Good for you. Just hope you didn't

displace a former MT who worked for the transcription company.  A friend of mine is an MT with a national and is in a situation where her company hired the former Transcriptionist of the client/customer and she's losing her account because of it because they're bending over backwards to keep the former employee happy and my friend is very upset about the preferential treatment this new MT is receiving.

Hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did.....sm

they have a post on the job board.

Good luck !!

hope you get in with them.. good luck

Thanks - you have a good day too, and hope we have lots
of work to make our line counts!
Good luck, but I sure hope sm
they are truly giving a good representation of the kind of work they offer during the trial.  You wouldn't believe what we get and I'm not talking about a tiny minority of the work.  MOST of it is ESL, bad audio.
Good luck and I hope you get your money!! nm

A Prayer for all MTs-Hope this starts out a good day for all
Bless all MTs this day, Dear Lord, and grant us work to do. Guide us in need to jobs with those who are really fair and true. Give us strength mind, body and spirit to pursue work which helps the human race; a profession that though behind the scenes, supports the health care pace. And keep us from discouragement when days are not so fine; remind the docs we listen to that humans are on the end of their line. And bless our hands, ears, eyes and hearts; on them pour out your care. But most of all, Lord, bless this board where we gather just to share.
Sorry you had a bad time with them. Hope you found a good fit elsewhere. nm

I have been looking and hope to find a good 'home' soon! NM
oo
Good luck June I hope to be out
of there soon also.  There's no way you can make a living there with this company.   Good luck.
I hope you have found a good position. nm

Good for you and hope you get started on a new position soon
Great for you! I hope you don't miss much money waiting for the new job to start... but to validate you, here is a true conversation I had with my doctor... I was talking about my company going VR and my stress level (the meeting with doc was about improving stress for health reasons). I said that I knew no matter how fast I could type, with my personal need to have great QA, always wanting to send great reports, that I could not afford to go VR. I did not explain further. He totally understood. He told me that for a while he typed his own notes into his system. Then, he had a trial of VR and he had to edit the VR and it was a disaster!!! He said he could write/type faster than he could correct, and too many errors came up. He said among his colleagues the other docs, they really don't care of we do traditional or VR, they just want great work, and if VR does not provide it they, the docs, will go elsewhere (to another vendor) for their service. He said that he understood that we get paid half or less and that would be silly. He suggested to either hang in there with my VR job while finding a straight transcribing job and have no problem saying bye bye to my present VR job no matter how wonderful the company is! He said eventually if all MTs (even the ones in India, as he is from India himself) leave for lack of pay and ability to pay bills, and certainly when the docs get poor work and demand a better provider of transcription, the companies will soon switch back to the traditional way of typing, or pay us a lot more for correct the VR (it takes more time to do, he admits). Bottom line is, the docs will not put up with poor quality b/c they are responsible for patient care. So, he told me to hang in there. If I can't pay bills, go to straight transcription, go back to school and get funding, etc. He said he promises that it will come back to our skills and we will have to be paid for what our knowledge is worth as we always have. Finally doc said, Docs don't care how it is done, as long as it is done right. If it is not done right, they will demand it be done right and that is good for the MT. Sorry for the long post but this is a true story directly from the doctor, as he has first-hand experience. Thanks for reading such a long post, hope it helps, and good luck to you and all MTs who refuse to put up with this treatment!
good story, and I hope so with that pendulum, but - sm
right now, my mind frame says shoulda trapped and married that naughty physician and kicked this profession in the perverbial pratt.

50/50 California divorce works for me. lol

A good recruiter asks all the specifics and can hope they are given
all the information. You are right too about good recruiters being MTs because they know what to really do and how an MT thinks.
I honestly hope you will have a good experience with Keystrokes

I'm sure that not all the supervisors were as hyper as the one I had - she drove me crazy, wanting me to work practically 24/7. The last couple of months I was there, during a 63-day period, I only had 3 real days off where I didn't work at least a couple of hours which ended up turning into five or six. Add that to working 10-12 hours during my 8-hour work days, and I just plain got burnt out.

But that was only one particular client (if you would like the name, please email me). I am sure there were other clients that she could have given me, but she kept assuring me that this was the best client she had.

So I would just say make sure your lead is 1) looking out foryou and 2) telling you the truth (the third time I caught mine in a lie, I quit).

Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound good. I hope you
nm
Good for you. I hope you share your positive feelings
towards that company on this board then. People are only stating their opinions. If they have a bad one, that's their choice. All you can do is share your opinion that's good. However, if you don't share that opinion and simply jump on to tell everyone else to stop complaining, you're really not helping things.
Good luck with your new job! Hope it works out great! nm
x
Thank you so much for responding. Good luck to you. I hope they call me.
nm
Well, I HOPE they're a good place to work...
... since I worked for TRS and thus got acquired by Transcend when TRS did.

Interestingly... when I was job-hunting about 7 months ago, I basically read every entry in the MT Companies section of another forum (M T Chat)looking for companies that got good reviews. Because it got very good reviews there, Transcend was the second-to-last company I applied to, just before TRS. At that time, Transcend was only testing for acute care (my 36 years of clinical in multiple specialties wasn't good enough, I guess) so they told me no thanks. And now they've got me anyway.

I am still reserving judgment because the merger only happened 2 weeks ago; and I am still working on my same accounts, under the same supervisors, on the same platform, so there have been no visible changes as yet....
Sorry to hear that because that was a good account with great normals. Hope
you find a new home where you will be appreciated and with good line counts!
Good luck to you. Hope they are lenient with the benefits with all the low work. nm
.
Really?? I didn't know that! Good to know, thx. nm
nm
Oh, guess it is good I didn't then:)
nm
Good to know. Didn't know there was a base raise
//
I did and didn't have any trouble. Good luck!

Didn't Webmedx get good reviews here?
I was under the impression they were a-ok? Hmm...
i didn't find the communication to be good
well, it was as long as i said everything was rosey. Soon as things weren't so perfect, they became much less than friendly.
good idea...I agree...but didn't they have one once? nm
nm
Back in the days of YOG FN didn't have a good
name either.  Your post shows just how unprofessional FN is and surely does not entice anyone to apply with your company.  Even if what the person posted is not true, you could have chosen to take the high road, but instead you took the low road.
I didn't have the best experience, but it was not a good fit for me. Still waiting to get
hh
Yes. I wouldn't classify them as good or bad. Pay was okay. Account I was on was okay. Didn&#
like my supervisor very much.  She was kind of disorganized and didn't really communicate all that effectively.  All in all, pretty comparable to other places I've worked.  There was a problem with running out of work and when you are an employee instead of IC you are expected to sit there and keep checking for work during your shift which kind of sucked cause you didn't get paid for basically being on-call.
Webmedx didn't about 1-1/2 years ago. Good luck. nm
x
Hello other ex-Genie. YOG was a wonderful company indeed. I didn't know how good I had it. Those
x
I was an IC for them. No complaints. Good feedback. One thing I didn't care for (sm)

was that if I had been an employee instead of an IC, I would have had to conform to their mandatory ergonomic protocols and send a picture of my desk/work environment as proof of compliance.  Monthly meetings were sometimes interesting, mainly routine--not paid, or at least I never was for them.

I worked on their Vianeta platform, but many accounts were on Emdat, which I have never used and don't know if I would want to.  Pay was good (set by me and okayed by them) and on time with DD.

I was only with them a few months and quit mainly because of too much work on my other, older accounts, and I didn't think it was fair to them or InterPro (or me) to try to keep up with them all.

I didn't say I didn't care, I just don't understand
why the sudden outrage over HL offshoring.
The best co. ever! Good work, good people, good pay, good bennies.

She didn't say they didn't offshore at all s/m
What she did say is that if the work needs to be done here, it stays here (paraphrased a bit, I think).

That is not lying and saying that they don't offshore work, as was stated by another poster above, but saying that if the client wants the work to stay in the US, they will keep it here. Sheesh.
Hope this fan ain't
nm
hope not
I certainly hope 20 hours per week requirement will not be part of the new rules.  I think a line count requirement should be sufficient.
hope not!
I hope not, I need to work 50+ hours for them to make ends meet, otherwise I will have to get another job.  Is it okay to work for two companies??
I would hope someone would
do the same for me if asked.
I hope I do not have a bad
experience with them.  That is why I am only going PT and if it does not work out, I will still have my old job to fall back on.
Let's hope so!

Well I hope..
The facilities start to catch this and crack down on the companies.  My part time company wants ALL reports looked over.  We don't penalize for sending blanks to me and I do a quick read over everything (except for a few MTs who do not require this).   I worked in Escription and what I saw on there was SCARY!!!
I hope this is better.

I worked for an offshore owned company where it was all about quantity.  Company even kept a HORRIBLE MT just because she cranked out the lines.  Didn't matter her quality was crap and was considered a joke by middle managment.  India did most typing but with US edit.  Typists changed regularly so it wasn't like they learned to do better.  Quality would improve slightly and then would notice, after couple of months, that quality was crap again so we knew we were dealing with a new batch of typists. Even so, the push was always on to get the jobs off US edit and send Indian work straight to client.  Of course, the clients never knew they were not getting US editing anymore, as they got no price reduction when they no longer had that level of work being done on their jobs.  The problem is the facilities accept the crap work so why should the companies change.  It took a while but I finally found a US owned company where quality matters.  Now one of the first questions I would ask a prospective employer is if they are US owned.

We can hope so, anyway! nm
nm
I am like that too, so I hope you are right! nm
x
I would hope
that a physician would read over their dictation. I mean aren't they liable for anything that is wrong in the medical record? Sheesh!
Hope?

Ok, thanks to all of you who gave me information regarding decent online MT companies.  however, of all the recommendations, none of them appear to hire new grads.

be honest with me, am i pretty much doomed to working for a bad company for 2-5 years until I gain enough experience to be hired by a decent company?

..this does not seem promising :(

I hope not, but
I think some of the clients are going to dump them anyway(especially a big one who has been burned before by off-shoring) once they are no longer all U.S.-based. I think they probably expect this. It seems that many of DRC's MTs have been around a long time, many come from hospitals and also have MT management experience or former small MT company owners (or both). So we know multiple facets of the business. It occurred to me that if I were still in a hospital sending out the work that it would be a hard sell to keep a company that went from U.S.-based only to one that had previously been India-based only. I would probably dump them.

I'm not sure Acusis fully realizes the percentage of Americans who are highly offended and even disgusted by this off-shoring transcription craze. DCR previously appealed to those exact people.

I do think they will try to get us to sign something to agree not to work for the facilities that dump them, which may further cause an exodus to other companies who have similar accounts or will be getting those accounts.

I'm (still) waiting for the questions to be answered from the webcast.

I simply cannot quit right now. I have a backup plan but it's not workable yet. I wish it were. Things not only have to remain the same, but actually be better or I'm ending my long career as a MT, period. It's down to the last straw on the camel's back for me.

There is Hope
I am been an MT for two years now. When I finished school (a crappy course I might add), I started at 8 cpl. In three months I went up to 10 cpl. About one year later, I got sick of the cherrypickers and work stealers and quit. I found another account where they pay 16.25 cpl...no joke. I also got a second account (so I have two now). The second account pays $2.00 per report and you don't get reports over 2 minutes long. I know this is not the norm and want to acknowledge how fortunate I am. (I am an excellent MT, however. It is not strictly luck). I earn between $8,000-$10,000 per month now. As a single Mom and no other income, I couldn't be happier.
