Why did you take offense - none meant
If you are comfortable with your self-described 'hatred' of Indians you need not defend yourself to me.

That said, I disagree that hatred is a valid emotion. Anger is a valid emotion, but hatred is not an emotion per se (per many psychologists) for one reason because unlike an emotion like sadness or anger, it is not of a temporary nature.

We'll just agree to disagree on that one.

We'll also have to disagree that contacting/lobbying your REPRESENTATIVES IN CONGRESS - the ones who write laws like the one(s) you currently oppose - would be LESS effective than trying to bring down 'Indian call service centers.'

DocQscribe is the correct spelling

YOU call us ANIMALS because we pay attention to correct grammar and spelling?
There is no strong word enough to say what you are.
With such an attitude and work moral you should get out of the MT profession.

Learning
All of what you say is absolutely true.  I probably also am one of the higher paid MTs around today and I don't do it making 6 cpl.  I have continued to learn for the past many  years and will continue to learn to the last day working out my notice, that's just me.  I don't think MOST new MTs are ever going to see the day they will make $25/hour or even close to that.  There are reasons other than money, and I don't care to post them, that I am leaving MTing for.............gourd painting.
Learning VR.....sm
If an MT with many years of experience on EXText and a variety of other platforms were determined to take a PT job to go ahead and learn VR, which would you think is the best platform to do that on, and which company would you recommend for doing that? Any and all information appreciated! TIA....
learning VR ?
If you continue to use your mouse tomake corrections, then there is nothing to learn.

But if you decide to use 'hot keys' or 'short cuts', then there is.

It is said that letting go of the mouse usage, will speed you up. I do not know if this has been proven yet.

I am a 'mouse' person and I just cannot let go of my 'mouse.'

I assume a lot of MTs are like that.
Maybe there busy learning their new
I think someone posted before that they were getting like 9 new accounts.  So,  maybe everyone is tied up and can't really take a coffee break.  I'd be stroking those keys too if I was making 9.5 cpl (their starting rate per one post).  I'm glad there's at least one company out there that pays well.  I really don't think though that someone working there for only three months could really have anything bad to say.  I think someone else posted that KS promises lower health insurance premiums soon so that is a good thing.
I am interested in learning more...
Please email me at dmorganzack@yahoo.com
Any new account will be a learning
Just mix it in with your experience all around.  You should be fine.
Learning curve
I'm not going to toot the speech making money horn, but I think it's a learning curve. I'm having a hard time giving up my mouse but still doing about 3 times the work and saving my wrists in the process. TT has offered a refresher course and paying us for taking it, I think that's not only smart on their part but good for TT MTs. Speech is here to stay and I need to suck it up and go with the flow, still too many years before I can retire.
VR learning i s a myth
VR is not taught by MT in most cases because it is *back-end* voice recognition program. VR can be taught by the dictator on *front-end programs but most docs don't care to spend the time doing it. After 1-1/2 years of doing VR, and being told it would *learn* over time, I found out that was a lie. I have brought to bosses' attention the same errors in docs' formats, the same errors in punctuation, numberint, etc, etc, as requested and nothing has changed. I just do the best I can, knowing that the platform/program I work on will never improve.
Well, no offense, but I'd rather not...
..since I have put in my notice, it's kind of a done deal. One of the reasons I didn't go on the company forum with all of this is because of Larry's email and I can see where it can be construed as stirring up trouble. I just wanted to know if anyone else saw some things that I saw. In other ways, Transcend has been good to me. I really don't want to stir up trouble and sew more seed of discontent, so I hope you can understand that. Take care...if you enjoy it, that's all that matters. Take care.:)
Don't take offense....

Oh guys, it's not that I don't believe you...I'm just trying to figure out how I could find such conflicting reports on the same company.  Had I known about the outsourcing I probably would not have applied but I did, based on all the good things I'd heard about them, and now I get to live with it.

Thanks for your replies:)

I did not take offense

No problem - I did not take offense in any way.  I appreciate the help.

No offense taken...
It is about time someone realized that anyone can post anything anonymously on these boards and a certain number of chicken necks will take if for face value. I read where applicants offered positions attempt to do their due diligence in company research by posting Hey, does anyone have anything good or bad about company XYZ? That's a good idea- leave your career decision up to the input and responses of a bunch of anonymous posters. Why not ask the homeless about investment advice? regarding my identity, it really doesn't matter. The original poster, an applicant who interviewed for a position which she failed to get, crossed the line when SHE made disparaging posts anonymously about an employee (a recruiter) of that company. Whether or not I am that recruiter challenging her on this, or whether or not I own the company in question, or whether or not I'm a fellow schlub MT just getting my rocks off by stirring it up, is irrelevant. As one poster put it, if I was disparaged or if my employee was disparaged- rightly or wrongly- I'd stand up for them (or myself). The fact that NO ONE- including the original poster- can determine where these posts originate from, is entirely the point. If you do not want to get attacked, do not drop the first bomb. If you do ot want vicious, vile rumors spread, then don't post viscious, vile rumors about others. Live and learn by The Golden Rule. If you don't know what THAT is, ask a kid in Sunday School- they'll tell ya'.
I really take offense to this...

If I want to make extra money on a holiday (and besides, how many times have I flexed to meet my lines??), then I feel free to do so.  Have I ever been told NOT to work?  Heck no.  In fact, I am ENCOURAGED to work...keep that TAT...

It is dog eat dog...has always been that way.  Get over it.  We all work different hours and have different accounts...there is plenty for all.

I take offense to that.....
You are making it sound like all southerners are religious freaks or something. And yes, some supposed Chrisitians are hypocrites...but not all. Don't generalize southerners. There are some good southern companies out there. There are a fair share of NORTHERN companies who are horrible.
I take offense as well...

Derm is no easy specialty at all.  Most clinic MTs can get into another specialty without a problem at all, so that could have been left out.  I guess I'm an ad guru all of a sudden, but some look really professional and others let's just say not so much.

Note:  Emdat is not one of the best platforms out there.  Me thinks someone is lining their pockets bigtime in this deal!  JMO.

I love your posts - I'm learning from them...sm

Thank you again for taking the time to type this very informative post.  These types of posts actually help many people, I do believe.  Like you, I do all my own MTSO work and have not yet had to farm any out.  My MDs are great in that they all pay me by the 15th of the following month.  I pretty much demand that because the work is all back in their offices by the 30th or 31st of that prior month....so wanting to get paid by the 15th of the following month is reasonable.  I am sorry for your delinquent client but my docs know I only bill out once a month and that cuts down on the billing part of being an MTSO.

What I HATE about being an MTSO....is all those receipts you have to keep all year long...but it's not the keeping of the receipts, it's the TAX PREP that we face within the next 6-12 weeks....oh what a mess that always is....not a mess - but so time consuming that I do hire someone to do that clerical stuff to get things ready for the TAX people......my daughter is the one I hire (and yep, I do pay her well to do that part of the work).

Again, thank you so much for your informative posts.  Be well....

Too soon to really say. I felt I did okay the first day given the learning curve.
I am hoping my production will increase by at least 150-200 lines a day over the first few days and that should more than bring me up to speed.
Add me to the list of those interested in learning more

I'd love to learning kickboxing
Are you in LA?
Learning curve? You mean to learn VR?
It was about 2 days for me, not much time. Is this what you mean?
It is a federal offense
If the federal government checks the time the employee is producing work from the company software instead of the falsified time sheet and finds it is consistent across the board, the company will definitely be in a huge amount of hot water.  I don't work for them and never have.  I have my own small company with just me and two more employees, but if this is going on, the employees would have a firm case.  They should also document the calls or even record them when they are called to work extra.  Just my two cents.  I hope this helps.
No Offense Intended at All!
I'm sorry if you read something into my question that was offensive to you, but it was not meant that way at all, I assure you! I only asked how you knew because as Ire stated in my followup email, no one seems to read these or answer them that has ever worked at AccuPro.  And I asssure you, the only reason I am inquiring is because I was considering applying for the Hem/Onc position they are advertising for, but my 15+ years experience in Hem/Onc is all clinic, thus my earlier question to anyone who could answer...do they do hospital or clinic work or both.  I'm just a bit concerned about applying when so little is known about them, but I do very much appreciate the info you gave me and in no way do I question or wonder whether it is true or not! I give everyone here the benefit of the doubt and assume if they post an answer they are stating what they know to the best of their ability.  I was just hoping maybe you might actually know a real person who had worked there since none seem to come forth on this board to answer any questions, which I do find very strange in light of all the MTs that read and post here.  I thank you again for your information!

IT has a looong learning curve. Am using it and you are right. I have to stop and think before ever
But, am picking up speed and accuracy is improving. It was either learn to use it or type everything out.
Thanks! Yes, I figure if I start out learning the hardest
it can only go up from here. My production is in the toilet though and being new, I have no idea how much of that to attribute to being new or having to rewind some ESL dictations a hundred times :(
Then provide samples and learning tools.
We are all only human.  The doctor is supposed to be reviewing and signing these reports they dictate.  Are they not?  If they sign off a report that has an error, that then makes the dictating physician liable, not the MT.  This docking for errors sounds like another scheme to make money off of hard-working MTs.    tsk tsk
learning Escription/Edit Script
I work for Focus also and there is nothing hard about learning Escription---it is very user friendly. The test is learning the shortcut keys to become a faster editor. There is a website that comes with this platform that will teach you the shortcuts, plus there is a great forum board to learn from other MTs. I love the platform, but still working on speed.
ha! No offense intended, Paco

'Scuse me but I'm not a monkey and I take offense

at your insinuation.

I do VR and I love it. It is not mindless and boring. You have to be able to READ to do this work, and you edit as you go along. I think it's just as challenging as MT'g. The program I use does learn as it goes along and the work has gotten easier, but you still have to CONCENTRATE hard to put out good reports.

I haven't doubled my pay or lines like others because I believe in quality before quantity, but I am close and am making more money.  It just depends on the work. Dictators are mostly pretty good, even the ESLs. In fact, some ESL reports don't need a single word edited. Sound quality is good, too. No problems.

The bonus to VR is that it is saving my hands. While doing regular MT'g, my hands would be so sore and swollen by the end of the day that I could barely lift anything, open jars, or make a fist. Now, I only get pain in a couple fingers once-in-a-while.

No offense, but part of a good MTs
job is to do every dictation (or at least attempt to do, to the best of their ability) they get in their que. He's/She's hard to understand is NOT a valid excuse to skip a report. When you have to type one ESL after another while your co-worker picks and chooses the easiest dictator, it is dishonest and unfair to good MTs.
No offense, but you are insulting the wrong ones.
You are correct when you say that difficult jobs make you a better MT. But the same holds true for cherry-pickers. They would be decent MTs (as well as honest ones)if they were honest enough to type whatever came up into their que. In my early days as an on-the-job MT, I myself had a more experienced MT cherry-pick and my lines and paycheck suffered because of it. I don't check for cherry-picking, never have, but I resent them thinking they have a right to pick and choose what I type. I, too, now am good enough to do any job, but that is no excuse for others to be dishonest. You obviously must not have to worry about money. It's a shame you are insulting the honest MTs who are complaining about the dishonest ones. You seem to be insulting the wrong people.
Why not a group note? I took no offense. (sm)
I don't expect them to spend all their time monitoring us. We are supposed to be professionals. I like them spending them time on getting new accounts, improving software, etc.

Besides, I received part of a group E-mail. I have no way of knowing what happened to any individuals who were repeat offenders. For all I know they WERE dealt with on a 1:1 basis.

I took great offense to the tone in that job ad.....sm
I have typed dermatology for over three years and it is not as easy as everyone seems to think it is. When my docs are dictating, they not only talk about their dermatology problems, but other medical problems as well and that can be any specialty under the sun.

Personally, I think she/he can take their job and stick it where the sun don't shine!!
no offense, but who are you talking to? where's the thread?
