Subject: this reminded me

For some reason this reminded of something that happened years ago when I worked at the main switchboard of a large hospital. It was a late one weekend night when there weren't many visitors around but plenty of employees who hear the pages all over the hospital. Well, it was just me and my co-worker covering the phones and some employee got mischevious and called with a request for her to page someone. We had strict rules about paging and you could only page employees overhead unless it was an emergency and then you were only allowed to repeat their name 3 times. You were not allowed to state what phone number for the person to call...just their name. All employees and doctors knew that if they heard their name overhead paged 3 times to call the switchboard immediately for further information. So.......I was on another call and wasn't really paying attention to her call until I heard what she paged. She reached for the intercom and very professionally said, "Anita Mann, Anita Mann, Anita Mann". After the first "Anita Mann" I started waving my arms wildly at her trying to stop her but she turned her back to me so she could finish. We were always trying to make each other laugh when we paged overhead because that was a no-no. We were supposed to sound very dry and professional on overhead pages. She was mad at me thinking I was trying to get her to giggle when in fact I was trying to help her. I could not stop laughing. When she realized what she had done, boy was she mad!!! The phones started lighting up like crazy--all the employees were offering to find her a man. I still get tickled remembering it to this day!
