A good recruiter asks all the specifics and can hope they are given

all the information. You are right too about good recruiters being MTs because they know what to really do and how an MT thinks.

Good vs. Bad Recruiter....
Had a recruiter today from one of the big nationals try to pressure me into divulging the name of the hospital system I transcribe for during a telephone interview. (I work for another national). Needless to say, I didn't get an offer probably because I wouldn't budge with that info. Wondering how ethical that is...hmmmmm.....
One good recruiter is all a co needs. That one
recruiter has a lot to do but generally most companies unless really large do not need more than one. People complain about not getting responses but recruiters are pretty busy and that's what they get paid for. I know several recruiters and all stay fully busy but if a co had two or more they would not have enough work for each one. Many people are just testing the waters but if you seriously need a job then you should contact a recruiter by phone.
yes, but i believe a good recruiter
and MDI's IS, would find out the answers for potential new-hires if they don't know them. That's just my opinion/experience.
Good for you. Just hope you didn't
displace a former MT who worked for the transcription company.  A friend of mine is an MT with a national and is in a situation where her company hired the former Transcriptionist of the client/customer and she's losing her account because of it because they're bending over backwards to keep the former employee happy and my friend is very upset about the preferential treatment this new MT is receiving.
hope you get in with them.. good luck

Thanks - you have a good day too, and hope we have lots
of work to make our line counts!
Good luck, but I sure hope sm
they are truly giving a good representation of the kind of work they offer during the trial.  You wouldn't believe what we get and I'm not talking about a tiny minority of the work.  MOST of it is ESL, bad audio.
Good luck and I hope you get your money!! nm

A Prayer for all MTs-Hope this starts out a good day for all
Bless all MTs this day, Dear Lord, and grant us work to do. Guide us in need to jobs with those who are really fair and true. Give us strength mind, body and spirit to pursue work which helps the human race; a profession that though behind the scenes, supports the health care pace. And keep us from discouragement when days are not so fine; remind the docs we listen to that humans are on the end of their line. And bless our hands, ears, eyes and hearts; on them pour out your care. But most of all, Lord, bless this board where we gather just to share.
Sorry you had a bad time with them. Hope you found a good fit elsewhere. nm

Good luck June I hope to be out
of there soon also.  There's no way you can make a living there with this company.   Good luck.
I hope you have found a good position. nm

Good for you and hope you get started on a new position soon
Great for you! I hope you don't miss much money waiting for the new job to start... but to validate you, here is a true conversation I had with my doctor... I was talking about my company going VR and my stress level (the meeting with doc was about improving stress for health reasons). I said that I knew no matter how fast I could type, with my personal need to have great QA, always wanting to send great reports, that I could not afford to go VR. I did not explain further. He totally understood. He told me that for a while he typed his own notes into his system. Then, he had a trial of VR and he had to edit the VR and it was a disaster!!! He said he could write/type faster than he could correct, and too many errors came up. He said among his colleagues the other docs, they really don't care of we do traditional or VR, they just want great work, and if VR does not provide it they, the docs, will go elsewhere (to another vendor) for their service. He said that he understood that we get paid half or less and that would be silly. He suggested to either hang in there with my VR job while finding a straight transcribing job and have no problem saying bye bye to my present VR job no matter how wonderful the company is! He said eventually if all MTs (even the ones in India, as he is from India himself) leave for lack of pay and ability to pay bills, and certainly when the docs get poor work and demand a better provider of transcription, the companies will soon switch back to the traditional way of typing, or pay us a lot more for correct the VR (it takes more time to do, he admits). Bottom line is, the docs will not put up with poor quality b/c they are responsible for patient care. So, he told me to hang in there. If I can't pay bills, go to straight transcription, go back to school and get funding, etc. He said he promises that it will come back to our skills and we will have to be paid for what our knowledge is worth as we always have. Finally doc said, Docs don't care how it is done, as long as it is done right. If it is not done right, they will demand it be done right and that is good for the MT. Sorry for the long post but this is a true story directly from the doctor, as he has first-hand experience. Thanks for reading such a long post, hope it helps, and good luck to you and all MTs who refuse to put up with this treatment!
good story, and I hope so with that pendulum, but - sm
right now, my mind frame says shoulda trapped and married that naughty physician and kicked this profession in the perverbial pratt.

50/50 California divorce works for me. lol

Good thing you are just a recruiter - definitely not a speller - LOL

I honestly hope you will have a good experience with Keystrokes

I'm sure that not all the supervisors were as hyper as the one I had - she drove me crazy, wanting me to work practically 24/7. The last couple of months I was there, during a 63-day period, I only had 3 real days off where I didn't work at least a couple of hours which ended up turning into five or six. Add that to working 10-12 hours during my 8-hour work days, and I just plain got burnt out.

But that was only one particular client (if you would like the name, please email me). I am sure there were other clients that she could have given me, but she kept assuring me that this was the best client she had.

So I would just say make sure your lead is 1) looking out foryou and 2) telling you the truth (the third time I caught mine in a lie, I quit).

Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound good. I hope you
nm
Good for you. I hope you share your positive feelings
towards that company on this board then. People are only stating their opinions. If they have a bad one, that's their choice. All you can do is share your opinion that's good. However, if you don't share that opinion and simply jump on to tell everyone else to stop complaining, you're really not helping things.
Good luck with your new job! Hope it works out great! nm

Thank you so much for responding. Good luck to you. I hope they call me.
nm
Well, I HOPE they're a good place to work...
... since I worked for TRS and thus got acquired by Transcend when TRS did.

Interestingly... when I was job-hunting about 7 months ago, I basically read every entry in the MT Companies section of another forum (M T Chat)looking for companies that got good reviews. Because it got very good reviews there, Transcend was the second-to-last company I applied to, just before TRS. At that time, Transcend was only testing for acute care (my 36 years of clinical in multiple specialties wasn't good enough, I guess) so they told me no thanks. And now they've got me anyway.

I am still reserving judgment because the merger only happened 2 weeks ago; and I am still working on my same accounts, under the same supervisors, on the same platform, so there have been no visible changes as yet....
P.S. If the good your talking about hearing was on here, then no doubt it was the recruiter

pretending to be a MT singing CIT's praises. I caught her doing this and it blew all of their credibility. I found it extremely strange.

Hasty and Recruiter does not a good combo make!
Many are bad enough when they aren't hasty, with the evasive answers, with us getting a reality check from what we were promised and what really is once we've committed ourselves to the company. I wouldn't take the job myself. I don't trust a hasty recruiter. Something sounds fishy. A more reasonable answer would be that he/she would get back to you with answers, not just skirting the topic. Not good. If the recruiter doesn't know the details of what they are recruiting for, that's not the sign of them representing a good company.
Sorry to hear that because that was a good account with great normals. Hope
you find a new home where you will be appreciated and with good line counts!
Good luck to you. Hope they are lenient with the benefits with all the low work. nm

Someone asks about them every so often and there are
posts in the archives about them.  There has been a problem in the past with them paying on-time.   I was offered a position with them but they didn't pay squat.   I received a postcard from them last week about openings.
Someone asks about this company about every other day, little to
no info.
Look in the archives. Seems someone asks
this question about once a month.
Our company asks if at all possible
we just work a couple of hours, which for me is not a big deal except for Christmas, when I go out of town.
If the EMR asks questions, and all they have to
and since VR is already in the picture, you'd think they'd just come up with an EMR that they just say 'yes' or 'no' into. Unless they have that already.

Of course, if that comes about, then they'll want US to edit it, for .000005 cpl.
Read the archives. Someone asks about them
almost daily.
I have a standard response to that when someone asks me why they have to do that. sm
I work for another MTSO and have worked for 2 others in the past; all have required paperwork faxed out. It is quicker and more reliable than snail mail.

My response is --- if you are complaining this early in your employment, you will probably find something to complain about daily. There are alternatives to faxing, and the main 2 are: You can mail the paperwork back to me; however, I will only hold the job for 24 hours OR you can drive here and hand it to me, which is definitely more expensive than faxing AND you have to deal with traffic in LA.

A fax machine costs $25 now. An all-in-one printer is not much more and you can print pictures on one too!
My company asks for volunteers.
My company only has IC status so there is no requirement to work holidays. They send an e-mail the week before and ask for volunteers. I've only volunteered for one in the long time that I've been there and they've never tried to pressure me into working.
anything or any place that asks for money--sm
even to do a *background check* is not legit. Besides that, 55 dollars seems ridiculously high for that type of check, when one can do a check themselves through various sites for 14.00. Rip off. sorry you got scammed.
who asks for other employee rate?, nobody.

my husband losing his job last year and his new company having an outrageously high plan.
When I click on self service it brings up "HEAT" and asks me for a logn and password
my Q-net login doesn't work here. Is this something you had to get preapproved or sign up for separately somehow?
Excuse me, but yes she did. The OP's very last line posted by anony asks "do they pay spaces?&
Someone probably needs more coffee this morning but it isn't me. All I did was make a simple comment and this is what I get. It's no wonder a lot of us don't post more often as we get flamed for everything we say.
specifics
I was interested in learning what experiences other transcriptionists may have had with this company, i.e. rate of pay, platform, problems anyone may have had. I've been with another company and I need to find something that I am not working so many different accounts that I can't make decent money.
What specifics do you want to know? sm

There is plenty for work right now.  Pay is direct deposit for IC and employee.  Line count pay varies according to account and type of work you type as well as time of day.  Can't remember the specifics.

I work as an IC, and for now I need whatever income I can get.  It suits my needs just fine.

Specifics
Okay, I was hired twice by this company. The first time she wanted someone to start yesterday and offered me 9 cpl and spent time loading their program onto my computer, and then......nothing for several days. No files, no response to my emails, nothing. This went on for a week and I was offered a full-time position at the company I was with at the time. I took that and emailed the owner of VS,LLC and was told they made promises based off of my commitment and they had been waiting for me to contact them and let them know when I could get started. They were wondering why they had never heard from me. Well I am not an idiot I had emailed them and been very specific on the phone with them about wanting to start immediately. I had even emailed them with outlook and attached a read reciept and had been notified that they had read it. When I pointed this out to her, she suddenly had all my emails that she supposedly never got and kept emailing me begging me to work starting right then. When I explained that I had already started full-time with my current company I got a somewhat nasty email that I just thought was more frustration than anything. Well fast forward a year and a half.... I was used to my full-time now and looking to add part-time for savings and extra. I saw VS's ad and thought it might be worth a try again. Well the pay had gone down to 8 cpl. Not what I was looking for, but better than average anymore. Went through all the steps again. Emailed about setting up training again with read reciepts, everything this time was with read reciepts. Well again with the we need someone to get started right away so hurry up and wait. 4 days I waited and emailed and waited. Well, I had also applied for other positions and the 4th day I had been offered one of the other positions I had applied for. I email the owner of VS this and that if she cannot get me trained and started then I must move on as she had told me she would start me immediately. I had in fact cancelled a weekend out of town with my family because I was supposed to train immediately. I heard nothing for a day and a half and had received the read reciept, so I know she got it. Then I get an email saying they had not received any of my emails. I send back that I had read reciepts on everyone of my emails. All of a sudden she is sending replies to me from the emails that she supposedly had never received. Then she tells me how she had tried, and tried all day Saturday trying to call me and never answered and asking me if I knew how to even use the telephone! Seriously! I told her nice try as I had been at home all weekend waiting for her call and still had the calls on my caller ID from the whole week before and not one call from her, imagine that. Well I told her that obviously it was not meant for us to work together and that I could not work like this. I mean if this was the way it was before I got started imagine how it would be after I got started. I received several more extremely rude emails from her before I finally had to email her telling her to stop and that I was blocking her email. I mean how unprofessional! I was here and more than ready and willing and able to get started and even sacrificed a weekend with my family to get started/going right away.

Now having said all that, I know a lot of people have a lot of negative things to say about DSG and I had an absolutely wonderful, and I mean wonderful experience with DSG for 4 years. I only left due to health reasons and lack of ability to be dependable until I could get my health taken care of, which I did and am all better now and have been for a couple of years. So maybe if you get started with VS, LLC it is good. Maybe you will not have the experience I had. There are previous posts about VS,LLC not paying and I had decided in for myself to try anyway, so it is up to you. Just go in prepared for anything (as you should with any company) if you decide to go ahead. Good luck in your choice it sure is hard these days to sift through everything. I would not have taken the chance based off of old posts with VS,LLC if it had not always been a part-time thing for me. I mean if I was looking for a bread and butter company I could not afford to take the chance of not being paid. I hope this helps:)
Yes they do although each account has its own specifics.
