They offered me 8.5 cpl recently, turned them down
because of the offshoring part.  They recently got an account that I had worked on for about 10 years prior to it being lost to MQ and then MQ lost it due to quality issues.  I thought at 8.5 cpl I could make good money (not great pay but few ESL and familiar dictators), but just couldn't do it.
Recently offered 8.5 cpl - no negotiating.
I told them the $$ was the reason I couldn't accept even though the benefits were good and they said okay, be sure to refer your friends to us.  I don't know how they keep the accounts current on their dictation with the constant help needed.
I was recently offered a net acct with them, no Cphone. nm

I have a good friend who was recently offered a job there - SM
She has 7 years of full-time experience, and they offered her 6 cents per line for acute care/basic 4! I couldn't believe it when she told me! Needless to say, she took a job somewhere else that paid much more than that!
We have 1 account that is high ESL

Out of several acute care accounts, there is 1 account with a high percentage of ESLs.  When hiring for that account, management also makes it very clear regarding the ESLs.

I have been there 2+ years and I still love my job.  They treat us with the respect we deserve.  They expect high quality and they audit 3% of our work monthly.  The platform is great and exceed the line count every pay period.  We don't have to mess around with the demographics unless the dictator puts in the wrong MR# and then all we do is put the name and correct MR# if dictated.

Happy, I also have a high ESL account
at MDI and I love it. I like the challenge of learning the accents. I remember one doc (probably Indian or Pakistani) that I had the hardest time with when I started. Now I love to get his work, as I can breeze right through it. I'm with you, I'll take the ESLs over some of the American mushmouths and speed demons any day!
Were you recently hired for a new account? If so (sm)
wouldn't it be easier for you to ask them at the office if the acct has started, if not when, if it has, ask for a backup.  Coming here and complaining does no good.
They have recently gotten a very large account. Probably
xx
I just recently started a verbatim account...

and I have to stop myself from making corrections and have to really concentrate on typing exactly what they are saying.  It's HARD!  But hey, they are indirectly signing my paycheck, so I gotta do what they tell me to, ya know?

Anyone with Probity recently on their new ExText account?
s
I agree with what you said, high workload
all the time. I could work 24 x 7.
yes offered another account, will try it before I quit.nm
nm
I agree. I recently had the opportunity to get out of MT.
I didn't. Maybe if I could find a different WAHM job with flexible hours, but I just can't bring myself to work outside the home again. Just the thought of daily makeup, pantyhose, high heels, commuting, packing lunches, office politics, finding daycare and transportation for the kids for the daily 10-hour span of time that I'm not available, coming home to a messy house because I've been gone all day, etc. Not to mention having to work twice as long for half as much money. And my favorite? Total control over the thermostat. LOL
I have to agree. My MTSO has had a lot of days recently of slow to no work but there is no way I'
jump from the frying pan into the fire. I can't afford to take a chance. Thanks for sharing your situation.
Well I don't agree with lying but if I were offered the money she was
offered, I would have taken it and would spend the rest of my life enjoying.
I'm high level 4, all acute care, high ESL, many years exp. and highest QA grades...
In case you are wondering...All acute care, all specialties. I request new accounts, and yet they all run out of work...not just during usual slow periods...
I'm original poster and a high level 4 as well with high ESL accts, which I've always had...sm
My accts (10+) for the previous 12 years were all in the LA area. I consider ESL at Webmedx easy, even though my WebmedX accts are supposed to be high ESL. ALL of my STMs accounts are low on work--quite low. I've added more accounts. Not helpful if all are low in work. My supervisor at MQ was more helpful than my Webmedx STM.
They are not MT, but general transcription. Pay not very high. at least not as high as MT work.x

Sporadic problems with my account on DSG1 with sound but overall if offered DSG1 I would give it a
try, this is a good company.  Not enough experience with DSG2 to give you a  current opinion.
Don't agree they need to contact others on account (sm)
seems like that is just asking for trouble.
I agree - same account for 4 years.
I do have secondary accounts, though. This is a good thing so I never run out of work.
I agree, I think it's probably account specific.
On both my accounts I log directly into the facility system, so if that account were to want coverage for particular hours, then I think that's probably what KS tries to provide. Luckily my two don't care so long as the work gets done and they stay in turnaround.
I agree with this poster, take the ESL account
Honestly, I really don't know why so many people try to avoid them. Once you learn them, they are no different than some of the horrible EFL docs. Plus it is more money!
Agree - No shortage on my account
I don't recall seeing any complaints about no/low work at TT really until the switchover to voice recognition on some accounts. I can't help but wonder if those running out of work are the ones refusing to do VR.

Oh well, I'm back to typing, too...tons of work on there to be done!
AGREE! When my primary account went ISR........
I took about a $200 to $300 a month pay cut. Don't think this won't happen with this new system. Will soon be paying them for the priviledge of working for them.
I agree with her, but a lot depends on supervisor and account.

I agree with her, but a lot depends on supervisor and account.

I agree..I have been very busy on my account and have not even been on this board (sm)
for 3 days in a row. I am still with KS and very happy.  A couple weeks ago I posted my true feelings about working there because they were true and after the horrors I experienced at Medquist the last year I was there, KS is a refreshing change of pace.  If someone doesn't like the fact that people who work for KS are genuinely happy, don't read the posts about them. I am not a member of management or someone who was coerced to write how I feel about my job.  I have worked for 4 MT companies in the past 15 years and Keystrokes is far and away the best.  I do not like switching companies either so I plan on staying with Keystrokes for the duration of my career.
so, you know for sure this account agrees to be offshored? (some do not agree).
nm
I agree, especially when one can set up a g-mail account in 2 minutes
I can't imagine a reputable employer using an email address like theirs. Utterly unprofessional.
Agree about Oncology, not easy account . sm
to learn, especially the medications, about half of which are experimental and not on the FDA-approved marked yet - thus, limited lookup and references on them.  I did Oncology FT for 3.5 years at the Q for MD Anderson and was quite a challenging account/specialty that had to be slowly learned.
That account in Texas was not a MQ account. They did not use DQS on that account until KS started.
They are moving 3 other accounts to DQS between now and January 1st. I asked. The MQ accounts they have gotten in the past did not go to DQS. I followed my old account, which is how I know, and it was Meditech. The account is still run by KS and is a big account too.
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
I think a lot of the high $$ MTs

produce the lines, but not necessarily the quality.  I know lots of MTs who never do any type of proofing before submitting work.  I used to work with one high producer, but the quality of her work was horrible.  This was several years ago and no spellchecker and no QA.  She would never survive in this business now with the error rate she had.

I'm sure there are some quality MTs that can also produce a huge amount of lines because they learn to work smarter and can type like a demon.

you ARE on the high end of

the pay scale and congrads to you!

It is NOT high ESL, no more than
nm
High ESL
I just want to point out that being a Transcriptionist should include learning to deal with ESL dictation. Obviously you should be compensated fairly for that, but the truth is being able to decipher different dictation is what makes us more valuable than a machine.
VERY HIGH ESL when I was there . . .
I struggled to make counts because the dictators were so difficult. I have a lot of experience with ESL, too. I liked her thought she was very nice, but struggled really bad with the ESL load.
high and dry?
What do you mean by high and dry.  I know for a fact that you have a lead for this account, a coordinator, LOTS of samples,  QA people who are available every shift - and very helpful. That doesn't even make sense.  You sound like a disgruntled individual.
Then when we MT's are **thrown on** an account because of lack of work on our account

What is so hard to understand about that?

Then we have that account info filed away in a folder in our Outlook Express by name of account and can look at past emails sent out regarding that account.  Not fun to be tossed on an account that you have never seen NOR ever received an email on.  Sounds like business to me.

You are wrong about the account. KS dumped the account for several reasons. sm
It happened quickly and was unexpected but it was really for the best. Keystrokes does not string people along or lie to you. After being with MQ for too long, I am happy there, although it is not for everyone.

I really would give them a call as the other poster suggested. That whole situation was a nightmare for everyone including management but the account pulled a fast one on them.

I have the facts on this because I have a good friend at the hospital and what she told me matched what my manager did.

I know that they are trying to give more when so many companies are giving less and taking away more.
DRC Insurance very high - sm
I was offered a position with DRC and would have taken it, but family health insurance coverage was something like $900 a month! There is no way I could pay that much and I needed the benefits.
Jo, I think you're going to be all right. You have a high sm
QA score and you are increasing your production consistently on a weekly basis. It takes such a long time for an MT to be able to sit down and transcribe whatever comes through the queue and make good money. This is very tough work, and we all learn every day. You have what sounds like great work habits, terrific quality, and a wonderful attitude. You'll do fine.
If you are a high producer (400+ lph) do you have to
even after you make your line count at Spheris?
She used to pay by the page and not very high. Don't know about now. nm
s
I have their insurance now and it is rather high...however, (sm)
they are in the process of changing their benefits package so I'm hoping for something with a lower rate.  I have single coverage and pay about $400 a month currently.  I'm kind of waiting to see how much the new insurance is going to be.
There is insurance. Some consider it too high but they are getting sm
new insurance that is supposed to be lower in cost but better coverage.

I have the insurance they offer now, which is Unicare, and have no problems with it. I took out the family plan, which cost me $610 a month, but the insurance through my DH's company would have been over $800, so I am not complaining.
Seems to be about right. Not high, but normal. Thx! nm

High turnover.......
I live in New Jersey and this is a not a good company to work for....read the old posts about this company in the Archives. Not a good company....
Very high turnover....
They always keep running the same ad every 3 weeks or so, so that should tell you something about them. I did not like testing for them at all, so I just gave up! Horrible dictators.
This is like in high school where
Why are these companies wanting to have initials for their names?  Do they think it will make them more popular?  For example, TTS, TT, MQ, KS.....  There are others doing the same, and looks like this one that doesn't pay wants to be FST now so they sound more important and fly under the radar as Four Seasons known as a nonpayer.  Professional to me equals proper name, and isn't that what the BOS preaches?  Let's be professional insteady of like small children with little nicknames that are like baby talk!
