Frankly it will just be a bash fest.

Things get very carried away on here and I doubt any MTSO is going to want to banter about what they feel is best about their company.

I personally do not assume that someone who is saying something good about a company is an MTSO. I take everything that is said with a grain of salt.

Keystrokes love fest question
It used to be (a couple of years ago) that anytime Keystrokes was on here it was all negative responses and no one had anything good to say.  Now it is a continual gush of admiration.  What changed?  Just curious.
Not flaming, but frankly, I CAN't see their point - SM

After watching year after year now how MTs are treated and thinking they pushed the envelope about as far it would go with lower & lower wages unpaid work/no work but making you sit and wait, and VR to top them all of --here goes another ploy to take even more bread out of our children's mouths.  You do agree that this MT/MTSO is, or should be, a 2-way street - but I haven't really seen much of THEIR side of the street.  Docked for not meeting line counts?  Of course, you might disagree with me for thinking this is about as low-down as a company can go, given we're paid chickenfeed, anyway.  CAN WE THINK OF ANY OTHER JOB OR PROFESSION WHERE THE EMPLOYEE IS DOCKED FOR NOT MEETING THEIR PRODUCTION WISHES.  When you're paid on production and production only, you should be paid the agreed-on rate regardless.  Can you imagine telling a fast-food employee, Hey, guys, you didn't sell enough hamburgers this week so we're reducing your salary for ALL of the work you did. Or maybe the mailman should be docked also for not delivering enough letters, or may a policeman for not enough tickets, metermaid, toll collector, I could go on and on, but I think we all get the picture.

I assume, of course, that you ALWAYS get enough work on your shift, that the docs are of the calibre that their dictation allows you to just breeze through the reports.  But you also report that they are decent about making up lines due to low work - wanna news flash? MTSO grapevine is alive, well and kicking - and word got around that, first of all, they must pay MINIMUM WAGE regardless of low work/no work - as long as you're required to be on your shift/PC. (Checked Labor Board web site earlier - criteria is, WHETHER OR NOT EMPLOYEE IS RESTRICTED IN HIS/ACTIVITIES while ENGAGED TO WORK, meaning, are you free to go shopping, travel, sleep ... no, told to Keep checking for work ... well, dear, must pay you MW.)  I hope things work out for you and you don't become disillusioned about your company - but things aren't going to get better in the MT biz...as long as we LET them do what they want and let them just TAKE & TAKE & TAKE.

Good luck!

I, myself, worked at MQ for 3-1/2 years - until it went sour in the fall of 2005. We made our lines, we made good bonuses on MINUTES of dictation instead of lines -it was the dictatorial turnabout that I think soured most people at MQ.  You also say that your present company is understanding about

Frankly, my dear, the answer is
no. I am more interested in things perhaps I could change. If I wanted more money then I probably would strive to become one myself.
Because quite frankly her posts border on illiterate and psychotic....
Sorry, but it takes a much better-spoken, articulate, RATIONAL opinion to influence me. *shrug*
I don't want to bash them, but r/o
If you don't like being old fashioned, you will want to stay away from this company. It couldn't BE more old fashioned! Also, you will have to enjoy being micromanaged and spending half of your day with your instant messenger popping up, being asked what you are doing, etc. I left amicably, but it was definitely not the place for me. QA is completely out there with no regard for BOS in any way. They make it up as they go, and it is anything BUT consistent. I wish I would have known this before I went there, but I couldn't find any info at the time. (PS- I thought the pay was embarrassingly low, with no hope for a raise--EVER)
I don't bash, but I tell the truth and often it isn't

good.  I don't work for KS, never have and have absolutely no desire to ever work for them, but I have worked for one really bad company.   I have 18 years' experience and was the QA manager so I have skills and I'm very good at what I do, but the company was horrible and told all kind of lies to entice me to work for them.  I don't post on here to bash the company, but if someone asks about the company I will give my honest opinion.  What about companies like XXXX or whatever they call themselves now.  They are a scam and what if when someone comes here to ask about them all that is posted are good posts (of course there would never be any).

I personally feel that all the MTSO and management posts from KS are enough to keep me from wanting to be a part of KS.

People used to just bash MQ, but look at what is

happening now at almost all these big companies.  They are sending our work out of the country.

If there is anyone out there who may have the right connections (you know what I mean), please, please do what you can to help.

No reason to bash, do whatever you think is best for you.nm
nm
Isn't it illegal now for an ex-employer to bash?

I am in no way, shape or form trying to bash here.
/
I'm not trying to bash the company or anything, but I am curious as to what sm

others do when faced with no work.  Do you ask management for more accounts?  Do you just ride it out and hope that indeed new accounts sign on and you can make a living before the wolf gets too close to the door?  Do you go and look for another job (or 2) to supplement your income and then work like crazy when things pick up?  In a perfect world, I suppose I would have a nice little nest egg built up and could just enjoy the lull times, but unfortunately that is not the case, and I was just curious as to how others handle it.  I do not have a husband to fall back on as a secondary source of income/support, so it can get kind of scary at times.  My instinct tells me to just work another job or two.  I may not have a life, but at least I will not be on the street.

Thanks for your input.

Why is it that people can come on here and bash companies but when someone tries to say that they sm

are happy, they are either management or causing flames.

There are a lot of good companies out there, but this is like anything else:  If you have a good experience, you are happy.  If you have a bad experience, or perceive something as a bad experience, you yell and scream and ram it down the throats of everyone around you?

We are all entitled to our opinions, good and bad, but people that come to this board for real answers are never going to be able to find them as both the nay say'ers and the yay say'ers get out of hand.

I work for Keystrokes.  I have for a few years.  I am happy there and hate to see the bad posts, knowing that there are very few that feel that way.  There are over 200 of us that are happy and have been there for a little while.  It is disheartening to see that one of the biggest companies that really tries to do well by their employees has such bad press at times, and that the ones who do the bad-mouthing either:

1) Have not been there in a long time.

2)  Were not hired.

3)  Were let go.

Yes, they hire often, but they need to advertise, recruit and hire to staff new accounts or they would not be able to get and keep the account.  Yes, people leave companies and move to others.  This industry in general seems to see a lot of job movement, in house and with services.  Yes, they had a recent change in management of ONE PERSON ONLY, the one who did the hiring, but companies go through changes all the time, in and out of healthcare.  WHO CARES?  They tried to make it better by sending out an email to all resumes in that person's office.  I saw the email as someone from another company received it, knew I work for KS, and wanted to know if I am happy there.  I thought the email was good.  They had a lot of calls to make, and those calls do not last for 30 seconds.  I talked to the owner when I was hired and we talked for 45 minutes as I had a lot of questions.  Yes, they said that they would make the calls in a few days but obviously it took longer than they expected.  Again, WHO CARES?  If they were say they were going  to call you and did not, maybe they ran out of time or maybe they JUST WERE NOT THAT INTO YOU.  Just because you put in a resume, it does not mean that they are going to hire you.  Maybe a lot of applicants were excited and called them or kept emailing asking for a call, but there are only so many hours in a day.  There are a lot of maybe's and a lot of things that you have no control over, and a lot of things that they have no control over.

It could be that you are the best Transcriptionist in the world, and they lost out.

It could be that the positions were filled by the time that they got to you in the pile.  It happens.  So many people want 1st shift, Mon through Fri, no ESL, no equipment, no this, no that, specific this, specific that.  There is not an endless supply of every type of account, every shift.

The big question here is:  Why do you care so much that felt it necessary to come to a public board and bash a company that you know nothing about?  How about we stick to bashing those with no work, that send the work to India, who do not pay their employees, who offer 3cpl, who have ugly QA, who cheat on line counts?  THOSE are the companies that DESERVE to be bashed.

You might ask why I am taking the time to write this.  It's simple.  I feel that the hateful people bring out the worst in all of us, and that poison spreads.  Yes, I feel passionately about this, but it is only because I do not think it is fair to bash a company that you do not work for.  They should thank their Lucky Stars that they did NOT get to some of the calls for the truly spiteful people out there, because a few months down the line, they would be here screaming about something else.  Now he or she can move on to the next company that they want to try to bash.  You don't hurt the companies when you do this, as they are not here, but you do insult those of us that like working for Keystrokes or whatever company is the flavor-of-the-month to be bashed.

and I know a person that comes on here to bash another company because sm
they fired her. Nothing wrong with the company, but they fired her and she is angry and bitter (about most things actually) so she is trying to destroy them. The tone of the bad posts about Keystrokes all sound like 1 or 2 people. I am going to try them.
uh oh. Here we go. Time to slash and bash Execuscribe. sm
I am sure you do not realize what you are asking and expect mature answers but you will not find many here.

Execuscribe is a wonderful company. The pay is lower than most but the work is plentiful and there is little turnover. The office staff is nice and helpful, the owner is great and the accounts are stable.

I don't even work there but know this from others who do.
The many negatives? You're the only one I've seen bash it. Not every place is for everyone.
x
Wow! If you aren't interested that's fine but why bash this company for doing something nice
employees? I really feel sorry for MTSO's in this day and age of constant bashing. They simply can't win. If they try to do something nice and creative, they get bashed. If they don't, they get bashed. How 'bout giving them a break and going back to the rock you crawled out from under?
