Kardex

I got my information from my HUC course textbook by Kay Cox-Stevens, pg 196.

"Kardex.  The patient care record card is a consolidated record of all procedures, treatments, medications, and tests for each patient.  It is a unit worksheet used by the nursing staff, kept during every patient's stay, and discarded on discharge.  The record card may be kept in a Kardex holder, but computerized Kardexes are widely used.  A common practice is to print out patient care information on each patient at the beginning of the shift.  Nurses keep this information on clipboards or in notebooks, and the paper Kardex is fast becoming obsolete."

It was stressed to us in class to "put everything ON the Kardex." 

Guess it applies to both, much like "Roladex"  -- put it on the Rolodex, put it in the Rolodex (for those of us old enough to remember working with the Rolodex!!!)

  • Cartia XT maybe. It is an antihypertensive. nm - ss
