what criticism are you talking about? Because the only criticism in this thread is about the "not a mind reader" remark which was way off base.

K  -- when the doc dicates the patient is a 1-year-old though 10-year-old should the ages be typed out or Arabic numerals?  I believe BOS says the above -- however QA for the new company says "typed out"   --- grrr

for years i've been using low-back pain as a pain of the low back

just like i've been using small-bowel disease as a disease of the small bowel

i figured that the "low" and the "small" refer to the "back" and the "bowel," respectively, but i'm so open to the reasoning why it should not be hyphenated....

since they're terms i use every single day, i would really appreciate clarification....

thanks!

I also do plastic/reconstructive surgery reports and am wondering about these words as well, i.e. if okay combined or not:

back lift    arm lift    thigh lift   neck lift

I know that browlift is okay

thank you

means that the physician "made up" the word to indicate something else. The word apneic does exist. Been doing sleep clinic transcription and former chairman of American Sleep Medicine Society (or whatever the organization's name is) was in my account and she says that word a lot of times. The usage of apneic in this instance though does not seem to jive with the whole statement.

Hey Patty.....
Subject: Hey Patty.....

I would send you a cute little symbol or happyface, or something, but unfortunately I'm so computer-illiterate that I don't know how to do any of that (oh, I just noticed that I can click on the faces at the bottom!) - been doing transcription for over 20 years and still don't know how to use a computer - go figure!!  I need to take a course one of these days.
Thank you, Patty!
