This is what GT said, Suzie:

I don't forgive Bush or his administration or anyone surrounding him who still stands by him for making what I think is the biggest "mistake" of a lifetime and making that "mistake" under false pretenses.  I personally don't think it was a mistake.  I personally think he came into the White House with the intent of attacking Iraq.  I believe he merely used 9/11 as a tool to get what he wanted all along, which makes him an even worse human being.

As far as the story about Laura Bush:  The fact is that she ran a stop sign and killed a friend of hers in an auto accident when she was still a teenager.  If you've read some of the posts on this board, I've been challenged to supply a source.  I have decided that I'm not going to participate in the kind of unproductive quarreling and sniping that is 90% of the Conservative board, and I don't respond to posts from posters who have proven themselves to be here only to cause turmoil and not to debate. 

When I saw what GT wrote, instead of demanding that she provide proof, I merely did an internet search and was able to find the information myself.  If someone's sole purpose in posting me is to insult and provoke me, I'm unwilling to go back and do that same search again.  If they truly want the information badly enough, they can look it up for themselves.  Truth is they don't want the information; all they want to do is insult and start trouble here.

GT is entitled to her opinion, and there are a lot of people who wish this president and anyone who willing surrounds themelve with this president to "burn in hell."  There are people who have said way worst things than that about this president in their total frustration and desire to STOP killing our military for no good reason.  Yet, these motives are twisted, and what is clearly someone who is DEFENDING and SUPPORTING our troops by advocating that their lives stop being sacrificed by a president who never had the guts or the courage HIMSELF to do what he's asking millions of young people to do, simply because of privilege and wealth.  If this war is so important, then why isn't his own flesh and blood over there?  I think that's a VERY fair question.  A true hero is someone like John McCain, certainly NOT George W. Bush.

Having said all that, to take what she said in her anger and frustration about the PRESIDENT and twist and turn and manipulate and mangle it until it's suddenly about a POSTER on this board is beyond ridiculous.  You seem to have a very fair mind.  Can't you see that, even a little bit?

And, again, GT is right when she said that if it was Hillary or Chelsea, it would have been okay.  I remember all the terrible things said about Chelsea and Hillary when Clinton was in office.  I'm not saying either is right.  I'm saying that each side is entitled to their respective opinions, and those opinions have run the gamut from politely and meekly disagreeing to voicing very hurtful words -- and this has happened on BOTH sides.

One more thing regarding GT:  Look closely at her posts.  Just last week with MT, for example.  MT decided to act respectfully, and GT responded to her very respectfully.  GT has given what she GETS.  It's clear from the posts on this board.  GT seems to be a person who is very respectful of the opinions of others and has shown herself to be an intelligent and well-informed debater.  But she's not going to stand by and just get PLUMMETED by someone, and for that I don't blame her.

Take a close look at both the Conservative and Liberal boards in the last few days.  After three people supposedly left, there was a nice, peaceful, quiet CALM, almost inviting people to contribute to the discussion that you yourself so graciously prompted.  You may not agree with people, but you treat them with respect (which is the reason I'm responding to you).

As you can see, one of them is back, and the person has started to pollute this board again with her hatred, rage and total lack of respect for anyone who disagrees with her.  I refuse to respond to her and, as I said above, to those who just want to argue and insult other posters.  I've been caught up in their web before and was dragged all the way DOWN to their level.  I found it a very uncomfortable, foreign place to be, and I don't wish to go back there.

I'm not asking you to agree with me or others or to stifle your opinion.  In fact, that's something that I would find very boring.  But manners, respect and tolerance go a long way towards facilitating healthy, intelligent discourse between posters, regardless of one's political leanings. 

I think you've shown a lot of dignity and grace.  You don't seem to harbor all the anger and hatred that these other three do.  The Conservatives need a lot MORE people like you and a lot LESS of them.  You're a wonderful role model, and it's too bad they don't choose to be more like you.

As far as defending what anyone says:  If you take all the vile, nasty things those three have said on the Conservative board and put it up against a few things GT and/or others said on this board, it's more than a draw.  Every single derogatory comment to one of the three has been a REaction (not an action) to something nasty that was said to or about them.  They can't seem to be angry at ISSUES.  They're angry with every single HUMAN BEING who doesn't agree wtih them, and they choose to attack angrily, rather than to debate intelligently.

So, once again, why don't we all just ignore the offensive posters?  Their words, standing alone with no heated rebuttal, will show quickly enough what their true motives are for being here.

It was very nice to see you again, Suzie.  I respect your opinion, and I respect the way you present it.  I again hope you keep posting here.
