i'd like to know too. i did send an email back before wasting more of my time to see if the work
;
yes, you are wasting your time with them.
The human resource person that works there is beyond pathetic. Because of the rules of this board, I am not able to go into it further, but let's just say that I used to work on the inside at their office. I left, along with 5 others that worked INSIDE, to go work for another company.
I'm not wasting my time then (nm)
/
Please tell me, am I wasting my time?

I have been looking for clinic work for 2 months now with a U.S. based company that has employee status, benefits, doesn't offshore, and little, if any VR.  Am I going to go blind looking or does this kind of position no longer exist?  I have over 10 years experience, tired of testing and never hearing back (I know, they are being swamped).  Still . . .

Depressed doesn't come close to describing how I feel.

If there is hope, will somebody please throw me a bone?

You are wasting your time and energy!
There are jobs being off-shored in almost every industry imaginable. Call customer service or tech support for any major company, and you are bound to be speaking to someone from a different country. That is the way it is and that is the way it will continue to be now that we have worldwide communication in mere nanoseconds. You can do whatever you want, but nothing you do is going to change anything. The Internet and the telecommunication industry have created a worldwide workforce and it is here to stay!

As far as quality goes, have you ever seen some of the reports transcribed by citizens of the United States? The quality of the reports I have seen is appalling! Martians could probably produce more accurate medical reports than many people on this very forum can produce.
Try telling Spheris instead of wasting your time with us
You dont have to explain anything to anyone on here. I would take these great points that you have had and tell them that you are in the process of looking for another job and maybe that will scare them into giving you a raise.

Telling about it on here really wont do anything unless you talk to Spheris about it.

Good luck! It does look like you deserve a raise, but I think most of us do too.

Would like to know to before wasting time on transcribing tests.nm
nm
i think the opposite, give the boot to those who are wasting everyone's time and just don't ge
the quality dropping also drops our pay for good MTs who care about quality.
Plus time-wasting instant message harassment
NM
yes, justme, please save us from wasting our time on the likes of YOU!
stay home and type your 50 lines an hour and have a twinkie on me.
phew...i'm glad it wasn't just me, no more wasting time on this!
nm
I will definitely not work for 7.5 cpl so thanks to Michelle at J&M -sm
Giving us all a heads up!
You aren't wasting your time, you're investing in a potential "yes!"
As to why you don't get a response, it might be for one or some of the reasons below, or none of them:

a. You don't meet clearly-stated qualifications. I delete every resume or application that doesn't meet standards required. If you can't follow instructions, don't expect me to take time out of my busy day to spend time on explaining this to you.

b. You're an Indian pretending to be an American. Again, I'm not wasting Keystrokes on you.

c. Your application is filled with errors. Maybe the dead silence from recruiters is a message to go back and review what you've put out there.

d. Maybe your application got overlooked. It has happened. Email the recruiter. If you don't get a response, review a, b, and c above and e below.

e. Maybe the recruiter is swamped. There are days when 10 hours will fly by and I've hardly had time to breath. There are applications to look at, resumes to review, tests to score, interviews to schedule, paperwork to complete, interviews to do, reports to file, fires to put out, and someone has to beat the tech people/MT supe upside the head to get them to call an irate MT, who feels that YOU are responsible for her every woe and calls 6 times a day to tell you about it.

From a recruiter POV, don't put your experience on page 4 under everything else you've done. I don't care that you work in the church nursery, or that you drive bus, or that you swept floors at Mitzi's Kut n Kurl. Don't make me wade through all that to find out if you can do the job I'm trying to hire for. I suspect I've tossed good resumes because I don't have time to read someone's life story before getting to the information I need. I also don't want to know your parent's names and professions (why do Indians do this?).

So, if you don't get a response you can either call or email, or just move on. It's not necessarily a rejection of you, but rather the reality of a busy society.
Could be Michelle D.
She's new and hasn't been there long enough to give an accurate assessment.
No it doesn't, sucks big time. nm

Michelle, you know that's not true.

You were here on MTStars singing the songs of praise, insisting with a passion that the claims of newbie advantage were wrong.  Yet you went to the company forum asking, "what do these posts mean?"  If you were so positive that nothing said was true, why are you asking "what the posts mean" on the company forum? You would have already known!  And on the flip side, if you have to ask what the posts mean because you're not sure, how can you be insisting none of what I said was true??  That's my point.  If you don't know, why are you so certain you're right - and so willing to call me a liar?

You want specifics?  Look how a person below posted that a newbie can get a raise if they show improvement.  Now go to the company website and check for yourself.  Look and see how long it would take a longterm employee of 5 years or more to get a raise and then figure how many raises the newbie gets in that same time period. THEN tell me the company doesn't favor newbies.  Some of us have been here years with NO raise despite meeting all the "review requirements".  As for other details, I'm not going to be as foolish as the poster below who posted her base line rate publicly, and that's the only way I can prove what I was saying.  I make less than the person below and came in with the same test score, more experience, working on more and harder accounts.  But I'm not putting my base line rate on a public board to get fired, or at the very least a reprimand, just for your satisfaction.

But stop calling me a liar, because you don't look all that truthful yourself saying here that it's best job you've ever had and then crying on the company forum exacty how many lines you made per pay period.  Even if you make 10 dollars a line, how can what you stated you produced be the best job you ever had?? Furthermore, if you're so happy, why come here bashing me because my experience at this point isn't as good as yours, and then whine about yours on the company forum? Please don't even try to convince me that you're not stirring the pot.

Michelle never apologized. She only said she was sorry JMO had a bad experience
The only one who apologized out of it all was JMO and I don't think he/she really had anything to apologize for in the first place. He/she was the only one out of all of them that kept it civil. .
So sorry to hear about that Michelle! I hope that you are okay now.
I was all happy when the e mailed me, but when I looked at the archives here, it said same thing you are saying. And they state they are the #1 MTSO employer by some organization. Oh, brother. I am sticking with my regular job, and if I take on extra work, it is going to be with a small mom and pop. Things are too wacky in the MTSO world these days. Thanks for your advice and I hope that you find something so you can get over this horrible experience with them!
If you timed in for WEbinar let them know so they can take it off time card. Doesn't that beat a
.
Ah, Michelle's a little tattle-tale!! Trying to earn some brownie points!

Thank you! I'm looking for part-time work to supplement my no-work full-time job.

Prolly wasting your breath, she's not even
A rising tide lifts all boats equally. (The reverse is also true.)
I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time?  I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to.  If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info.  Thanks!
i work 3 part-time jobs now. it can be confusing if you are learning both at the same time, but sm
other than that not a problem for me. best to get one down before starting to other or you might become overwhelmed.
I'm another MT who doesn't run out of work, never have. sm
Except of course around the holidays and a few summer weeks, I'm nearly always busy with actually more work on my accounts than I can possibly volunteer for. Lots of OT. I think the overhiring was true for a brief period last summer, but now things seem to be pretty well-balanced. LOTS of work, good managers, good equipment, nice people.
Doesn't work
This is the one I used, in addition to others listed on the website. I receive a MAILER-DAEMON failure notice on all of them ----- strange.
You are wasting your words on this or any site letting it bother you. The bashers will continue
to bash because they get pleasure from doing so.

What you need to do is do not read the threads. Bashers love to bash.

If you choose to read the threads, take it with a grain of salt and just let it go over your head.

You know the truth and an intelligent MT will go to the company for questions particularly when that company makes it clear in their ads that they can.

I just would not sweat it. Know that intelligence prevails in this industry and the smart ones will find out for themselves rather than read sour grapes or anything that resembles it.

Go relax and don't worry about it. Enjoy your day.
Vonage, but I know it doesn't work well everywhere (nm)
x
That doesn't mean I have to work for a company
who chooses to send things out of country. I feel no need to suck it up and take it.
VOIP doesn't work with it.
I was specifically told, when I went to work for them, that Vonage, Skype, and other VoIP systems do not work with the dial-in dictation systems because of signal degradation and depending on the carrier, the tones the system needed to hear were different.

I don't know if that is still the case, but prepare yourself in case it is.
Doesn't escription work better than
what the Q has? People post their ASR funnies, and they are unbelievable. I think escription works better, but that's just through the grapevine.
Work for a company that doesn't offshore

I used to work for a company that offshores -doesn't mean I do now (sm)

Do I sense some some sour grapes here?

My company doesn't pay for ANY holdays if you don't work
nm
Doesn't sound like the Transtech I work for...NM
nm
Yes, they have several ER accounts...the one I work on doesn't have any ESLs (sm)
but I'm sure some of them may have an ESL here or there.  I started there in September after being with Medquist for 8 years. So far, so good.  They have been very accommodating and the office staff couldn't be nicer.  Good luck!
Have 4 accounts and no work. SR doesn't pay enough. Like the company, but..
X
I think this is the same person who complained about this before and she doesn't even work there
nm
"For someone that doesn't work at Transcend...." sm
Note to TranscendMT: We are ALL in this together; it really doesn't matter which company YOU work for. It's data collection (wink wink) ;-) MTSO trends DO matter to ALL employees, not just employees of said company and the company cheerleaders can't stop people from posting on a public forum. A lot of us have been transcribing before there even was a “Transcend.”
Good luck.

Doesn't explain why the work has been so low for 6 months.
It only makes sense in the context of this week. Hope WX is not about to MDI us.
Wbx doesn't even send work offshore. nm
.
Ugh - well I did all my work on time and I expect to be paid on time.

The phone company doesn't wait, the cable company doesn't wait, and the electric company doesn't wait for their money either - all of which I need to pay in order to do my job.  I work when I am supposed to, I help when behind, and give 110%, and I ask for my check to be on time.

I think if an MTSO is going to have to mail checks they should do so priority to make up for the delay.

Full time but no work half the time-nm
nm
Part-time MT getting full-time work ??????

TransTech should not be giving out work to PT people on their DAY OFF, or any other time BEFORE a full-time MT has enough work    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't matter how nice they are, I wouldn't work
xx
Doesn't matter how many companies you work for. I'd like to know how you manage to do this???
What kind of work do you transcribe?

How many hours a day do you work?

What kind of line rate do you get from the companies you work for?

How many lines you do an hour?

Do you work as an IC or employee?

I'm very interested in hearing how you manage 100,000/year.
Beyond Text doesn't work long enough to allow you to get any lines. nm
nm
Transmitting back the work doesn't cause a problem

because the file is a very small fraction of the size of a voice file.  A voice file is huge, but a text file is small in comparison, so doesn't take near as long to transmit.

After the first file is downloaded though you can work, so it isn't like you are just sitting waiting for them to download.  When I had dial-up I would set to download and then go take my shower.

Amphion doesn't make you work weekends
or nights.  They're a great company, and I hear they're hiring.
Work for a company that doesn't offshore. Support US MTs.
