Can you tell me how long you have to wait before you qualify for insurance?

Thanks, and can I ask how many lines you do weekly (average) on their accounts? I noticed it has varied for me among diffent companies.

Does anyone know how long it takes before you qualify for insurance at Keystrokes? nm

Transtech....how long of a wait for insurance?

Transcend...how long of a wait for insurance?

You still qualify for holiday pay as long as you sm
tried to work and have NSA messages. Ask your STM, just to verify. S/he should tell you that you'll still get the holiday pay b/c it isn't your fault that you're out of work.
I would get fired.. you would qualify for unemployement. If you quit, then you would not qualify..
As far as using them a reference, I would not worry about that.. From my experience, I have hardly had any potential employers check my references or when they did I just gave them the heads up about my version of what happened. Most are thankful of the honest as not every company is a fit for everyone. I doubt that would hold it against you.
Re: Wait period for insurance

I just wanted to clarify this and ensure that everyone has the correct information.  The wait period for our insurance is 120 days.  We review your status at 90 days to ensure that you are producing at full-time capacity and then if you are, you are sent the benefits info to sign up for whatever you're interested in.  The benefits will start 30 days after that so it equates to 120 days.

I don't think I can wait that long!
I haven't talked to anyone from Amphion, but their web site info looks great, especially the make your own schedule and holidays being completely up to the MT.
How long to wait?
Recently I tested and passed with a national company that has had quite a few advertisements on this site recently.  I immediately received an e-mail saying I had passed the test and when would be a good time for a telephone interview, which I answered...that was last Tuesday and I haven't heard anything.  I'm sure their HR department is very busy, but how long should I wait to e-mail them again, or try to call?  I really need this job and it's a good fit for my experience (PT).  Don't want to be a pest, but don't want to fall through the cracks, either.  Thanks!
Gone too. Finally, after long wait.
Too much BS.  Either tons of emails, work, work, work for your incentive, not that you EVER see it in your paycheck.  Send emails and get your ticket, automatic response, and never an answer from anyone who should answer.  Pays promised one day and delivered 4 days later.  Done with it and glad to be leaving.  Poor management, poor communication, if any, and poor everything.  RUN.
Who can afford to wait that long?
No way would I take such a job - what happens if they NEVER get paid? You work for free, that's what.

It's not common at all - you'd be better of getting your own accounts!
How long to wait to start new job?
I was offered a new job Monday and sent in the completed paperwork as required right away via fax.  I got a welcome letter the same day.  I have heard nothing since and did email once thanking them for the position and indicated I was ready to start immediately.  Still, I have heard absolutely nothing since.  How long should I wait to actually get started?  I was told that they were growing and I could have as much work as I wanted.  Any advice?
Pay is strange with a LONG wait...nm
xx
You have to wait 90 days to quality for insurance and the other benefits. sm

There are 3 different plans for coverage -- basic, choice, and ultimate, I think -- and you choose which one is right for you. I do not have the paperwork handy, but it seems like good coverage at a reasonable price (single coverage, don't really remember about family), and you can also opt for dental and vision insurance.  You are right, though, the premium is deducted every 2 weeks.

I couldn't wait to sign up for the insurance this year...

It was going to be cheaper than what we are paying now. Then I got the payment sheet and I was really disappointed. The rates are almost double as last year's rates.

The insurance I have now is cheaper even though their deductible is quite high and they don't pay for ER coverage. After finally talking my husband into going under TT's insurance (that alone took almost a year to convince him), now I have to tell him we're staying where we're at now....unless TT does find a better plan.

I will be waiting [im]patiently to see what they come up with.

I know Heartland makes you wait that long.
nm
I wouldn't wait that long. If I cannot be on a regular
What are they paying, once a month? So, for the whole month of May, you draw pay on June 13th?

Not for me.

Call now. A week is certainly long enough to wait. nm

How long did you wait for training at Transcend?
Just wondering what the typical time frame is from install to training?
WTH do they wait so long? is it a form of torture?
lazy?!?!?!
Wait...let me guess. Shapin right? Can go for long without mentioning them!
If they are making the $ it is either because of working round the clock or whizzing through with poor quality. I am thinking whizzing through because in past postings they are very busy with posting negative things here. I make 4 cpl and listen to everything as required. I do well, but to do it right and be thorough you would not make big $ at 1.5.
Anyone tested and heard back from DTS America. How long was your wait? nm
/
may be good now, wait until they Global your account, too. I left there long ago, happy I did. nm
.
New insurance, huh? How long have they
been dangling the new insurance carrot for?  Two or three years now?
Long ago, an employer said we'd get insurance (sm)
and I started paying into it. But I never got any info, & was too young & dumb to follow up on it. About 7 or 8 months later I asked about it, and employer told me you have no insurance. When I said then I wanted the money back I'd been paying into it every month, she threatened to fire me over it. All I wanted was what was rightfully mine - either the money or the insurance. I later quit, but filed a claim with the state's LABOR BOARD, and not only won the suit & got my money back, but put her out of business as well.
How long does it take for Diskriter insurance to take
I'm talking about health insurance for Diskriter employees, not their hospital accounts.
As long as you don't need health insurance through them
The insurance is quite pricey.
Thanks..do you know what the deductibles are and how long before your eligible for insurance? Thanks

Ha! There was a spoof on SNL a long time ago, something like Dave's insurance. sm
I've been burned by insurance companies before, so I understand.
Just found out I have to buy error/omission insurance to remain IC. So long MDI.
x
I would think you qualify. . sm
A man quit at my husband's trucking company and then filed for unemployment. He told them there was not enough work. There was plenty of work, he just wanted to quit. He actually got the paid unemployment. It cost us a lot of money, and now he will only hire ICs. It was really unfair because the man quit. He was having trouble in his marriage and his wife wanted him to be home. So that's what he did. He quit and lived off the unemployment checks for 6 months or more. It doesn't hurt to check into it. It seems like if he could get it, you would be likely to qualify. Two weeks is a long time to go without work. Good luck!
Please qualify that statement..have you ever used DQS?sm
just tell me please before I jump into another rediculous platform full of demo screens to wade through before actual transcription.
I probably don't qualify to post

because I have yet to do VR.  However, my neighbor is working for a local clinic as an IC and she loves it.

However, from reading this board, what I pick up and I may clearly be off base but if you work for a good company VR is okay but a lot of places it seems are letting people use it that don't need to be using it and they are having to retype the report for half the pay.

Basically what it boils down to is who you work for.

Do not need FT status to qualify for UE - sm

They go according to work you have DONE in the past 52 weeks rather than what you were promised.  In my state, must have worked at least 20 week during last 52 weeks, earning $80.00 or more (may be $90 by now, data is couple of years back).  I don't think 1 day of no work would qualify, either.  Here there is a waiting period of 1 week - benefits start second week of unemployment.  So easy for employer to manipulate.

What DOES qualify though, as well, is a SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION in salary or hours originally agreed upon, not being paid at least minimum wage, and given title/job duties different from what originally hired for.

After my last 2 checks from Transcend, I now can qualify
to get food stamps and some living assistance.  Sure hope the big guys in the company - all those new bosses they hired  - are getting the same big pay cuts and low wages, but you can be sure the only thing they are doing is getting bigger backsides from sitting around sending out lies about how great this program is and how much they are doing to help us.  Larry, you need to get your act together and tell the truth for once.  You are not doing a d****ed thing to help anyone but yourself.
Anyone switching from IC to FT for MQ - qualify for sign on bonus? (nm)
;
Depending on the reason you may not qualify for unemployment...sm
If an employer has good grounds for dismissal then unemployment won't be awarded.
Do all MTSOs require 39+ hours to qualify for
nm
Nope, not a catch. The only thing you need to do to qualify I think is have been there one year in
to be eligible. They pay like four weeks at full pay (your average weekly earnings) or eight weeks at half pay. Your choice. They strongly believe that it's the right thing to do.
401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
No problem :) No matter how long, it is too long for me - I am broke the day after payday. Kids wi
do that to you!

I know that they have worked very hard to make sure that checks are never late and I can say that in the past two years, I have had one problem (2 days late) and in the past 18 months, they have all been on payday and perfect.

I know that there are a lot of hard feelings in MT in general. I also know firsthand (and I am not mgmt) how hard KS has worked to get things going good.

I would not want to walk in an MTSO's shoes for any amount of money, but that's just me. I like to finish my work for the day, forget about work when not working and get paid on payday. I never want the other things that go with mgmt or owning a company of any kind :)
They definitely rip you off with your line count. Figured this out long ago and quit long ago

Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars.  I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
What really sucks is that I looked for a LONG, long time -sm
before joining DRC - wanted a highly reputable, not-too-big co. that was LOCAL, and that treated its MTs humanely. I'm very happy with DRC & had planned to stay with them permanently.
Long, long history of not paying...and
similar posts have been made here in the past few months. Everyone thinks they will be different, and then they end up coming back here to warn others that they don't pay.
Oh, well, then please don't wait around for it. I
wouldn't want you to be disappointed.

Gosh.
But wait and see. :)

I had work the first 2 full weeks I was there.. afterwards I was bombarded with hours and lines to make up.  i.e., 11-15 hours every single week with a paycheck that never topped $200 except for my first one because they pay $200 to train. They always wanted everyone available every hour of every day. At least my TM is.  You need to come back after you are there for a while and let me know how it is REALLY going for you.

Only excuse I ever got was the doctors are on vacation thats why no one has work... umm I had like over 50 when I stopped counting in my work pool.. so I highly doubt it.

I really do hope everything works out for you.

I was told we can never use our own computer.  Everyone has to use theirs.

wait, there's more

OH MY GOSH - thank you so much for posting this information.

I got an email from them telling me about a job and that I was preselected. Everything about the email was so professional, even the mention of sending them $11.95 to keep active with their staffing service, taking a typing test and sending the results, etc.

I got the email the evening before Thanksgiving and they needed a reply by the Friday after Thanksgiving because the job was supposed to start the next week. I got the feeling of
hurry so you don't miss this opportunity.
IT SOUNDED AND LOOKED SO GOOD - and I didn't have a lot of time to research this company - so I started with these forums and lo and behold here was my answer.

I sure appreciate that you took the time to input this information.

I fell for it the first time that they sent me something. I think it had to do with data entry but then they said that the positions have been filled. I find out that there was only like 2-4 positions that they had opened.

Now wait. Don't tell me there are

what you type in, no matter what your Expander plays out.  For instance, if you type copdx and that comes out as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, you should get paid for all the characters/spaces in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, right?  Not just five letters for copdx.  I'm asking because of the post below.

Heck, if I worked for a company that wasn't paying me for stuff the I took the time to put in MY expander to make transcription faster and more profitable for ME, then I'd just throw my expander out and type everything the hard way.

Please tell me there is no company that cheats MTs like that!

wait!!!
If you are an IC, you get paid when the hospital pays the client = stop complaining and deal with it!
