The network of nerves resembles a horse's tail, thus "cauda equina". Everybody has one. So I guess that means everybody has a horse's rear end, huh?

Reference is commonly given that the spinal cord terminates at L1-L2 and that the spinal cord tapers caudally to become the conus medullaris.
