Do you still need a second line to use their Lanier station? nm

I am on a Lanier by the line rad account with Keystrokes. sm
I love the account and using a Lanier, even though I know it is old-fashioned. I also have an account with them that is by the line but uses a wav pedal, and even though I am on that account less often, it has a lot of work.

really? by the line?? is it more than 6.5? i may have to apply with them
I too work for QT, but I believe if you do a minimum of your line
count your scheduled days to work and usually work extra even if not asked if you know they are behind, that you shouldn't be asked to work weekends, if this is not your scheduled shift.   The work has been out of TAT for months and there didn't seem to be any concern, no incentives offered to catch it up and lots of time not even requests to do extra, then all of a sudden every day it was a phone call or e-mail asking you to work extra and then on top of that they asked you to start doing 30 minutes on weekends.   It *issed me off that they were holding the threat of losing the account over us.
MDI-MD minimum line requirements? - nm

What are their minimum line requirements
available for family members as well as the employee? They sound like a great place.
Is there a minimum line count

Minimum line count
I think (but am not sure, as I always exceed it) it is 750 lines per day part time and 1200 per day full time. Again, I could be wrong; best check with the recruiter.
MDI MINIMUM LINE COUNT -
Can someone please tell me what the required minimum line count is for MDI?  Thanks so much!
What is your minimum line requirement for FT?
Just curious what all is out there....thanks.
What are your minimum line counts?

I'm curious as to what minimum line counts are expected by various companies?   I know many are using speech rec now or other systems that help with productivity.   Currious what the minimum productivity requirements are out there ?

We're on speech rec and our minimum currently is 200 lines per hour average (editing and transcription combined) and there's talk that they may raise that in the near future.  Used to work at Spheris several years ago and I know for a while there's was 125 LPH.    Just wondering !

Any companies that only have a set minimum line count per day?
I'm an acute care Transcriptionist with 5+ years experience. I currently work at a hospital but am researching for a reliable company that only sets daily minimum line counts versus a set shift schedule you have to follow.  Any out there? Thanks for any advice.
employees with no minimum line counts
I am not asking for benefits or full time. I was just trying to find out if there is any company that hires employees without a minimum line count per week, so that I would not have to worry about dealing with taxes. Once again, I do not need benefits.
employees with no minimum line counts
I also forgot to mention that I would not mind working a certain amount of hours per week. I just do not like the stress of a minimum line count per week. : )
7 cent a line $8.75 hr (1000 lines 8 hr=$70) TERRIBLE nm
.
Yes. Their line rate is based on production with a minimum

per pay period (twice a month) of 3500 lines.  I think that 3500 lines per pay period only pays around .065 cents a line though.  5000+ lines a pay period is 8 cents a line.  They are IC, but they do pay the employer portion of Soc.Security (kind of like statutory).  They pay for black and white 65-character line (spaces included).  Hope that helps.

Minimum line count is 3500/week

Employee MTs with no minimum line counts per week
I was wondering if there are any companies that hire a MT as an employee rather than an IC without a minimum line count per week? I know as an employee you will be required to have a schedule, but I am interested in knowing if anyone works as a employee and does not need to meet a minimum line count per week? Please let me know. Thanks for your help in advance.
At TransHealth, once you meet your minimum required line count...sm

(I believe it is 11,000 for full-timers), there are levels for every x number of lines above your minimum, and you get extra cpl for those lines.  It is incremental, so the more you transcribe above your minimum, the higher your cpl.  It can boost your paycheck by $500 if you really haul.  They also pay a weekend differential of extra cpl for weekend work.

I think most companies work that way.  Bonus pay is usually an increase in cpl when you exceed your minimum.

I've not had much experience with incentive pay prior to TransHealth - so there may be many other ways that bonus pay is given.  Works for me though.

It absolutely is NOT a reasonable request for a minimum line requirement!

We are not machines!  20 years ago when I started out, my first job had a requirement of 800 lines per day (8 hours), that's 100 lines an hour.  Five years later it was 1000 lines a day.  I think the standard right now is around 1200 lines a day.  Now, someone's asking for 1600 as a minimum!?!?!!?

I'm not saying there aren't people out there that can meet and exceed 1600 in a day.  I'm simply saying making 1600 a minimum requirement is absurd and unfair.

I think Lanier is only compatible with Lanier; however, call a techie guy to be sure. sm
DAC and Dictaphone are compatible with Dictaphone, DVI and VDI systems. Lanier is a monster all of its own! Unless you rerecord from the Lanier and then use the Lanier VXP player, as the MT companies do.
Since they have a Lanier account, just how did you think you could get a test without a Lanier?
only by them doing a re-record to make the test file in .wav format so you could take the test? That's why the sound quality is so bad. In addition, you want a degree of poor quality in your test files. Because that weeds out the quitters.
Bare minimum? I make over $50,000 a year in 40 hours a week. That is not bare minimum. sm
Bare minimum would be $8 an hour which is $16,640 a year or $10 an hour which is $20,800 a year. I make more than twice that and that is NOT bare minimum.

I worked to get my typing speed to 80 wpm. I worked to get my Expanders user-friendly and plentiful. I am not the fastest because I look up what I do not know, but I am lucky to have a very good memory so if I type it a few times, I do not have to look it up. I keep notes when I run across something I do not know. I am interested in my profession and read the magazines for our profession and network with other transcriptionists during my free time, devoting a minimum of 2 hours per week to networking and learning new things.

I am not the fastest MT, but I am accurate and boiled it down to simple math. I need to transcribe 250 lines per hour for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. At 10cpl, that is 2000 lines a day x 5 days per week x 50 weeks per year. I take 2 weeks off per year during July to visit my grandchildren (unpaid), 1 week a year to vacation with my husband (paid) and 1 week a year to spring clean (paid). I have worked for the same company for 4 years and 8 years for the one before this.

I treat my work hours as work hours and take 1/2 hour for lunch which I do not include in my 8 hours. I pretend that I am working outside the home and do not answer the door, get the mail, do laundry, etc. If I have a good day and go over the 2000, I bank it in my mind for days that are not as good and make sure that I get 10,000 lines each week.

My W2 each year is consistently $50,000. A few years it was higher, but I worked a few weekends, which I no longer do.

It IS possible.
you are right, a terrible, terrible thing it is.sm
but I won't complain too much after having made over 50,000 last year.
Their training schedule kind of got backed up and so far the only training..(sm)
I've had is one short Bayscribe session. But I extended my 2 week notice at Medquist and I have until July 17 now to get some training in at MDI and do some reports to get familiar with the platforms. I'm looking forward to it!
I can't say enough about their training team. Excellent training!
The people at Medware are all just great. I wish I would have joined the Medware family sooner! They are very flexible and caring!
do you mean company training or med transcription itself training?
nm
what training? no training for me, first day they Tried to give me 2 ESL....
nm
they did not come up first. An hour of training is not really training.

Lanier 219
Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the amount of light in the display on this piece of equipment?  In the small screen, I can see fine but in the larger screen there is not as much light,  and it is really hard to read the numbers.  Any help is appreciated.
If that is the same as DVI - now Lanier VXP nm

I have several Lanier LX219 if u are interested in purchasing

Anyone know of any companies using the lanier voice writer ? Thanks for input.
There are a few job ads now for Lanier 219

Are you using a Lanier or a DAC?
I have good quality with my DAC unit. My main account is Dictaphone and my first secondary is Lanier, both the same quality audio.
I use Lanier at MDI
Lanier is similar to C-phone in how it functions. If by referencing old reports you mean samples, you can ask your supervisor for samples of any dictator and she'll get you samples. If you need to look at reports you have done previously you can pull those up yourself, yes, even while working on a current job. You just open another internet window, log into Bayscribe (so you would have 2 different Bayscribe windows open) and look up your old jobs from that day or a month ago.. whatever.

The demographics for Lanier and C-phone accounts have to be put in manually, but I find that I enter them faster with Lanier because you look at a little screen with them rather than waiting for the C-phone prompts telling you what they are, but you do have to be careful that you've entered correct information.

I suspect you are being put on the account I work on (good - we could use the help). Feel free to email me if you'd like.
Lanier

i know lanier is old....  are there any companies still using Lanier?  I am so used to that system that my job is switching to wave pedals which I know is the new thing.  Also are there any great Radiology transcription companies that anyone can suggest... Please it has to be per line, not per report as I just left one paying $1.10.  any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

I use a Lanier
and I am with MDI-MD.
re lanier
does this require unlimited LD and/or cphones or what is different?
Do you have to own a Lanier? (Please don't
x
Lanier at MDI
I would imagine that the work flow, quality of dictators, etc. is going to depend on *which* Lanier account you are on. I have one but it may be different than the one you are on (which can't be listed here), so I can't be really helpful when we are talking in general terms. You can email me if you want to get more specific.
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.

1600 is not a fair minimum requirement.  Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

Lanier sucks
I really really hate this company. The hospital I was working in with them to get out of the old DOS platform. It took them several weeks to get it up and running, and I use the word running loosely. Most of us worked at home and they could NOT get the home employees up and running. We had so many service calls it got to the point they were telling us we had no more calls per contract. The system couldn't count lines either. It ended up with the employees having to come back in-house to work and because of the lack of ability to count, the bonuses were gone which averaged 1500.00 a month. A 65,000 a year job GONE because of those goofs.
Not a Cphone - a Lanier!
x
Any of you work for KS and use Lanier?
Could you please let me know if you have any problems.  Do they provide foot pedal?  What model Lanier is needed for KS?  Thanks.
Lanier at MDI is just for the dictation...sm

It connects to your telephone.  If you only have 1 phone line, it will stay busy the entire time you are connected, you cannot use call waiting.  You also pay the long distance.  The Lanier gives you the voice to type and you type the reports on your computer in the Bayscribe program which means you have to connect to that website on the internet.  Bayscribe does not fill in the Lanier screen info, job numbers, dates, etc.  You have to do that manually.  You do not have access to other reports, only ones you have done previously and you cannot access even that when you are in a report (unless you go out and come back and restore the report as if the power went off, which is way too much trouble).

One good thing is that if you have another phone line you could use dial up if you don't have DSL or cable.

I'm on a Lanier account
and we always have TONS of work!
Lanier accounts
How much do you define as a ton? I have a Lanier account, and while there is always work, add a few more full-time MTs on it and there won't be. This is a really big account, but the typical work loads are half of what they were when I started on it a year ago. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon of telling people to come get on my account.
Lanier accounts
Well, I am only part-time but I do around 1000 lines per day and am always being asked if I would like to do more.
Lanier system
It's not a silly question. A Lanier is similar to a C-phone and if you have a Lanier account at MDI you either need to own one or rent one from MDI. As for the other poster who asked a similar question, you also need unlimited long distance for any of MDI's Lanier or C-phone accounts. I have full (actual) unlimited phone service through my cable company, so that's not really any additional expense for me, maybe just a few dollars more than I was paying for regular phone service through the phone company with no long distance at all.
