of coure a company asks about previous employment

Posted By: and spheris has work on 2007-04-01
In Reply to: You really need a lot of experience to work for - Spheris even though they may hire new grads.

there is a reason why they asked about your previous employment, and it has nothing do to with bait and switch.

My previous post was verbatim from the company when I inquired at employment. Maybe (sm)
they tell everyone something different, like what they THINK they want to hear.....Guess I should have put it in quotes.
Someone asks about this company about every other day, little to
no info.
Our company asks if at all possible
we just work a couple of hours, which for me is not a big deal except for Christmas, when I go out of town.
My company asks for volunteers.
My company only has IC status so there is no requirement to work holidays. They send an e-mail the week before and ask for volunteers. I've only volunteered for one in the long time that I've been there and they've never tried to pressure me into working.
Someone asks about this company weekly. Lots of
info available.
Has anyone ever gone back to work for a previous company?

I was just wondering if any of you out there had ever gone back to work for a company that you had worke at before.  What was your experience in doing so?  Is it worth looking into?

Thanks for any help.

Judging from previous posts they are a horrible company.
THey offshore big time.  If you'll search the archives you'll find lots on them.
Rapid Transcript, Inc- Does anyone have any recent info on this company...current/previous employees
I am wondering about anyone who has recently or is currently working for this company...any input is appreciated. There is some Bad talk about non-payment in the search archives from 2003-2004, but no recent talk. Just curious. :)
Someone asks about them every so often and there are
posts in the archives about them.  There has been a problem in the past with them paying on-time.   I was offered a position with them but they didn't pay squat.   I received a postcard from them last week about openings.
Look in the archives. Seems someone asks
this question about once a month.
If the EMR asks questions, and all they have to
and since VR is already in the picture, you'd think they'd just come up with an EMR that they just say 'yes' or 'no' into. Unless they have that already.

Of course, if that comes about, then they'll want US to edit it, for .000005 cpl.
Read the archives. Someone asks about them
almost daily.
I have a standard response to that when someone asks me why they have to do that. sm
I work for another MTSO and have worked for 2 others in the past; all have required paperwork faxed out. It is quicker and more reliable than snail mail.

My response is --- if you are complaining this early in your employment, you will probably find something to complain about daily. There are alternatives to faxing, and the main 2 are: You can mail the paperwork back to me; however, I will only hold the job for 24 hours OR you can drive here and hand it to me, which is definitely more expensive than faxing AND you have to deal with traffic in LA.

A fax machine costs $25 now. An all-in-one printer is not much more and you can print pictures on one too!
anything or any place that asks for money--sm
even to do a *background check* is not legit. Besides that, 55 dollars seems ridiculously high for that type of check, when one can do a check themselves through various sites for 14.00. Rip off. sorry you got scammed.
who asks for other employee rate?, nobody.
.
Above post asks do you get paid for your TIME to
x
A good recruiter asks all the specifics and can hope they are given
all the information. You are right too about good recruiters being MTs because they know what to really do and how an MT thinks.
and before anyone asks, I am not a suck up and I am not mgmt. I am an MT who needs insurance becaus
my husband losing his job last year and his new company having an outrageously high plan.
When I click on self service it brings up "HEAT" and asks me for a logn and password
my Q-net login doesn't work here. Is this something you had to get preapproved or sign up for separately somehow?
Excuse me, but yes she did. The OP's very last line posted by anony asks "do they pay spaces?&
Someone probably needs more coffee this morning but it isn't me. All I did was make a simple comment and this is what I get. It's no wonder a lot of us don't post more often as we get flamed for everything we say.
Previous employee
The pay is HORRIBLE!!!!
previous message said, you have

to go their to train, etc.

I should have said, you have to go there to train, etc.  I think that is what the sheesh was about.

I did for about a day at one of my previous jobs. sm
My employer insisted on having it installed even though I already had cable internet.  It was SO slow, unbelievably slow.  I had to wait for the typing to catch up.  If it's the only thing you can get, that's one thing -- but if you can get DSL or cable, don't do ISDN.  A couple girls at my previous job still have it out of necessity, but I hated it.
Previous employee
I did not like it at all. I did not like their supervisor. She was always on vacation taking cruises, etc. I do not like MT World software. I also do not like typing pools.
Previous employee!

Is there any possible way we can corresponsd via email?

This is exactly what a previous poster was
talking about.  These companies hold the contract over your head as use them as a scare tactic.  Most of us are doing this to make money to pay bills, help our kids, etc. and I'll be damned if they are going to dictate to me how much money I can make when an opportunity comes along to work part time with more money.

Attention to administrator..  Please remove my full name from the post I just put up.  It should only have the initials JMD rather than a full name
previous post
Thanks for the info. !
Did you have previous insurance before? sm
Maybe I am not understanding, but I just got Blue Cross and they tried the 12 month wait on me too and would not cover a scan.  When they found out I had no lapse in coverage with my previous insurance that I had before starting with them then they dropped the 12 month wait on me.  So I am wondering if you had insurance up until before you got Blue Cross and if this would apply to you.
Previous post

It is CMTI or Certified Medical Transcription Inc out of Florida  -- sorry I omitted, but was really tired last night due to the heat here.

And according to previous employees .... sm
That is if you are lucky enough to actually receive a pay check from the company for work completed.
might as well stay at your previous job
I ran out of work on my third day here. I'm extremely disappointed. I left my last job due to lack of work, and then I come here with high hopes and poof - I run out of work. I may see about returning to my previous employer.
previous email
There was a previous email by the owner earlier this summer in which she said May was the lightest month of dictation in probably the history of the company. I'm assuming other months recently have been light, too (economy?, split contracts with another company?), but it would be appreciated to have that addressed directly.
Um, that's exactly what was said in the previous post. nm
xxxxxxxxxxx
I never see an ad for employment with them.
nm
Don't you have to pay self-employment tax? Isn't that the same as SS? nm
x
You may not be able to get employment if you are

fired either.   The company has a say in what happened and can dispute any claim.  I would think they you could not get employment based on you resign or else and I think they are being very generous in giving you that option.   If you quit I don't think you stand a chance of getting unemployment.

I wouldn't worry about using Spheris for a reference, doesn't sound like they would give you a good reference even if you resign.  If you haven't been there long just leave them off your resume and say you took some time off.  I don't think the resume has as much to do with your hiring as it is how you do on testing.

employment
Are they still hiring and how is their pay rate?
For employment, what else would you ask?
I've pasted all the questions I think I would like to know from a prospective employer. If you can think of other questions I need to ask, or a better way to ask the question, please let me know! I realize some of these questions will not get answers and some are probably not palatable by employers, but if I don't ask, I won't know and on a more personal basis, I'm tired of getting $crewed down the line.

OSi employment
Why don't you just give them a call?  I have worked there going on 2 years now and I see other MTs complaining of not getting paid, not getting work, slow networking, etc.  I have not run across these issues with OSi.   I get work every day, I get paid every pay day.  I get answers to questions and I don't get micromanaged.  Communication has been good.  I am not related to anyone there and don't know anyone there, just sign in and work.  OSi makes the qualifications very clear and it is not impossible to make the required lines.  Good luck.
considering employment
would like info that would be helpful in deciding whether to accept.
for employment
As in who offers the best pay, benefits, incentives, vacation, bonuses?
OSi employment
I have been with OSi for 3 years now.  Some days the work is low, and some days there is OT available, but, that doesn't look any different to me than what I read on this site.  I agreed on a schedule which has been maintained for 3 years now.  I get paid on time and sometimes early.  There are lots of e-mails which can be deleted in a heart beat.  When there are problems I am notified of them.  Otherwise, just work, get paid, get annual raises.  That's what I expect from a job, and that's what I get.  Good luck in your search.
employment
I need someone to tell me what is better, contractor or employee.
Sorry. Mean to sent previous question to respondent below.
Sorry about that
How bizarre! Vianeta was the previous sm
platform used by my employer.  I actually liked it.  There were some days when it was slow, but overall I would not be afraid to use it.  Different companies use it, so it must be tweaked for the individual companies I would imagine.
From multiple previous posts there is no
set line rate, several variables involved, but most say it is very hard to get lines and pay is low.
you can search previous posts, sm
no complaints here, but some people have had problems, work is there, pay is on time, they pay downtime if work does run out, insurance is good BCBS
If you check my previous posts...
I did explain my experience with them.
Previous posts were deleted (sm)
They were NOT talking about the resumes being fake.  Some earlier posts had said they would post some names of applicants for you to ask them what the name of their company was because they weren't revealing their identity.  They did list a few names but the post containing the names was soon deleted.  So, they were weren't meaning the resumes were fake, they meant that they had listed fake names.
any previous or current MRC-MD employees here? sm

Can you give my any pros or cons? Is platform productive? Plenty of work? Alot of ESLs? Are they nice people to work for? thanks
