there are a variety of preparations that are used to suppress TNF (tumor necrosis factor) that are indicated for conditions besides CA, inflammatory bowel disease being one of them. It could be that he is referring to a group of preparations of that type. Is it pretty clear?

telling us that the apostrophe is the same as saying "of," as in 17 weeks of gestation, which would be okay.  Or you can say a 17-week gestation.  Either way would be okay I would think.  Not 17-weeks gestation though.
