and they will help you trouble shoot.  If you go to the screen for billing, you will see information there on how to live chat for technical issues.  Hope this helps.

I don't know where you live but where I live foreclosures are rising and there are no jobs -- non
I worried about my employer for part of the winter as my accounts grew sparse. I had plan to switch to being an employee with benefits but dared not make the switch in this economy (this was last year this time, got it?)
I figured keeping my seniority was worth whatever security it afforded.

My accounts have rebounded some and I can pay my bills.

By economizing seriously, I have paid off my credit card and put some money aside, just in case. I'm breathing easier, thanks.

So, all in all, I'm not complaining. This last winter was brutal, but I had a job and I paid my bills. When employment rebounds and/or national health goes into effect, people will go to the doctor again and we will be busy.

My part of the world is like a ghost town -- everyone who could left to find work in the city -- many apparently leaving their homes to the banks. Several houses in my vicinity have been on the market more than 4 years.

Forgive me my loyalty ... it pays the bills.

What does yelling at the rest of us do for you?
you obviously don't chat much
sd is said. Standard shorthand on chatboards. Why would something so miniscule and insignificant bother you? like I s-a-i-d, you have some real issues that need working on. I am not the one capping and underlining and bolding it, the stupid site is.

Chat, anyone?!
nm
Would like to chat with anyone
who has worked (or does work) for Opti-Script out of State College, PA.  I am considering getting another PT job.  Any information would be helpful.  Feel free to email me or respond here.  Thanks!

Does anyone ever use the chat room?
newbie chat
I don't remember how to do it anymore, but know there is a way we could set up our own group chat for the account on yahoo or here. Anyone interested? E-mail and I will see if I can set it up.

Back around the turn of the century, my school offered had Spanish and Latin.  I did four years of Latin.  Besides, I think French makes you sound like you have a permanent sinus condition.

There is a restaurant near my home, run by a French family, and it is tres drole to be greeted with a bon jour and thanked with a merci.  On the other hand, watching customers try to play along with their high school French is also quite amusing because try as they might, they just cannot get the staff to understand what they say.  Que?  Que?  Garrison Keillor's skit about 'Cafe Berf ' is not too far off the mark.

Also, any request for something not standard issue is rudely dismissed.  I was once served a chocolate mousse in a tall, tapering tulip glass so that the bottom 1/3 was inaccessible with the soup spoon I had been given.  Might I have a dessert spoon?  Non!  An iced tea spoon, perhaps?  NON!  (he says, holding up the teaspoon)  Zees ees ze spoon!  So I calmly picked up the proper utensil (my mousse knife) and scraped the dessert out of the glass under his horrified gaze.

Gotta love 'em!

Get real, the MTs IM each other all the time and chat sm
I talk with other MTs daily on IM and have never been told not to.  You can talk to them outside of work if you get their personal email, have never been told not to do that either.  They only limit you if you allow it.  There is freedom of speech in the U.S.  Sharing line rates is just stupid, it's your income and no one elses business, they aren't afraid of that.  If anything they don't want people complaining about them, which is understandable - if you worked in- house and they heard you complaining all the time at a hospital, they'd send you to the door or have a serious talk.  Why should an outsourcing company be any different.  We are employees using their equipment plain and simple.  As for them being like a Big Brother, get real, it's just a scare tactic for you to think they are watching your every move, they don't have time for that, they don't have that many people to do that and way more important stuff to do because we share them with the clients and they have needs too.  You are just way to paranoid.
Heres the chat link....

Theres the link, duno why it didn't show up on the other page.

If you are running out of work, you need to chat w/your mgr. sm
No one should run out of work consistently; you should be trained on 1-2 backup accounts so that doesn't happen. On rare occasions, like holiday periods, I do run out during my shift and I do try to make up outside my 12-hr flex, or on another day off. It happens so seldom that I usually take PTO or unpaid time instead.

If you consistently do not work 35-40 hours, then yes you lose full-time benefits.
to amanda
look on job seekers board on MTstars. They had an ad in there last week - TransTech. You can apply right from the ad.
THANK YOU AMANDA!!
Very, very well said!
Amanda
It appears to be misinformation. The IRS has a good website. I always advise people to discuss their particular situations with their own CPAs so they can get the best information for their own situation. Good luck!
Amanda
seems to be Etransplus' cheerleader, she is the only one who ever responds to these querries, wonder why. I hope things go well for you new hires, but I would definately not put all your eggs in the eTransPlus basket, I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but a tiger does not change it's stripes.
Amanda
Thanks for correcting me. I am sorry for misunderstanding. I was just worried that she (or he) could get caught up in some nasty IRS business. Glad I was wrong.
Amanda, do you know, if there is no
length of time specified in the contract, how long would the noncompete clause remain in effect? Thank you.
Thanks, Rennie, for answers in the chat room! NM
nm
I don't get the constant chat about "overhired at Webmedx" - sm
My accounts are constantly running overtime. My STM is asking for OT on at least 3 accounts today and has been for the past month. If you are running out of work, ASK SOMEONE for more!
Hey Amanda - keep us posted
x
Amanda - you're right- sm
This is not unique to US MTs. MTSOs, you better believe that folks in other countries wouldn't think twice if a better offer were on the table. If you think that they are loyal to you, you're in complete and total denial!
Amanda - can you email me?
Will you email me? I have some questions for you.
Amanda - I would like some answers
Yes, Amanda was the recruiter's name. The test site said I passed, Amanda said you failed, good luck in your job search. Their loss. Don't want to work for them anyway. The end. :)
Amanda, I am the one you were talking to ...... SM

and I apologize for not writing back.  Your last note is still in my inbox to be answered!  Anyway, the name of that company is Echo Transcription.  I know they have benefits (remember, MTA didn't) and that they used Docuscribe (?sp) and have part of a large hospital in Atlanta.  Good luck!

Amanda please check with the recruiter
this is absolutely not my experience with MDI-MD. Quality is absolutely #1. You submit your schedule of how many lines you plan to do and then do them plus or minus some. I was specifically told by my liasion that if there is not sufficient work, OF COURSE you are not expected to meet your projected count. I have fallen short for other reasons and no one has bothered me about it or wanted to know why and certainly not cut my status to prn. This board is great for sharing ideas, but there is no guarantee they are all accurate!! Feel free to e/m me with more questions.
MagicJack (Amanda's post)

I ordered it, but haven't been able to get it to work right.  I'm thinking it's something dumb on my part, as a friend of mine says her daughter has it (in NY) and does fine.  The location should make no difference, of course.  I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Just so you know, there's no 800# to call, contrary to what my friend told me.  I've surfed around to find out what others have said about it, and the vast majority like the thing, so at some point I hope to get it to work.

Maybe when you get it you'll post an update on it.  It arrived here really fast.  Good luck to ya.

Amanda, why are you leaving EtransPlus?
x
How does a chat board assist an MTSO with nonpayment issues?
Just asking, not finding the correlation between the two, and clarification would be appreciated for now and the future.
Amanda is one that dont return emails
Was told she's new and still hot a lot to learn.

I emailed Amanda re; some questions about working for them.
Haven't heard back yet. Guess I'll look for a different part-time company. Can't afford to hang around waiting.
Amanda, does e TransPlus hire part-time IC? (nm)
x
It depends on where you live. If you live in their
service area it would be cheaper than outside their service area.   I only have rates for out of service area and medical is  139.13 for family or 168.42 depending on what plan you choose.  Dental is 20.85 for family, vision is 5.13.  These are per pay period.

Individual coverage would be 44.79/54.21 medical, 7.99 dental, and 1.71 vision.

I opted out of insurance as we have through my husband's job.  I believe  the cheaper insurance is a 70/30 plan and the more expensive an 80/20, not sure about co-pays.  Deductibles are $2000 for family, not sure about individual.
i live in NC. Where is this sm
company at. I am thinking about changing employers.
Yes, I used to live near them.

There was a recent post at this link.  http://forum.mtstars.com/company/v/1/7698.html

And a post from 2004 stating that they were disorganized.

They don't live up to their name...nm
x
don't know but u live elsewhere than me....sm

When I go soliciting more private work (rarity), I expect exactly what I charge today and for the past 10 years; have never raised my rates. I chose my rate by what was/is usual and customary in the area where I live and what other fellow MTs charge.  No complaints thus far, but I live in and around a couple of huge cities, and I do charge 12 cpl, promising 24-48 TAT, with close to 3 decades experience.  Best luck to you !!

Anyone here live in PA???
side of the state and wondering if anyone could tell me of some good neighborhoods to move into; anywhere between Stroudsburg and Philly.  Thanks everyone!
Where I live
pretty much all jobs require a background check and the potential employers pay for them. I have had to have a background check for every job I have applied for here. It really wasn't a big deal.
if that is all it is, i can live with that;
I will just remember to get it in on time.

I believe you have to live near SM
the hospital to reap the full benefits of the insurance.

Others have stated they cannot use the hospital insurnance and that there is little work, due to over-hiring.
I live in s/m
NW Arkansas (Wal-Mart country).  There are craft fairs and festivals just about every weekend.  Near Eureka Springs where the whole town is made up of gift shops and tourism is about their only industry.  Lots of wealthy tourists willing to pay $5000 to $10000 for a quilt.  Yes, I meant to add that many zeros.  Nice gourd birdhouses they'll pay $150 or more for.  30% commission still leaves a nice hefty profit.
Where do you live?
and what sort of experience is your 14 years in? I work for a hospital that is looking to hired experienced MTs right now... some leads, but still some possible openings. What state/city are you in?

I worked for a service, then for a hospital. My hospital experience is totally positive. I wouldn't go back. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope you find something!
Where do you live?

maybe it depends where you live,
it was in the regular mail. Corporate is in the northeast and so am I. Maybe that's why I got mine and you are waiting.
live s/b life (nm)

it helps if you put where you live - sm
you stated microcassettes accounts - so more than likely maybe something nearby or a hospital that perhaps still dictates the old fashioned way - (AND YES, THERE ARE HOSPITALS THAT DO STILL USE TAPES!!)

so whereabouts do you live
how do you live off 800$ a month?
x
Depending on where you live (sm)
this could be a very good position for you. The people I used to supervise (pathology transcriptionists in-house) made about $15-19 per hour depending on how long they had been there. This is in Southern California, though, where employers will pay a little more when transcriptionists are scarce.
Depends on where you live
It sounds like you live in an area where there is a moderate cost of living. Here in the Bay Area, $15 an hour for an MT in any specialty/area is unheard of. Most start at $22 an hour for 1+ years experience. Well, this is what needed -- plus a lot more -- to pay $2,000 a month for rent or purchase a $600,000 two-bedroom house.
Re: Depends on where you live.
In the East Bay, say Albany, El Cerrito, Pinole, El Sobrante, and there are some very nice areas in Richmond (despite the news/press coverage), even all the way out to Vallejo and Fairfield. But for Berkeley, San Francisco, Marin, the West Bay, and the South Bay - forget about it!! All depends on where you like to live and what you can afford. If you are looking for Marin or Walnut Creek-type neighborhoods, then you will pay $1 million for a two-bedroom house. If you are looking for more modest, but still nice neighborhoods like those above, then you will find what you are looking for in the East Bay.
The town that I live in is

Stillwell, in Georgia.  The Stillwell is for the town, MTC is Medical Transcriptionist Coder.  :)

thanks for the info though.
