    They are the worst company ever! They are as incompetent as ever too. I quit working there 6 months ago to go with another company, and I am STILL getting late night phone calls asking me why I am not working! I got a call just this past Saturday night around 10 PM desperately looking for someone to work on the account that I used to be on. This was the 3rd or 4th call that I had gotten from them in about a weeks' time. I keep telling them that I haven't worked there in 6 months, but they just don't get it! Sometimes it is the same person who calls me over and over! I am seriously contemplating changing my phone number because of them. I hope they pay you all of your leave time! They never paid me mine when I quit, and I had about 2 weeks worth. Oh well.

    Those that have come from reputable schools have the reference books they need when they start out and know how to use them. When I was a newbie a couple years ago fresh out of M-TEC, I was off QA within a month. I have never received a QA score lower than a 98%. That's because I know how to use my references, take the time to do it, and leave a blank rather than guess. Not all newbies are naive enough to think the internet is reliable or are too cheap to invest in a good reference library.

    Just because you have had an increase doesn't mean everyone will, and calling those that didn't have your experience stupid just shows your ignorance on the matter.  It doesn't matter what percentage they give you for editing in the long run because if there is no production you're still taking a loss.  What part of that don't you understand?  If a person is experiencing the platform freezing up, timing out, crackling and buzzing, all while working with no expander, poor expander, no autotexts, or minimal hotkeys, it doesn't matter one iota if tTranscend paid 100% for editing, they're still losing money in their paycheck. If the work load is low even 100% of nothing is still nothing.  Your outlook is not only ignorant of others' problems, it's self-centered and narrow-minded.  You deserve to sit all by your happy little self with more work and wallow in the garbage they're dishing out because their reputation is not so well respected anymore.  You'll fit in perfectly.

    VR is not always bad, the bad is that the pay is much, much too low. It should pay the same as straight.

    Do you even have a clue as to how much one cycle of IVF costs? Try 15K to 20K and it takes on average three cycles to achieve conception...if at all. How many people do you know wait until they have $20,000.00 saved before starting a family? Get real.

    Not that it's any of your business, having a child was not a mental issue for me. I initially didn't feel that it would be necessary to share the details of what led up to our infertility because I didn't see the relevance. Infertility is what it is. However, if sharing the details will prevent you or anyone else from drawing conclusions and posting abrasive half-truths, then here goes:

    My husband, against my wishes, had a vasectomy when our only daughter was 3. Coming from a big family, I always wanted at least two children. Long story short: We went to Texas for the first reversal and Arizona for the 2nd (5 years ago). We spent our entire savings, which was close to 20k and both surgeries failed. My daughter prayed for a baby brother or sister every night. I had this tremendous burden of guilt because our infertility was self-inflicted. I knew she would never be a big sister or even an aunt because of our selfishness.

    Infertility in and of itself is traumatic enough, but when it's self-inflicted, the guilt can be overwhelming. At least it was for me.

    There, now you have the facts. However, if you find it more entertaining to post over-the-top fabrications about my complete lack of control and severe mental issues, as you called it, knock yourself out.

    I have been pretty honest about my personal life and would appreciate it if you could just answer 2 simple questions.

    (2) In your opinion, do you feel that insurance companies should cover the cost of elective abortions?

    If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.

    ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.

    Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!

    This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!

    Great qualities... absolutely. Can you be more specific. What type of communication do you think works? What doesn't? Concern is also important. But how far should it go. Certainly a company needs to be understanding if an MT has some problems, but remembering it is not the company's job to take care of someone, what about when the MT is not producing or working when scheduled? How long do you let it go on? What if the MT has chronic problems. What is the company's role here?

    I can say my boss was ALWAYS flexible with my schedule, but I also made sure that I made up the time and the lines. I didn't abuse it.

    Spheris' family insurance is with United Healthcare and the premium for family coverage is about $180 per payperiod (2-weeks).

    As far as PTO with Spheris, as a FT employee, you would earn 10 days a year for your first 5 years of service, then it goes up from there.

    I hope that gives you a guideline to go by.

    when I was in school, for MA, not MT, my instructor said the ones taking the MT class were just waisting their time. I worked as an MA until I got pregnant, then worked as an MT after my son was born. I'm gonna ride it out as long as it's available. Then, hopefully I won't be too old to do something else!

    They're securing new accounts all the time because they're a good company with a fair, honest owner and a wonderful support staff and QA, etc.

    I hear there are one or two bitter ex-employees out there who do nothing but trash the company, and it's totally unwarranted.

    I would contact my coordinator and ask. I think the system is set up only with and without ops, that's it. On the VA account I do, if any report is skipped, the MT is questioned. Melody sent out an email not too long ago about cherrypicking and I know management is now noting who is skipping what.
    Not sure if this is what you're trying to ask or not...
    OSi now has what used to MQs so I guess they just resent each other. I had a little of what OSi now has. I got paid very well for working on that difficult account. I won't work for them just because I can't see taking such a huge pay cut just to do the same crap I've been doing for years. I moved on. No reason for me to bash anybody. However, the complaints on this board definitely helped me make that decision and I'm so glad that people do speak out when they're not treated right by a company.
