Believe it or not, after 20 years of this business this is totally new to me, first time I'm seeing it.  It's being dictated quite often as a routine test in the ER and my books just did not have it and I couldn't find it in my abbreviation book or online.
Thanks for all the responses.

I did end up marking it for editing, but it should be interesting to find out what she said!

I ended up asking my boss and she said to do it DOE, M.D., John.  It was interesting seeing the other responses though.  I kind of prefer the look of DOE, John, M.D. for some reason but I see the logic of the other way.  Anyway, I guess it comes down to preference.  Thanks again!

I guess I just have to deal with this little bump in the road for this one doc.  The others I do not have to listen so loud.  Fortunately, I have some cool headphones that are very easy to just grab hold of the bottom around my chin, and pull down ever so slightly.  Oh, what we go through to keep them happy!  Love these guys though, they are so easy to get along with!  This is an older gentleman anyway that his voice goes up and down, but I can say he blew his nose (which I am very used to, been there, done that), but hubby had to peel me off the ceiling.  It was like mid sentence.... HONK!!!  HONK!!!!, wheweee.....  gotta luv 'em.....

He was very clear and did say pound. I also thought it sounded a bit much and wondered if anyone else had ever heard it. The patient had a rash all over her body, so he may have prescribed that large amount for that reason.

I have had to deal with rude respones, if people are going to respond rudely, I agree with you, just don't bother. I work for an ENT and have never heard the word you were looking for.

Thank you all for the responses.  My current job has converted to doing VR. There is no incentive program and we don't do line counting, so I have no idea what exactly my line rate would be.  I'm considering becoming an employee to a transcription service but IC is not out of the question for me.  I wonder if being an IC on a part-time basis may help gauge where I fall in my line count.

Just as people and the world have evolved, so has English. 'Were' would now be considered correct.

I do realize it's not the grammar rule we were taught back in our school days.

If you changed the wording to what you thought was correct, sm

it would imply that the colostomy bag was bleeding, not blood coming from the colostomy.

Subject: Cool. Used to do neuro, times have changed. :)

Tooooooooooo long ago. :)

I'll have to remember that in case I ever have the need to go back to neuro.  Not one of my favorites, kinda sad, but okay at the time.

When I said "cool" I really meant it.  I like to pass through word help occasionally.  You never know what you're going to find.

Every little bit helps.
