XAP or ZAP

Subject: XAP or ZAP

I was on an ER account that used this all the time and asked about it because ZAP is a topical anesthesia that dentists use and was told to use that until further clarified, which it never was...until one day one of the doctor's said "that's XAP, not ZAP."  I researched it a little bit, don't have the links right now, but you can do a little googling on it.  It seems to be a combination of Xylocaine, Adrenalin, and Pontocaine (or lidocaine, epinephrine, and tetracaine LET) viscous that they use for pediatric topical anesthesia for lacerations etc.  After the one doc spelled it for me, I started using XAP. I think it may be something that the pharmacy makes up for them.
