answered it, but it's one of those that seems to be a judgment call. I don't like to influence those if I can help it. Averbal isn't a word, and the dictator probably meant nonverbal, but since it is what was dictated, I don't really know what to say. If it's verbatim, I would use averbal. If it's not verbatim, I guess I would either change it to nonverbal or put it in quotes. Then again, I may just type it and keep going because that is what was said and I'm too tired to fiddle with it. I get docs making up words now and then and I usually put the word they said in quotes if it's very clear and not too crazy.
