgents and sectarian fighting in Iraq.

Does not chang the fact that they chose the Bridge ...
over Katrina victims. FACT.
Of course, the Obama flock only sees the "good" in such a decision...
feel free to chose the sources

you want to believe -- Wall Street Journal versus "websites".  As the McC campaign stated ' this election will not be based on facts.  They are going personality whole-hog.  OMG.  I just offended someone somewhere.

Chose my words carefully, I knew you

So people are poor because they chose to give tax cuts to billionaires?
Just today Cheney cast the deciding vote to cut back Medicare, Medicaid, and student loans. I guess as long as you're not the one who has a bit of misfortune and need a safety net, you really don't give a hoot, do ya? What about the billions spent in Iraq to turn it into a theocracy like Iran?
That is not what HE says he is running as, it is what...sm
everyone else says he is running as.
Yes we do have the right. If you are running for ...sm
the hightest office in the land, we have the right to logically judge whether that person could reasonably be expected to complete his term. If someone has a serious disease that could affect his/her capability of doing so, we have the right to know that before we cast our vote. This goes for both candidates. Transparency, isn't that what both candidates say they are for?
Is he actually running?

Oh? Is someone new in the running?...nm

Your aren't running for VP and won't be
McCain camp made such as issue about Obama's lack of foreign travel, boasting about how many times he had been overseas to visit the troops, and claiming that made him a more viable foreign policy candidate. He openly challenged Obama to make his trip overseas, gleefully hoping that Obama would end up looking like a rookie. Obama responded in kind, met with world leaders, garnered open support from Iraq's president and turned out 250,000 Berliners for his speech. Not too shabby for a rookie. So, if there was so much flap over Obama's not having been overseas and how that made him inexperienced, what does it say about his VP pick, who applied for a passport last year? McCain can't have it both ways. This issue is being raised to point out McCain double standards.
Running From Reality
If there was one pre-eminent characteristic of the Republican convention this week, it was the quality of deception. Words completely lost their meaning. Reality was turned upside down.

From the faux populist gibberish mouthed by speaker after speaker, you would never have known that the Republicans have been in power over the past several years and used that titanic power to lead the country to its present sorry state.

Probably because he's running for president, no?

If you were running for President ---

Okay, I have an idea.  If you were able to run for President or even be the top adviser for the next President, what would your plans be for getting us out of this economic crisis?  Everyone seems to hate Obama's plans, and nobody really knows McCain's plans, so help us out here - what would you do?

He already has. Hello? He is running for president. All sm
candidates are cleared way before the actual election. They would not take the chance of having someone elected president and then find out he fails to pass an FBI check.
of course he would say that stuff - he was running against him! nm
