I don't think it is safe to ignore people like Chomsky. sm
I have never been a head in the sand kind of person.  Especially when Hugo Chavez holds him up (as well as his book) as a shining example when speaking to the UN.
    I think a major issue people ignore...(sm)

is why we are a target of terrorism.  US policies towards the middle east thus far have been nothing less than selfish.  What US news doesn't tell you about is how these policies actually affect people living there, and more often than not it is devastating.  That is where it began.

Granted, regardless of how we got here, we're in the middle of it right now and actions should be taken, but not actions like those that have been taken by the Bush administration.  The prisoners at Gitmo are a prime example.  They should have tried these people to see if they even needed to be there instead of holding them with no charges and torturing them.  The ones who are guilty should have gone through the legal system and suffered the consequences whether it be death or imprisonment.

Here's what I see.  We went into Iraq on false pretenses about WMDs.  We found that to be false, so the cause was changed to saving the people of Iraq from a dictator -- a brutal dictator at that.  We were supposed to be providing them with democracy.  So, what do you think the Iraqi people think of us now?  Have we killed as many people as Saddam did yet?  Have we tortured people just like Saddam did?  Yes.  So, in their eyes, if this is now democracy, how much better is it than what they started out with?

If we are to set the standard by which other democracies use as a guideline, we need to get it right, and that includes respecting the culture, religion and social norms of other countries instead of trying to make them into something they are not.

Another note:  You are saying that terror should be met with like force.  So, should Bush be waterboarded?

I encourage all responsible people to ignore this message
This kind of rhetoric is old. Responsible people are well informed. Responsible people read both sides and make their own decisions on what they believe or don't believe. To tell people not to listen or to have someone banned is NOT responsible. It is the exact hate filled rhetoric the left-wingers spew.

If you don't like what she has to say don't listen to her, but this is a complete turnoff telling people what they should or shouldn't listen to. Makes me want to listen all the more. I am tired of division and name calling. That is why I am not a liberal anymore. As for spreading trash...yes, I do see that a lot.
Who said I was "dashing"? Why not ignore my post? nm

I'm not cold. It's not the government's fault if people ignore warnings.
I have no idea what McCain is doing in the Gulf today. That shows he is well meaning but probably has not lived after a hurricane. Everything to be done is done by now for someone who will be there for the storm. The real work will really start in about 4 days. Unless he is just there to give moral support to the national guard and dmat teams.
I wish he had not changed the convention schedule.
Ignore my spelling errors in the above post
Just read it and have a couple spelling errors, please ignore them.
You blissfully ignore that this post is aimed at........
Politicians, not everyday people like yourself.....
please ignore double post......server not cooperating

You are what is wrong with me. You and people like you. SM
Your antiwar views and support of people like Cindy Sheehan put our troops at RISK. You cannot or will not see that because you are having just too darn much fun. You attacked the sm poster for something you perceived she was saying, that being a negative post about American Indians, but you were WRONG and you have been wrong before, accusing people of saying things I clearly remember another poster saying and you NEVER SAY YOU ARE SORRY.  What is wrong with YOU???  I'm sorry, there isn't any nice way to tell you what I think of you.  Read the letter by the Marine on the conservative board.  He lays it all out for you and there can be no pretense that you care about the troops when you read that letter.
What's wrong with you people? I am not sam.....sm
And quite frankly, the trend I see, is that you guys think you always have to have the last word, which makes you think you're right all the time. I just mostly ignore it all, though, because if it makes you feel better about yourself, I'll let you.

I just wish some of you guys weren't always so meanspirited to the right.

But again, I'm not sam. "ms" are my initials.
Wrong! Their may have been some people that...sm
would say McCain was pandering to the black voter if Powell had been his choice, but I think that most intelligent Americans have great respect for him, democrat and republican, and such insinuations would have been a non issue. I would have said wow, is CP qualified to be president, yes, much different than my opinion of Sarah Palin.
What is wrong with you people?.....(sm)

We should take them out once and for all?  With what?  Nukes?  That would kill how many innocent civilians?  Now there's a plan...NOT.  I know, let's invade them.  Uh-oh....that's right, our military is spread so thin right now that it's next to useless....wonder why that happened...hmmm.  I know, how about we reinstate the draft.  How many of your kids are you willing to send?

You said, "While O is trying to reduce our defense abilities, these leaders are building up theirs."  Wrong again.  What you should have said was, while Bush was wasting all our military resources on BS to advance his political agenda, these leaders were building up their defense capabilities.  And why would they do that?  My guess would be to protect themselves from rogue nations --- like ours was under Bush.

Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that "a big stick" isn't the answer to everything?  In case you haven't noticed, this kind of thinking is one of the main reasons your party is now on the brink of extinction.

Please. They are both eligible. What is wrong with you people? sm
McCain's parents were both American citizens and his father was serving the US in the canal zone when he was born and Obamas's mother was born in Kansas for God's sake. What is wrong with you people that no one wants to talk about the issues? Doesn't say much about the intelligence of voters when they cannot grasp a simple concept like citizenship.
Then you are hanging around the wrong people (sm)
I don't associate myself with prejudiced people if I can help it. The fact is I am a registered democrat and am not voting for Obama based on his associations (Rev. Right, Ayers, etc)and his stance on partial-birth abortion. I don't care one iota about his race. However, I do think it would be great for America to have a black president, just not Obama. A good upstanding, honest and truly patriotic black man would be great. I would love to not vote for McCain, but I cannot in good conscience vote for Obama.
    Blaming wrong people......
Blame the freakin' banks and CEOs - Wall St., speculators driving up housing costs (just like they are driving up gas costs, again). Barney Frank didn't bag all these mortgages into derivatives and then bet on the derivatives......Sheesh. When I refinanced my other home (yes, we have 2), I was told my loan would probably be sold. It never was. Probably because the payments were always made on time. (this was 5-6 years ago). My husband was laid off the first of the year (I don't work due to medical problems). My kids are paying the mortgage on the 2nd house. (I had a house when I married, then we bought a house together right before we were married). We don't have a pot to pss in, but, we have 2 houses to worry about. Can't sell 'em and our mortgage on the house WE live in is cheaper than rent.
You said you enjoyed proving people wrong...
then provide your source. And provide some more current statistics. That is all I asked for. A simple request. If you can't, you can't. No biggie.
Sorry you are wrong. ACORN hired people off...sm
the street for an hourly wage. They had a quota of how many people they were supposed to register, many were lazy and forged the applications, and then ACORN did not verify that the registrations were legit before they sent them in. There was NO oversight in some states, thus the problem.
"why people think Muslim is wrong"
I didn't say "I think Muslim is wrong."
Wrong. People are afraid to question O about
    nm
You guys are focusing on the wrong people
there are always a few stragglers in the crowd, in every race and every political party (like that guy who stood up and said kill him)in the McCain campaign, every religion and every walk of life, just people who say whatever they are feeling at any given time acting like they were raised by wolves out back in the woods. You can't let them upset you. You will be upset every day.
I voted for Pres. Obama and I didn't agree with the booing either. I didn't hear it first of all, but I believe you it happened and I would have wanted to hide under the table myself. That was rude, especially at an event of such caliber. so I would have to agree with you on that one.
Maybe they will learn to do better along their path in life. I don't think they can hardley be counted as how the majority of his supporters would behave.

Wrong! I happen to love my country and its people.

    took my post wrong way
I did not say Im in any jewish discussion groups.  I can get that at home with my family.  They are mostly all jewish, some stricter than others, most moderate or non practicing, as I am.  However, I was in a Kaballah discussion group for about two years a few years ago.  Very interesting.  All I said was, if you want to learn more how jews feel about Israel and leaving Gaza, etc., join a discussion group or go to your local synagogue, they always have classes to teach non jews about being jewish.  I meant no harm in my post, you have taken it wrongly.  I dont know how many exactly side with Sharon or the settlers, however, I know from my family and friends and what I have experienced in life that the Holy Land has to be shared with both jews and palestineans, gosh, when it comes down to it, they are brothers and sisters.  That is the only way for peace.  Many jews that advocate staying in Gaza are orthodox jews and from my experience, they are not the nicest people around.  That I know, I have met quite a few, growing up in NYC and Brooklyn, right down the block from the Jewish Defense League.  My cousin, who is a jew, married a catholic.  She became a jew yet the orthodox synagogue would not accept her and when they had children, they were not considered jewish, in the orthodox eyes.  Well, my cousin and his family joined a more moderate non orthodox synagogue who accepted his wife and family.  From what I see, for many years, gosh most of my life, being jewish was not too cool, unless you lived in a NY jewish area (which I did).  Even christians did not care one way or the other for jews.  However, nowadays, christians think these are the end times, so they are trying to band together with jews.  This has happened only recently and that is great, we should all band together, however, christians try to paint a pretty picture about how alike jews and christians are and they arent.  Im not trying to give a sermon here, Im just telling you..actually too much about my life, LOL..
Totally wrong because the most educated people vote for Obama sm
That is a fact. The dumb, uneducated vote repub, the greedy rich vote repub and the religious right vote repub. The college educated people vote Obama. Why do you think McBush and Failin are out there calling Joe SixPack etc... that's their only hope. They know the filthy rich without conscience will vote for them. They know the religiouis nuts but some of the eehaas and dummies have been going to Obama and McBush and Failin are freaking out a little.
Then you read my post wrong.
I don't know what conversations have occurred on either board.  I was mainly interested in why you and gt would made the assertion that somehow conservatives don't care about child molestation.  Frankly, I was rather taken aback.  I have never even seen the far left pin that one on conservatives.  My posts have been respectful totally.  I thought you wanted debate.  I made that mistake one other time on this board.  I won't make it again.
    You read my post wrong
It is strange that this particular vet has had reported so many incidents with anti-war folks.  The death threat was from a white supremist, by the way.
Wrong. See post below. He tried to stop this...
    in 2005. Dems blocked it.
Sorry, replied to the wrong post.
I meant to reply to the conservative way post.
No, Bridger. There is nothing wrong with my post.

I made my comments before I posted a couple of excerpts (allowed to do), I posted the link not once but twice just to ensure if one did not work the other would (not specified in law but something I always do).

Now, you might not like the article I posted, but I complied with copyright laws.

Is it too difficult a thing for you to research copyright infringement laws?

I will guarantee you that boards such as this have been brought down for such violations.  Do not be a part of the problem but a part of the solution.  Reign yourself in before smeone else does.

There are so many things wrong with your post
You remind me of Joe Biden - the gift to conservatives that just keeps on giving every time your brain tricks you into thinking you have something to say.

First, you don't know that "these people" did anything with respect to anyone's rights.

Second, if by "rights" you mean marriage, marriage isn't a right.

Third, just who is it that guarantees that if Christians (the word IS capitalized, incidentally) "get out of the business of government", the government will get out of the business of things like they're doing here?

I could go on...and on...but you get the drift, don't you? Learn how to think instead of pumping junk sociopolitical philosophy.

Yes, you are right. My post is in the wrong spot, I gueess. I do it sometimes. SM
But of course, I am probably lying.  I'll say it first so you don't have to.  Unless you just want to that is.
Wrong fact. From his own words, did you not read the post...
he was afraid that if it passed it might be used in some way to change Roe v Wade and was willing to sacrifice babies born alive on the altar of choice.

    Not scare tactics. the truth.
I know more than you! Some people post under sm..s/m
    And you posted under 'm'.
I know that sm means see message and NM means no message.

Why do you then enter 'sm.. m'....this is very confusing.

Pick another posted-by name and STICK TO IT.
So that you can be identified by other posters.
    Coward.

It is very inappropriate when posters just jump into the middle of a thread with an answer, out of context, not knowing what was going on from the beginning.
People just putting their nose into everything.

    YOU NEED SOME REST!

For the post below......Why do you people always have

As I said, I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears who have no relationship with God.......

but without God in EVERYTHING, you're up crap creek without a paddle deary....

My question to you is why not bring God into it? What gives you the right to say God shouldn't be brought into every aspect of our lives.....just because you have no relationship with God doesn't mean we all feel the way you do.

By pushing God aside, it generally gives those who want to justify their causes the lack of conscience in order to push their agendas.  BTW..... it's not necessary to put parenthesis around God; for most of us God is God......doesn't require your description as if it's a bad thing.

And you tell the people here when and where to post?
    Are you the moderator?
Lurker, 3/4 of the people who post here leave no name. That is nothing new.

Ok....then don't attack when people post things about...
Barack Obama. He put himself in that position, to be put under a microscope...using your logic. Since it doesn't matter to you whether what is posted about Palin is true or not, you should not get all up in arms when someone posts something about Obama. But of course, that would indicate you had a sense of fairness, wouldn't it?
That's because people continue to post on a non-politics issue
I got over her a long time ago. Obama and Biden won. McCain and Palin lost. Doesn't bother me one bit they lost because I didn't vote for them. I was upset the GOP put in such a lame candidate to begin with. But when you post a non-political issue on the political board gloating about the hardships they are going through and are gleeful about it because of the hatred for Sarah Palin, then yes, I will reply and I'll keep replying and will reply in the future. And if any picks on Obama's daughter's either I will reply with a rebuttal and keep replying. These people are not in politics. I followed Obama's advice he gave during the campaign - leave the candidate's family alone. Especially the kids. There is nothing lower that finding happiness in other people's sadness. And the kids did not do anything wrong.
My post ' I defend all innocent people' was a reply to the
    question

'Do you also defend the innocent people in our local prisons because I'm sure that there are a few in there who are actually innocent..'

Just today....and theboard is dominated by people piling on me every time I post.
What you don't like is anyone who disagrees with you. Sounds a whole lot more like Nazism than American democracy. But I don't suppose a socialist party would recognize that.
Ignore MT and maybe it will go away nm
    dd
    Will ignore you.

Your postings have deteriorated to a level of delusional ranting, it seems.  You bring up things I've never mentioned, accusing me of all sorts of crazy things.  It's pretty messed up all in all.  I wonder if it made you feel better about yourself or relieved some tension with all your grievances.  I am not going to read your posts for a while.  They are disturbing in their being out of touch with reality and their accusations and they waste my time.  End of story.

PS>>>>You guys keep giving us orders on how to act on the liberal board, that we shouldn't campaign for each other, etc., etc.  Why is that?  Isn't this our board?  Who made you the liberal board police?  Also, why would you say I'm not Lurker's equal?  What is the point in that comment?  Did I ever boast that I was?  Just things for you to think about, don't need answers as these are rhetorical questions.

Just ignore them, and hopefully they will go away...sm
You brought up very valid points in your original post.

They're just trying to get your goat. It's one of the more childish games they like to play on the board, as you know.

At least they're not being potty-mouthed. For that, this heckler here, gets half a point for playing slightly nice.

    I don't just ignore anything --
There are parts of what Obama stands for that I do not agree with, there are parts of what McCain stands for that I do not agree with. Either way I voted this time, there were things I was going to have to overlook.

    can't ignore this

Just ignore her...she seems to be just trying.

    Ok, let's just ignore...(sm)

the military defense attorney who stated exactly who is in Gitmo.  According to your statement, he must just be lying.  What about all those prosecuters who have resigned or asked for reassignment because they knew what was going on and didn't want any part of it?  If Gitmo prisoners are as bad as you say they are, why haven't they been tried and sentenced?  But I guess you know better because, what, Bush said so?

I think a lot of people miss the point of Gitmo.  In my opinion, Gitmos is nothing more than a tool to play on American fears (meanwhile sacrificing all US credibility).  From your statement, I think it would be safe to say that it seems to have been effective on a few.

I hate to see you go and I wish you could just ignore, or even...sm
wear your feelings on your sleeve and brush them off everyday. One thing I learned a long time ago on this board is that we can not change the conservatives and they are not going to change us, so I think the separate boards is a good thing, so I do try to stay off their board but sometimes it is tempting to respond to them when they are bashing us over there.

But, in politics there are going to be trolls, there are going to be people who don't want to do anything but argue and incite, so just stand your ground and figure out which ones are here to debate (in rare form) and don't take the other ones serious at all.
