Pacemaker syncope
Subject: Pacemaker syncope

Pacemaker syncope due to "a runaway pacemaker firing" could be referred to as a "referred syncope."

Also...a pacemaker when inserted to treat syncope, fails to function, then the patient would have "recurrent syncope" due to pacemaker failure.

Sounds like Dr. Campbell's pacemaker OR
Subject: Sounds like Dr. Campbell's pacemaker OR

The ventricular lead was difficult to place and required multiple repositions. Even at final positioning the thresholds were not great. He had a pacing threshold of 0.8 volts at a current of 1.8 ma with an impedance of 576 ohms. R-wave sensing was 4.1 millivolts. However, I don’t feel that sensing on this lead will be all that necessary – he is pacemaker dependent. Both leads were then fixed in place and connected to a Medtronic DDDR pacemaker model Kappa DR803. The pacemaker demonstrated good sensing and capture.
____ 496 ohms (pacemaker)
Subject: ____ 496 ohms (pacemaker)

The R-wave was measured at 12.6 millivolts. Pacing threshold was 0.7 volts at 0.5 milliseconds, ____  832 ohms.  The second lead was then placed in the right atrium.  P-waves measured 1.7.  Pacing threshold was 1.1 volts at 0.5 milliseconds, ____ 496 ohms.

This doctor talks so fast I have no idea what he is saying.  The two blanks are the same word but I have no clue what it even sounds like.

Subject: Who's good with pacemaker implantation terminology?

Then the second introducer sheath was placed over the second guidewire. The guidewire was removed, and the atrial lead was passed. The lead sheath was split away, and the atrial lead was positioned. Thresholds were obtained and initially were good. However, when we pulled the _____ out, the lead became out of position. Therefore, the screw was retracted, and the lead was repositioned.

The blank sounds for all the world like "styloids."

He's a native English speaker but he's also the worst mumblo-American I've ever heard. Most of the ESLs are easier to understand....
