100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.

what's not to believe - I said that I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days AND DO NOT MAKE - sm
I DO NOT MAKE $100,000/YEAR

try READING the post.
$35/hour x five 10-hour days = $1,750 gross/week.

Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm

Can someone explain the "paid per hour" shifts sm

at Transcend?  Would like a little insight before applying.  TIA

Hourly Positions paying $12-$15/hr are: Full-time 3rd shift Acute Care MTs and Full-time 3rd shift Medical Text Editors for a voice recognition platform (100% text editing)

I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
CAn you explain why my reports had a Ŕ" (that is zero) line count?
CAn you explain why my reports had a "0" (that is zero) line count?

It is because they take off for templates. If you dont use the templates are you are required to delete them, but you also delete your line count because they still took off for the template.

I had several reports that had a 0 line count. I notified them several times and they said there was nothing that could be done about it.

They did reimberse me when I told them about it, but how many other MTs that typed on that same account got shafted? I was told that I was the only one that had that problem, but it was not so. I checked. It was just that I was the only one that thought to check on it.

I think it is $12/hr and it was 4 hours + 1 hour training, 2 days. nm.

It's hard to explain. We got a certain line count reading
on the hospital system, which is what we thought we were paid for. Then, we were told not to use that number, but to go to the site in which TT counts the lines, and the money was considerably less. We never knew how they figured the lines or why it was lower. I tried to work harder to make up for it but the work kept disappearing during my shift, so I tried to work late at night but it became too difficult to make up for the lost line count, and also to make up for no work.
They are paid by the line, not the hour. nm
x
Are they paying by the line or the hour?
How much?
Paying by the line or by the hour
If they are not paying you by the hour, but BY THE LINE, it is actually none of their business when you take breaks as long as you meet TAT.  That is a problem I am perceiving with some of these places:  expecting you to sit at your computer for a fixed amount of hours EVEN IF THERE IS NO WORK.
What about line counts? What do you average an hour?
x
Or you're paid by the hour/not line
Or, you are paid by the hour/not line.
Companies With No Line/Hour Commitment
Anyone know of companies that do not require a certain number of lines/hours per day or pay period.  I'm looking for a company that just needs help without a commitment.....maybe overflow, p.r.n. or fill-in work.   I work outside the home during the day and I recently had to give up a great company because of the daily line count.  Thanks!
Has anyone seen a line increase in the last 2 days?

Interesting, working the same but lines have increased by about 200 per day.

8.5-9 means cents per line, not dollars per hour. nm
x
even if you are only doing 1400 lines a day at 8 cents a line that is still $15 an hour...

How many jobs are you going to get outside of the home making $15 an hour, especially in this economy and most parts of the country?  That is only 175 lines an hour and most nationals expect at least 150 an hour, so that is not that much of a push.  If you do 200 lines an hour, or 1600 lines a day, look at the raise and that is $16 an hour.  This is also only making 8 cents a line, which by the time you are making over 1300 lines a day you probably are getting some sort of incentive, at least a lot of companies you do, and that would push this number up even more.

I used to be a graphic designer for many years and to this day pay for a good designer is only $12 to $14 an hour and you have to commute to the job, so how is it not realistic to make this type of money.  I do not see where your logic is and if you are making so bad then maybe it is time to re-look at your profession and find something that is more a fit to you and make the money you deserve.  I just do not see how making a minimum of $14 an hour is so unrealistic.  Geez.

High line rate versus possible lines per hour....

I'd like your opinions...  I think it's more important to be able to produce a high line count than what your actual cents per line rate is.  $0.10/line means nothing to me if I have to struggle to produce 200 lines per hour because of their format or platform.  I'd rather make $0.07/line if I can count on producing 500 lines per hour.

Just something to think about when you interview with a potential employer who tries to dazzle you with a high line rate.  I always ask about the average line counts and if they have auto-populated headings.  We don't get paid for auto-populated headings (which can make a significant difference in our line counts), yet I'm sure the service bills the hospital for them.

Thanks; that's what I thought. I do over 160 some days. I was feeling "slighted" line cou
n
It's 6cpl gross line and raise after 3 days.. better than nothing. ;) nm
nm
Pay is good, platform very easy. Got line count within days. (sm)
The people you work with/for are extremely helpful. There is an incentive plan which they will explain to you during interview process. No 401 match - that is a bummer. First year PTO only a few days, but picks up the next year.

Apply and have the recruiter go over it all with you. It is well worth the time.

Good luck.
"chuckle" raise in 3 days, not to their bottom line advantage is it.
Hey gooble up this one if you like. Not me!!! I could understand if hourly, but we are not. WE are the one who lose already, learning there program, acct spec, formats, the various QA preferences, learn/get an ear for each dictator. We LOSE BIG TIME because it takes time for all that above stuff, we cannot just sit down and zoom off. Hey but grab IT see how the attitude is toward MT with 6 cents offer, it says something ya know.
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
Good & bad posts in the past. Must work 1 Sat. a month. Supposed to be gross line pay. Some days

think, people! If she does 250 lines/hour, same docs daily, will make $15/hour
nm
$20 an hour is not even average for radiology. You should not make less than $25-30 per hour. sm
I work for Keystrokes and have for 3 years. I average 25 reports an hour, which is $31.25 an hour. I have 401, health insurance, direct deposit, life insurance. My lead tells me I'm wonderful when I talk to her, but I do not need a daily pat on the back.

I also have a good friend who works for them on a clinic. She only makes 0.08 per line but does 300 lines an hour, which is $24 an hour, again higher than your $20.

I don't think we're selling ourselves short. There are companies out there that are good to work for, 6 or 8 of them that I know of personally. Don't settle for $20 an hour.
You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
Well if I could do 500 lines per hour, I would be making 35.00 an hour. sm
nothing to sneeze at. More than fair for having a 2-year degree. Come on people, we are all acting like we expect 6-digit incomes! Whatev!
Bad folks
BReitner totally sucks!  Very unprofessional people that have not paid other MTs in the past.  Beware!
IC folks

Okay all of you IC folks quick question.  Do you like the flexibility of IC work?  Do you think being an employee is better or about the same?  Do you think you can make more money being IC as they are smaller companies than the big corporate giants we all know too well.  Just wanted some fast feed back on the life of being an IC.

That's all, Folks!
Only a card and they send the same card every year. Go figure!!!!!
To all you TT folks
Sounds like your management has been reading the MQ posts and they have decided why not? If MQ can get away with it....
MDI folks
I am so jealous of all you MDI employees. You are so fortunate to be working for what is obviously one of the few good apples left in the bunch. It sounds like they truly care about their employees and I'm sure it will pay off for them in the long run. Sounds like some smart management! Wish some of these other companies would get wise to that kind of thinking. Taking care of the backbone of the company, the MTs is only going to be more profitable in the long run, but too many of them are short-sighted these days. I'm betting it wouldn't do much good to apply to MDI right now!
mdi folks

I see at least 6 different MDI posters here; anyone want to share FB pages?  It would be kind of nice to have a 'network' to ask direct questions to...

she is just trying to tell folks of her sm
experience so that any potential MTs wanting to work for them can keep their eyes open! I adn a lot of other MTs are glad folks post their experiences. That is what this board is for.

I agree working for MQ has nothing to do with it. Many of us made our living at MQ for many years before they got really bad.

Landmark has always had a good reputation, but they could be beginning to start getting bad too. Don't flame somebody just trying to post their experiences.
These folks are probably from another sm
country. I have heard folks from alot of the European countries talk like this. When you see ads like that it is a good indication that the person is not from America originally.
Uh huh, and there it is, folks....
Found what I was looking for:

The Company’s income before income taxes has improved in 2006, 2007 and 2008 due in large part to improved customer retention combined with new sales, increased use of speech recognition technology and INCREASED USE OF OFFSHORE TRANSCRIPTION PARTNERS.

I'm with that other poster. Transcend will either merge with or be purchased by CBay within the next 18-24 months.

I'm outta here.

MDI - Kiss my backside.

Rant: Why do you folks keep doing this
Ugggh. WHY say something like blah blah blah heartache, I'd say no to them. What is wrong with you people. Please say what you mean or say nothing at all.

For heaven's sake!
For my sake!
For everybody's sake!
I see some QA/MT folks do become recruiters from

thread below.  Does anyone know how to break into this?  I believe I would be very good at this and I don't believe I have ever seen any ads for recruiters.

If I have never seen any ads, how do some of the recruiters who have been/are MTs/QA manage to find the positions that they do in order to allow them to change companies when some of us have never seen an ad to allow us to even enter that end of the field?

I would love to know because I think it would be very interesting.

Would you recommend just to start emailing all companies or calling them, or do you think it would be a waste of time?

So what happened to all the new KS folks?
There were a bunch of posts in the last couple of weeks about it being a great company, new accounts, etc... Where are yall now that started with them?
Different strokes for different folks.
Of course I realize that no two people are alike, and no two experiences are the same, but I love it at Fast Chart. The platform is really, really easy to use, they don't bother you EVER once you're off QA, and lines are easy to get. I've worked for some crappy companies in the past, and I love Fast Chart! Email me for details if you need to know more.
DSG folks - is your platform up and
running?  I saw earlier today on the MQ board where DSG's DQS system was also down.  Ours still isn't working right and just wanted to see if it's just us or are you guys still down, too?
Off Shore Folks
Last quote we got from an Indian company --- they were up to 7cpl for 24 hour TAT and 8cpl for 24 hour TAT. I suspect what with the continued decline of the value of the dollar, along with the concomitant raise in standard of living in India, this is an issue/problem which may be resolving itself.

Yes, some of the damage already done, but markets have a way of correcting themselves.

DIfferent strokes for different folks
I agree with you completely. I am happy as can be at TT. I also took 8.5 cpl after making 0.975 for years. That was the only thing about TT that made me hesitate, but glad I jumped the big Q ship anyway. My income is what it was before all the cesspool and ASR mess there. I am not miserable anymore. Now to some people money is the bottom line. They don't need to feel appreciated. I had a major family crisis after being with TT for only a month. They could not have been nicer about it. I could go on and on, but I won't. I could have written your post. Been an MT for 20+ years, have never worked for nicer people. It works for me, but maybe not for others. I just hope everybody finds what they need in a company. Have a blessed day everyone!
Yes currently. Great folks. nm
//
TTer - and other TT folks......
I am curious:

1. What is TT?
2. Are they hiring?
3. Do they pay decent cpl rates?
4. Are they flexible as far as work hours?
5. Do they use a platform and if so what platform(s) do they use?

TIA - feel free to email me.

To the "get a job" folks
Many of the jobs are for acute care MTs, I would say the majority are. Perhaps the OP is not an acute care MT. If you are not acute care your options seem to be limited.
Honest Folks
Hmm, don't forget to vent on all your police officers, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, airline pilots and other union members about how lazy and dishonest they all are.
Truly trying to help you upset folks
If you want to leave Transtech because of the VR issue you should be able to EASILY get hired ASAP by OSi in Douglasville, Georgia, or Focus but I think Focus does mainly VR.  OSI always has a huge backlog and they don't do just VR.  They also provide computers for full time.  The links are www.ositranscription.com and www.focusinfomatics.com.  These companies are always hiring.
that is your choice. Some folks sm
might not mind doing this. She was just asking if it was legal not asking for all the flack.
