Devil's advocate.
1. Do you honestly think all republicans are an "elite few?" Don't get out much or what. Not everyone who is middle/lower middle/or lower class is a Dem. The generalizations are out of control. This whole class and party crap is do destructive. Each person is an individual - period.
2. Roe v Wade is probably one of the most misunderstood and abused rulings in our nation. What is boils down to for me is lack of personal responsibility. Only 3% of abortions performed in this country are a result of a rape/incest/or grave risk to the mother. The other 97% are just didn't bother with birth control or any measure to prevent the pregnancy. They are a matter of convenience. We see people having multiple abortions all the time. It takes away the rights of the unborn. And i do believe life begins at conception. Ever seen an ultrasound of an unborn child, heard the heartbeat or felt the kick? That is life - period.
3. I do own a gun. I have a right to own a gun. You know, "the right to bear arms." Or perhaps you only like the bill of rights when you agree with it. I do not own it to commit a crime; I own it for self protection. If you have been a crime victim, as you state, you should understand the feeling of need for such. Many of us do. Once a victim, a feeling of personal safety is often hard to regain.
4. Health care is a right. Well???? I do not think anyone should be deprived of necessary care but I think that many of the people who do not pay for care are the ones who abuse it the most. you know, ER abuse is a huge problem. People use the ER like it;s their primary doctor. That only serves to drive costs up, but we can't turn patients away, especially if they are Medicaid patients. I do think people should get necessary care, but I think we need to have some controls put in place to prevent such abuses. And I do think it should not just be a give-away. It should be made available, but there has to be some method of "payment." If a person COULD afford to pay something, they should have to do so. Period.
5. The death penalty. Society does not need to continue to pay for such offenders nor should we have to fear their release back into society. Sorry - you destroy life, you don't need to be alive. Rape and murder a/or child, you're out of here. Rape and torture another human being, you're out of here. you destroy life, you get to die.
