Nurses, PAs, and NPs make damn good money in my area and this is not a metropolitan area.
Teachers here with a bachelor's degree and a couple of years (can we say union?) earn more than a professor at a private college. They also get super excellent benefits.
IT work is finally coming back into th States. Companies have learned the error of sending work off-shore, and for people with the right credentials, the income is equal to experience or certifications.
However, MTs do NOT get paid based on experience or knowledge. Most companies pay the same for all work types, all dictators, all work, all MTs, and they keep dropping the rates per line.
You need to get out in the real world and get your facts straight. The transcription business is the only one where contractors are treated like dirt.
