I personally would type it as re-tore...i think some docs just make up words as they go

That's what I was taught:
Most compounds made with the following prefixes are not hyphenated and no space:

anti, co, de, hyer, hyoo, infra, intra, macro, NON, pre, pseudo, re, semi, sub, supra, trans, un.

I have been having trouble with hyphens lately. I usually have typed small-bowel disease. Now I get small bowel Crohn's disease and think that there should be no hyphen because it precedes an adjative and not a noun. Is this correct? Thanks all.

I spent a load of money getting trained for MT and I STILL  am not sure about this.  What do the experienced MTs think??
