Lotus Notes

Notes is basically a computer program.  We type in Word, through Lotus Notes.  Notes has several functions.  It is where you sign on and receive your work, check your line counts, edited reports, etc.

You also have your account specs there, account address books with doc names, PA names, etc.  Your E-mail is also on Notes.

It is a great program.  Everything is right there for you.  Very user friendly!!!

Yes, it is Lotus Notes and
They supply the computer.
I only know that they use Lotus Notes. Don't

Expanders and Lotus Notes

Axolotl uses a great Expander called SpeedType.  It is a great program.  It will hold reports as long as 8 pages. The platform is one of the best I have used.  Very little, if any, demographics to input.

Do you know Lotus Notes? I think that's the software they use. nm

Lotus Notes Platform

Lotus Notes is a Word-based program.  Everything you need is on the desktop within Lotus notes.  It is where you sign on to receive your work, check your line counts, find account specifics and samples, etc.  It is very easy to use.

You do receive 6 reports in your queue.  The system replicates every 5 minutes and you will receive jobs to keep you with 6 at all times.

The system is not set up to spy on anyone.  However, managers/QA can tell who is signed on and what reports that are in all queues.  This is very important in case there are any problems such as the MTs internet goes down or if there are any issues with signing off any particular report.

Axolotl management does ask that if we are going to be away from our desk for more than 15 minutes to please sign out of the system.  They do not want the work sitting in the queues when other MTs can be typing them.

One reason why Axolotl is such a great place to work is we always have plenty of work and they do not over hire.  They base the number of MTs needed for any specific account by each MT producing 1200 lines per day.  They do not treat us like little kids and watch every move we make.

I have been here over 2 years and it is the best place I have worked.  They just ask you stick to your schedule and produce your minimum line counts.

Axolotl uses Lotus Notes, but you

type in Word, use SpeedTyple (the same as ShortHand) for an expander, and Stedman's Spellchecker.  They provide all equipment/software.  FT only, employee.  Great benefits, better than average pay.  I had never seen a pay range, they just asked me what I wanted.

Pretty strict QA, but not nitpicky about punctuation and are helpful.  You don't deal with 1 QA person and for the most part all are on the same page.  Daily feedback, monthly QA report.  Very reasonable insurance and cheaper than anything I've seen yet. Tons of work, paid downtime (which is rare), good tech support.

They just hired a bunch of MTs and don't know if they are still hiring, but you can apply through their website and they will contact you within a couple of days if they are hiring.  Testing down through a third party.  Written part was challenging but the transcription part very easy.

A couple of challenging accounts, but overall not excessive ESLs.   Not able to view past reports, though lots of samples available.

You are allowed to set your schedule, but has to include a weekend day, and you are expected to adhere to your schedule, very little flexibility, though no issues with getting off for doctor's appointments, etc.

Best company I've worked for in a long time.

Do they still use Lotus Notes? Is program on your computer
s
I haven't started yet but they use Lotus Notes.

It is Windows based.  Everyone I have talked to says it is user friendly, easy to make lines.  Use Stedman's Spellcheck and SpeedType.  You download 6 reports initially.  I'm not sure if you complete the 6 and then get 6 more, or for every one you complete another one replaces it.  They supply equipment.  Employee manual makes it s/l they can spy on you.

I don't have experience with accounts, but told the accounts that I will work on are very low ESL.  That doesn't mean there won't be bad dictators though.

Supposed to be someone available 24/7 if you need help, including QA.

I don't know any more than that since I haven't actually started work yet, still waiting on computer.

They pay better than that now. They do not supply PC
but just like all the other companies, they do require Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs. They are nice people to work for. I have been there a few weeks.
They do supply equipment for a (sm)
nominal lease fee.  No weekends unless you want to work them.
which companies supply pc's

Does anyone know which transcription companies who supply the pc's offer good line rates and are good to work for?  I am almost burned out trying to find a good company to work for.

yes, they do supply the computer, but
it'll tke them FOREVER to get it out of your house when/if you quit. I quit in Feb. and am STILL looking at that stupid machine. I still continue to get company emails, my emails go unanswered.... Communication is severely lacking, always was IMO....
OSi used to supply computers - not sure if they still do

Will they supply a computer? Then
If they supply computer equipment, then that could be a reason. So far the only company that ever asked me for permission to do a check is a company that would have supplied the hardware. Otherwise, I have never heard of a company wanting to check a credit report.
Do they not supply another account if you run out? (NM)

Did everyone have to supply their own computer?

I had to turn down a job because I did not have XP on my personal computer.  I only spoke to one supervisor via email and she said I needed my own PC.

Does anyone know where to find a good deal on XP?

Thanks.

Do you have to supply your own computer?

When I applied I was told I needed my own computer with XP.  The computer I have, XP I do not.  I cannot seem to find XP for a reasonable price either.  Is this still what they ask for or has it changed?

Thanks

they supply the cphone, but...sm
the accounts they have with C-phones are really AWFUL!
Supply and Demand?
I would wonder if it's not more an issue of most MTs wanting to use their on computers. My Mom, sister, and I all are transcriptionists and there's no way we'd work on anyone else's computer. First, I've got to have my laptop. I don't want a big, clunky desktop taking up space in my house. We already have 4 other laptops anyway (we homeschool). There isn't any room for anything else. Also, I've got to be able to work anywhere I happen to be. I have a strict 8-hour shift but that doesn't mean I have to be home to work. I'd be too nervous traveling as much as I do with someone else's equipment.
Supply and demand
This is what drives wages more than anything ,and because of offshoring and VR, demand is down. Don't know about supply, but the schools keep cranking out MTs, so it's probably pretty steady. As long as MTSOs have a large pool of MTs to choose from, downward pressure on wages will continue. Has nothing to do with what we think we are worth. Companies will only pay what they have to pay. This is true in every industry.
they supply you with everything - you are not allowed to use your personal
computer for their work. Be forewarned - When you get their equipment, do not play or surf the internet for anything other than work related. They do monitor it. Use your own personal computer for personal emails and surfing outside of work related things.
any companies supply computers for ICs? - nm

companies that supply computer

Are there any good companies that allow part time work and furnish the computer, also?

yes they do, everything you need computer wise they supply. sm
very friendly user platform, pay always on time and correct, great bosses, great benefits, great sound quality, great QA people, all around a great place to work. Come on over to Webmedx. You will be glad you did.
Maybe they can supply you with the right copy of word.
.
Does Focus infomatics always supply

computers to MTs who work for them?  I ask because I'd rather use my own computer.  I'm a little leary of hooking up someone else's computer to mine even with a router.  I don't want the risk of any viruses or company Spyware or anything like that affecting my own personal computer.  Can anyone shed some good light on this matter?  Thanks in advance for your help.  God Bless.

To correct answers above, they do supply

C-phone and/or foot pedal.  They do not supply computer.  I was hired less than 2 months ago and they provided equipment and had placed an order for more so doesn't sound like they are phasing that out.  Starting pay for everyone is 8 cpl and after 90 days is reevaluated based on quality and difficulty of the account and can go as high as 9.5 cpl.  You should receive a letter via e-mail stating this when you get a response to your resume.  I don't know when the instituted this as cpl varied at one time.

They use ShortHand as an expander.   You can download a 30-day trial from the ShortHand website and KS can give you a key to make it permanent.

Does etrans supply the computer? TIA
xxxxxx
Webmedx does supply an expander, it is

ShortHand.  I never worked for MQ and I've been gone from Webmedx for a month, but I left because there was consistently no work on any of my accounts.  One day I got 4 reports all day long and that was sitting in front of the computer for an entire 12-hour shift and checking every few minutes.   There was plenty of work on some accounts, but I was told I couldn't work on them.

They have their own platform called Enterprise and I there were several issues with slowness, it locking up, losing reports, etc.  They kept updating promising fixes but I never saw any positive results.  They had production tiers, but because of so many problems with the account and lack of work there was no way to reach them.  I believe they have restructured the way it is done though so it may be easier now, provided there is work.

I am no fan of Webmedx, but from what I've read about MQ there is no way I would consider them.  Check the archives or read the MQ board here.

MDI doesn't supply a computer,
so you have to have your own.  I take it your current company does supply your computer, in which case - yes - you should use your own computer.
